Minutes of the Prince Rupert local and Great Northern Railway Section of Dock Employees for locals 501 and 507 are included. Subject files contain information on foremen's disputes and other strikes. The tapes consist of Canadian Area convention proceedings and caucus meetings. The cassette tapes were generated by an oral history project carried out by members of the ILWU Local 500 which led to a publication entitled "Man Along the Shore".

The fonds consists of materials relating to the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) of Vancouver. Included are records of the East Vancouver District Council of the CCF (1949-1951), the cashbook of Cedar Cottage CCF Club (1944-1951), general correspondence and CCF election literature and pamphlets.
The fonds consists of a notebook, notes, clippings, reports, speeches, correspondence, subject files, and printed material relating mainly in his union activities and concerns over safety issues on the job and leadership issues in the union. There are subject files relating to his union trial when he was suspended for actions detrimental to the best interests of the IWA that pertain to the disagreements between the "reds" and "whites" factions within the IWA in the 1940s.
The fonds consists of a typescript of Dent's article on B.C.'s first nurses' strike in 1980, two articles on nurses' collective bargaining, and a staff representative manual for the Registered Nurses' Association of B.C. The fonds consists of regular minutes (1919-1970), conciliation reports from various unions (1943-1974), correspondence (1953-1975) and office files from Southern Interior shops (1957-1980). The fonds also includes IAM Grand Lodge correspondence (1953-1973, incomplete), receipts (1919-1961) and records for Lodges 131 (1943-1961), 109 (1949- 1966) and 867 (1951-1964). Major correspondents include companies such as the Schlage Lock Company, Brunette Machine Works, and Bitco Sales and Service as well as the Metal Industries Association. The fonds also includes agreements, negotiations, and correspondence with many companies whose major customers are part of the mining, forestry and fishing sectors of the British Columbia economy.

Also included in the fonds is the B. C. Lumber Worker Photograph Collection (1940-1982) which consists of images used in various publications to reflect the activities of the union.

The fonds consists primarily of records arising from a Boag Foundation-sponsored conference in 1983 based on the theme "Meeting the Challenge of the Eighties and Beyond." Many of the participants were prominent members of the New Democratic Party. Other materials in the fonds include correspondence of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee of the Provincial NDP (1977), political educational material from the Canadian Labour Congress, notes and press clippings.
The fonds consists of a typed manuscript of Morgan's University of British Columbia graduating essay (1931), notes, speeches, press clippings and printed material related to socialism in Canada. It also includes a series of press clippings written by Morgan under the pseudonym "Geordie" ca. 1940.

Records relating to the NDP have been divided into the New Democratic Party of Canada series, the New Democratic Party of British Columbia, Point Grey series and the New Democratic Party Vancouver Area Council series. There are also separate New Democratic Party Participation of Women Committee and New Democratic Party of British Columbia Standing Committee on Women's Rights series. The fonds also contains records related to Thomas's activism in many areas. Thomas was an active member of many activist organizations, and these organizations comprise the Committee to Defend Political Prisoners in Quebec series, the Endowment Lands Regional Park Committee series, the BC Federation of Labour series, the Women's Selection Committee for Women's Health Advisory Committee to the Vancouver Health Board series, and the BC Federation of Women series. Thomas also kept subject files and correspondence related to her activism that included material from several organizations, or from none. These records have been grouped into series based on the subject, including the Vietnam War series, the Women and Peace series, the Human Rights series, the Feminism Subject Files series, the Anti-nuclear war subject file series and the Labour Activities subject file series. The fonds contains records from Thomas's time as a professor in the University of British Columbia series. Student essays written by Thomas are in the Student essays series. Thomas's research on Malcolm Lowry comprises a separate series. Finally the fonds contains the Everywoman's Health Centre series.
