Jacob Sehl v. The Pacific Mail Steamship Company

File consists of thirteen documents: (4) notices in the British Columbia Gazette; correspondence discussing Sehl's claim for damages; invoice of damaged goods; correspondence outlining attorneys; invoice of goods shipped; correspondence regarding case; judgement for want of plea; plaintiff's bill of costs; writ to recover damages; declaration. Case regards Plaintiff paid for goods to be shipped and delivered in apparent good order. The goods were not delivered in apparent good order and condition to the Plaintiff but were damaged and deteriorated in value, many rendered of no use to the Plaintiff.

Lizzie A. Milsom v. Edward Albert Sharpe, falsely called Sharpe v. Sharpe

Case regards the Plaintiff claiming that herself and the Defendant never lived together or shared a bed. The marriage was never consumated. Case regards a dispute arising out of the last will and testament of Mr. McNeil involving guardianship of infant children and division of property.

Rawling v. Eickhoff

Case regards Plaintiff charing $1,000 for damages for slander in that the Defendant falsely and maliciously spoke and published words stating that the Plaintiff had stoled a pair of trousers from the Defendant. Fonds consists of 947 letters, bills of exchange, and telegrams sent from Victoria-area merchants to Royal Fisk, a forwarding and shipping agent in San Francisco, during the Cariboo Gold Rush. Letters provide insight into the effect of the Cariboo Gold Rush on trade and commerce in Victoria at the time. Topics covered in the letters include ordering goods; remitting cash, gold and drafts; advising of market prices; conditions in the mines of Victoria and Puget Sound; providing news of latest gold discoveries, shipping activity, finances, and mergers or dissolutions; business alliances; establishing express services; arrival of the first telegraph; et al.
