The fonds consists of Ujjal Dosanjh’s private records from 1977 to 2015, comprising of all aspects of Donsanjh’s life in Canada. A prominent portion relates to his lifelong advocacy of Indo-Canadian issues. Particular matters addressed include Sikh extremism, the Khalistan movement, the bombing of Air India flight 182, and the Komagata Maru incident. Many records of a long political career, split between the provincial level; as a BC MLA, attorney general, and premier; and the federal level in the roles Minister of Health and a member of parliament; document the years between 1979 to 2011. These records are wide ranging and diverse in terms of their topics and functions. An extensive collection of scrapbooks contains contemporary media reaction related to Dosanjh's political and community work.

Fonds consists of minutes and agendas, correspondence, publications, reports, photographs, pamphlets, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, artifacts, and other textual records related to Pro-CAN’s mission of: improving abortion access for women; defending their legal rights; protecting providers and clinics from harassment and violence; destigmatizing abortion; and educating the public about reproductive rights. The records include those necessary to fulfill its functions of managing and administrating the organization, advocating and lobbying, and ensuring safety and security, as well as those used as resources. Resources and subject files span the topics of abortion history in Canada and abroad, legal matters, grey literature, information about similar external organizations, and related topics in the news. Pro-CAN also kept extensive files on anti-choice groups and individuals along with their behaviors, photographs, and letters.

The fonds reflects Susan McCaslin’s professional career as a writer, poet and teacher as well as her personal interests and involvement in societies, community initiatives, and organizations between 1960 and 2023. Records in the fonds relate to McCaslin’s literary work and publications in various independent volumes, edited works, chapbooks, anthologies, non-fiction monographs, magazines, small press publications, newspapers, University annuals, and religious and arts quarterlies among others. Publicity materials relating to her literary work, tours, reviews, presentations, performances and instructional sessions developed by McCaslin are included in the fonds. The fonds also includes materials created and received through McCaslin’s personal collaborations with fellow artists and authors, community work relating to the environment and her involvement with religious communities and other subject areas. Records, mainly in German, related to the writing and artistic career of Kurt Hutterli. Arranged and classified by Kurt Hutterli. The records span from correspondence with publishers, friends and fans about book-projects to notes and manuscripts from various stages of Hutterli's writings. In addition, the fonds contains notes, and materials relating to Hutterli's art-work. The fonds also contains personal records related to family matters and friends as well as Hutterli's job as teacher in Bern.

The fonds consists of records spanning the period 1955-2013 that reflect Blanche Howard’s literary career, political interests, professional and volunteer work, as well as her personal and family life. Records related to Howard’s literary career include incoming and outgoing correspondence with publishers, agents, friends and family, colleagues and fellow writers, among others; literary works, including novels, short stories, essays, articles, book reviews, speeches, and plays in various editorial and publication stages; notes, outlines, and proposals; research materials; grant applications; contracts and royalty or revenue statements; biographical, publicity, and promotional materials; photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera; and other materials. Records related to Howard’s political interests and professional and volunteer work include correspondence with Iona Campangola, Capilano College, and members of The Writers' Union of Canada, among others; Vanier Institute of the Family correspondence and board meeting minutes; Moodyville Theatre correspondence, meeting minutes, and financial records; and other materials. Records related Howard’s personal and family life include photographs of Howard’s family, as well as photographs of Bruce Howard during his political career; personal ephemera; correspondence, including with writer and friend Carol Shields; and other materials.

Fonds reflect Jean Rands’s interest and activism in feminist labour organizing in western Canada and her speaking and writing around these issues, and also contains records relating to her family and personal connections. The fonds primarily consists of labour union meeting agendas and minutes, union leaflets and flyers, newspaper clippings, legal documents, correspondence, and drafts of speeches and articles. Personal records include diaries, personal correspondence, and a few photographs.

The fonds consists of records related to Simons’ writing career, travels, and personal life. Records span a period from Simons’ early years in university to 2012 and were created predominantly in Vancouver, British Columbia. Some records were created during Simons’ travels in England, France, Japan, Hong Kong, India, and Burma. The fonds comprises the following three series: Literary Works; Professional and Personal Records; and Travel Records.

The Literary Works series features drafts of Simons’ literary works in various genres, particularly drama (stage, radio, and film) and fiction (for children and adults). Record types include publications, drafts (typed, handwritten, and hand-annotated), outlines, notes, research materials for projects, several recordings of Simons’ works, and large poster boards Simons used for plotting one of her fiction projects.

The Professional and Personal Records series contains records related to the administration and management of Simons’ literary career, particularly her attempts to submit work to various publishers and producers, mount productions of her dramatic works, and secure adequate financial resources to sustain her writerly practice. Administrative records are frequently mixed physically with Simons’ personal correspondence to family and friends. Record types include drafts of Simons’ curriculum vitae, grant applications, professional and personal correspondence, professional photographs, and contracts.

The Travel Records series aggregates records from Simons’ three major trips: Europe from 1959-1961; Japan, Hong Kong, and India from 1967-1968; and Hong Kong, Burma, India, and Japan in 1986. Simons attended many plays, conferences, and art shows while traveling and preserved programs as a source of inspiration for her creative work. Simons also maintained correspondence with friends and family during her travels. Record types include programs, personal and professional correspondence, personal photographs, and Simons’ notes on various activities.

The fonds consists records relating to Dr. Joan Ford’s medical career and personal life, with records including handwritten notes, letters and correspondence, newspapers, photographs, official degrees and awards, administrative reports, and a coin. Files often contain multiple record types within them. Dr. Ford dedicated her medical career to helping those in need, including traveling to Nepal, Dominica, and Bangladesh all while managing her own medical practice in Burnaby. She has served in various capacities on numerous boards and professional organizations including the Federation of Medical Women of Canada, Save the Children, the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation, and the Trans-Himalayan Aid Society. She has received numerous awards and recognitions in her lifetime, but for her dedication to the global health community, she was appointed as an officer in the Order of Canada. Her personal interests included her family, Canadian history, and nature.

The collection reflects the genealogical interests of its collector, Robert Alvey, with a particular focus on the life of his first cousin once removed, A. Alexis Alvey, and on the movements and history of various Alvey family members. The collection consists mainly of correspondence between Robert Alvey and A. Alexis Alvey; other types of materials in the collection include photographs of Alvey family members, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reproductions of historical military certificates, and a miniature book created by Eva Louise Alvey Richards.

Fonds illustrates Mayrs’s work in visual arts, limited edition book design and publishing, and advertising and PR. It also contains records relating to his personal interests and family history.
The materials are arranged into three series, reflecting his different careers and personal life. Visual art and literary project records include: exhibition ephemera; photographic reproductions of Mayrs’s work; mockups, drafts, and unused material from projects; concepts and designs of unpublished and in-progress works; and correspondence related to his art practice. Advertising and PR project records include ads designed by Mayrs; administrative and ephemeral materials associated with Dome Advertising; and a small number of textual records relating to Mayrs’ work at Lovick BBDO. The contents of the fonds pertain to the life and work of Crawford Kilian. Materials include research and planning for novels, published and unpublished manuscripts, originals of published columns, personal and professional correspondence and appointment books. The focuses of Kilian’s writing are science fiction, educational systems and teaching, cultural issues and history, the economy, the environment, and technological developments, specifically the Internet. Writing material included in this fonds ranges from the 1960’s to the 2000’s. Other included material relates to Kilian’s time spent in China as an English teacher. The type of material in the fonds is primarily handwritten and typed paper records, but also includes newspaper, compact discs and publications.

Fonds reflects Lee’s professional career, investment ventures, engagement with political and social communities, and life with friends and family. It offers particular insight into the social aspects of Lee’s life, as she kept many of the invitations, programs, and other ephemera relating to events that she attended because of her community involvement and philanthropy across all aspects of her life. In addition to a variety of textual records relating to her business ventures, volunteering, and military service, the fonds contains a significant number of photographs that were taken or otherwise collected by Lee and reflect the full range of her life’s facets.

The entrepreneurship, investing, and business records series relates to Lee’s activities as a businesswoman and investor. Records in this series include financial and legal records, marketing materials, and certificates of recognition.

The military service records series relates to Lee’s time in the ambulance corps and subsequent involvement with initiatives in support of veterans. Records include a limited number of original materials from Lee’s period of service; correspondence and other records including meeting minutes and ephemera documenting Lee’s involvement veterans’ advocacy and recognition efforts.
The community and political activity records series relate to Lee’s involvement in Chinese Canadian community projects and the Social Credit and Conservative parties of Canada. Records in this series include ephemera, correspondence, and meeting minutes that document her involvement with these groups.

The personal records series relates to Lee’s travels as well as her life outside of her work and volunteer efforts. Records include correspondence, ephemera, and certificates.

The photographs series relates to a large number of photo albums and loose photographs that reflect all aspects of Lee’s life.

The contents of this collection pertain to the Santo Tomas Interment Camp in the Philippines during WWII. The camp was active from 1942 to 1945 and housed over 4,000 prisoners-of-war.

Records reflect the internal administrative structure and functioning of the camp, daily life of internees, the political activities surrounding the camp, and the personal experiences of Barbara and Leonard McCann.

Fonds illustrates James R. Stanton’s personal life and guiding business in Knight Inlet, British Columbia. It consists of an unpublished biography written by Stanton (including a foreword by R.M. Lorentsen and an epilogue by Blair Mclean), photographs selected by Stanton for his manuscript, and additional photographs and slides of the Stanton family.

This fonds consists of records related to Darryl Adams' activities as a political and social justice activist as well as his personal life. The fonds consists of three series: personal life and administrative records; activism involvement series; and activism collections series.

Records relating to the first series, Adams' personal life and administrative files include: personal correspondence received by Adams; photographs collected, taken of or by Adams'; school records and club memberships memorabilia; news clippings and other articles; and work related records such as research materials and correspondence.

Records relating to the second series, the activism involvement series, include material created or used by groups that Adams was involved in such as the Vancouver American Exiles Association (VAEA), as well as the Galindo Madrid Case of the 1970s. These records include meeting minutes; correspondence; conference, seminar, and workshop materials; materials by or about other communist, socialist, or leftist organizations; papers, articles, speeches, critiques, letters, and reports on related topics; ephemera and publications, such as newsletters, journals, and clippings; and sound recordings such as interviews Adams' gave on behalf of VAEA.

The last series consists of three major collections that Adams obtained over his lifetime. The first collection is the lefty literature collection that consists of newspapers, magazines, periodicals, booklets and bulletins, and other publications related to leftist themes. The second collection is a poster collection and the last collection is a button collection.

Fonds consists of records related to Jack Scott’s activities as a political activist and author, as well as material related to his personal life, from the 1930s through his death in 2000. Records relating to Scott’s political activities include material generated or used by groups with which Scott was involved, such as the Progressive Workers’ Movement (PWM), the Vancouver Study Group (VSG), the Red Star Collective (RSC), and the Chinese-Canadian Friendship Association (CCFA). These records include meeting minutes and summaries; committee lists, agendas, reports, policies, constitutions, financial statements, and other internal documents; position, discussion, and opinion papers and critiques; conference, seminar, and workshop materials; correspondence; materials by or about other communist, socialist, or leftist organizations; papers, articles, speeches, critiques, letters, and reports on related topics; ephemera and publications, such as newsletters and journals; clippings and photographs; and other materials. The fonds also consists of material related to a libel claim made against Scott and the Committee on Canadian Labour History. The fonds also consists of material collected by Jack Scott relating primarily to other communist, socialist, leftist, or social justice organizations and arranged by subject either by Jack Scott or by his acquaintances following his death. The fonds reflects Bernard and Jean Webber’s functions as leading members of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, teachers and education administrators, and advocates for local arts, history and Indigenous cultural regeneration. The fonds is comprised of 4 series; Political Papers series, Correspondence and Biographies series, Education and Employment Records series, and Community Activities series. Materials related to Indigenous arts, education and reconciliation are found throughout the fonds. Correspondence is its own series and is also found throughout, including copies of outgoing business correspondence.

Fonds consists of personal and business records of Peter Faminow, related to his personal and family life, career as a lawyer and a politician, and his interests and involvement in the Doukhobor community. Records include correspondence, clippings and scrapbooks, photographs, audio recordings, papers, speeches, and other textual records. The fonds is arranged into the following series: Family records, Records related to education, Records related to law practice and career, Doukhobor related files, Scrapbooks and clippings, and Audio recordings.

The fonds contains notebooks, photographs, ephemera and correspondence relating to the career of Constable (and later Sergeant) Samuel Service with the British Columbia Provincial Police and, following the merge in 1950, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The records related to Service's work and life in the cities and surrounding regions of Port Alberni, Cowichan, Chemainus and Victoria.

The fonds primarily features Maxim Lieber’s personal correspondence, particularly from 1965-1985; correspondence with academics interested in aspects of his personal and professional life; and publishing contracts for his edited anthologies. Additionally, some personal correspondence belongs to Maxim Lieber’s wife, Minna Lieber. Significant individuals represented include Langston Hughes, Erskine Caldwell, Malcolm Cowley, Vladimir Solomonovich Pozner, Howard Fast, Albert Maltz (of the Hollywood Ten), and Allen Weinstein (author of Perjury: The Hiss-Chambers Case).

The fonds reflects Mary Bishop’s interests in the social and political issues surrounding family planning, access to birth control, and population planning, primarily in Canada, as well as in south Asia and globally. She accumulated a large number of subject files to support her research in these areas on topics including human sexuality; abortion; fertility; welfare of children and families; and the influence of organized religion and Eugenics movements on birth control access. The fonds also reflects Bishop’s dedication to voluntary service with local, national, and international organizations focused on family and population planning. A small number of personal records are also included.

Bishop’s records are arranged into three series: population and family planning research; volunteer involvement; and personal files. The fonds consists primarily of newspaper clippings and research notes on topics of interest to Bishop; government and NGO reports and publications on population policy and family planning issues; pamphlets and flyers; and drafts of articles and speeches authored by Bishop. The fonds also includes recordings and transcripts of a series of interviews conducted by Bishop in the late 1970s with individuals relevant to the history of the birth control movement in Canada, including physicians, activists, religious leaders, couples, and individual women. Some organizational records for the various groups Bishop was part of (e.g., agendas, meeting minutes, annual reports, committee reports, correspondence, financial records) are also present in the fonds.

Fonds consists of manuscripts and typescripts of Niven’s work, as well as personal documents such as clippings, correspondence and photographs. Fonds has been arranged into two series: Manuscripts and research notes and Correspondence and personal documents.

Collection contents include materials related to various lesbian and gay organizations in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as political activities in the New Democratic party, left-wing organizations, presses and radio. The Gay Liberation movement is widely represented, with Labour, Socialist and Marxist, Women’s Liberation, and First Nations organizations peppered throughout the collection. Significant attention is given to Gay Alliance Towards Equality, the John Damien, Gay Tide and Body Politic legal battles, and Anita Bryant. There is also a significant presence of materials relating to CRFO Co-op Radio.

It was collected and donated by James Thomas, Founder of the Archives Collective. Significant donations were made to the Archives Collective by Randy Notte, a writer and gay advocate based out of Victoria and then Toronto and Vancouver; these donations document his wide range of involvement in the NDP and Socialist groups throughout Canada, especially as they have to do with gay and lesbian rights at that time. Files 2-20 to 6-07 are related to Notte’s activities. The collection is divided into two series, Subject Files (1919-1989) and Archive Administration (1979-1989).

Collection includes materials in the form of letters; pamphlets; posters; political materials, including a number of NDP related items collected by Randy Notte; materials relating to the functions of Gay and Lesbian organizations in Vancouver, Victoria and globally; newspapers and newspaper clippings; and other ephemera.

Fonds consists of textual material, graphic material and artifacts related to Ron Bick Lee’s activities as a businessman, a community leader and a member of his immediate and extended families in Vancouver and back in mainland China and Hong Kong. The material includes correspondence, business related documents such as invoices and ledger books, and his community involvement related documents. The material also contains photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, other personal collections such as rubber stamps, birthday congratulations, self-learning notes and so on. Fonds is arranged into series according to the type of documentation: Correspondence, Business documents, Community and political involvement documents, Centennial celebration and other personal documents, Certificates, Newspaper and magazine clippings and Photographs.

The fonds predominantly consists of the Household Accounts series, which includes documents supporting the daily activities of the Ralston family from 1956-2003, including bank statements, life insurance documents, receipts, correspondence, and three photographs of Mollie. The Income Tax Files series consists of tax returns and supporting documentation for the years 1965-1996. The fonds also contains a Construction and Upkeep of House series with files related to the construction of the Ralston’s house on West 28th Avenue in Vancouver, built in 1969. The Educational Notes series includes notes written by Keith, Mollie, Bruce and Delia during their grade school and university educations, and includes notes from 1935 to the 1970s.

Fonds consists of correspondence, manuscripts, drafts, pamphlets, academic papers, poems, research material, notes, transcripts, reports, submissions, agreements, minutes, programmes, photographs, and other material. Records relate to Miki’s writing and editing activities, his academic career, his involvement and support of the Japanese Canadian Redress movement, his participation in various literary and cultural events and projects, and his personal life.

Fonds consists of textual and graphic material related to the activities of the Fuller siblings as traveling musicians, particularly during their American tour from 1913 to 1917, including correspondence, financial documents such as contracts and receipts, and photographs and drawings from their tours. Fonds also includes printed material such as programs and sheet music which the Fuller family had printed and sold.
Fonds is arranged into series according to the type of documentation: Correspondence, Business and concert documents, Sheet music and lyrics and Photographs and drawings.

The fonds contains records pertinent to Lock Tin Lee’s functions as a KMT member, a public school educator, his personal life, and his overall involvement in organizations and affairs concerning the overseas Chinese. Lee’s records offer insight into the political aspirations of the Kuomintang amidst the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Cold War, the Chinese Civil War, and beyond; the public education scene for Chinese Canadians in British Columbia; and the lived experiences of the overseas Chinese in 20th century Canada.

Records predominantly range from Lee’s earlier years in China in the 1920s until his death in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1980. Records include reports, correspondence, notebooks, receipts and invoices, maps, books and bound material, newspapers, greeting cards, song sheets, business cards, badges and memorabilia, stamps and plaques, photographs, poems, flag textiles, and more. Many of these records were created in British Columbia, Canada, but others were generated in the process of Lee’s travels to other countries (predominantly Taiwan) or were received by Lee from other individuals and organizations based outside of British Columbia or Canada. Some records were generated or received by Lee’s family members.

The fonds consists of five series: KMT, affiliated organizations and other associations; Personal records and relationships; Public school education; Personal library; and Photographs. Many of Lee’s records are functionally and thematically interrelated across the five series and between files.

The Malcolm Lowry Manuscripts Collection includes textual records, photographs, and a variety of audio-visual materials organized into sous-fonds by creator. The Collection is predominantly textual records; the majority of materials are correspondence and manuscripts, many of which have been microfilmed.

The core of the Malcolm Lowry Manuscripts Collection is the Malcolm Lowry Papers, and the content of the Collection is consequently thematic. Materials pertaining to Malcolm Lowry’s life and works were collected by RBSC from a variety of sources, including Lowry’s friends and family.

The Bush Family collection consists of records and objects gathered by various family members on specific holidays or during special occasions. George and Pearl Bush contributed memorabilia related to their family’s settlement in Vancouver, their vacations in Europe and the United States, the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, the city of Vancouver, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and the country of Canada. Some records and objects commemorating the Dominion of Canada and the Canadian Pacific Railway Company feature racist depictions of Indigenous peoples. Items originating with George and Pearl date from the early to mid-twentieth century.

Patrick Bush contributed memorabilia related to his studies at the University of British Columbia, particularly his graduation and his membership in the Sigma Epsilon chapter of the Zeta Psi fraternity. Records originating with Patrick Bush date from the mid to late 1950s.

Records are arranged by subject in files. For example, all memorabilia related to the Canadian Pacific Railway Company is aggregated, as are records of Patrick Bush’s university attendance. Records relating to Nakayama’s religious and secular research and writing projects include manuscript and typescript drafts, as well as final published versions, of religious and biographical / autobiographical works, non-fiction works on the Japanese Canadian / Issei community, and poetry, as well as supporting materials, such as publishers’ contracts and correspondence and research materials.

Records related to Nakayama’s personal and family life and administrative affairs includes incoming and outgoing correspondence; address books and directories; maps; photographs; calligraphy and paintings on shikishi; medical records; travel documents and citizenship records; pension records; records and correspondence related to redress; legal documents; certificates, licenses, and membership cards; property and real estate records; banking and financial records; educational records; biographical information; clippings (many related to Joy Kogawa’s writing career), ephemera, and scrapbooks; notes and notebooks; and other materials.

Audio-visual materials consist of two films on three 16 mm film reels on the subject of World War II and Japanese culture.

Fonds reflects Minoru Kudo’s involvement within the Japanese Canadian community both before and after World War II as well as the Kudo family’s experience of forced removal and its impacts on their lives moving forward. If offers insight into the actions taken by the British Columbia Securities Commission during the process of the forced removal of Japanese Canadian families from B.C. and the advocacy work of Japanese Canadians, as individuals and through groups such as the National Association of Japanese Canadians, to receive redress following the end of the war, both through the The Royal Commission on Japanese Claims(the Bird Commission) and outside of it. In addition to these materials, the fonds also illustrates the work of younger generations of Japanese Canadians to uncover and reconnect with their history. The fonds contains research files from the Kudo family, who worked to document and bring together recollections of the Mission City Japanese community as it existed before the war and where families were for forcibly removed to during it, as well as the Kudo family’s history specifically. A significant portion of the fonds is the translation work done by Kathleen Merken on Minoru Kudo’s diaries.
The materials are arranged into three series, reflecting the different time periods and purposes in which the documents were created. The Minoru Kudo diaries and correspondence series contains the original diaries and correspondence of Minoru Kudo as well as photocopies that were made by Kathleen Kudo for reference and preservation purposes. The translations series contains records relating to the translation of the diaries by Kathleen Merken, research files were used to add context to the translations, and the translations themselves. The family records series contains genealogical research files, files documenting the deaths of various members of the Kudo family, and some personal records of Kathleen Merken that speak to her academic history and work.

The collection consists of diaries (1909-1922, 1924-1961), notebooks, copies of sermons, and miscellaneous materials related to Shimizu’s religious work and personal life. Many of the documents reflect his involvement with church congregations and Japanese-Canadian relations.

Fonds consists of personal documents created and kept by Stefan Arnason, mostly in the form of diaries which document his family’s life from 1936 until his death in 1956. Some earlier diary entries, from 1906-1912, document Arnason’s life before his marriage, in Winnipeg and Piney. Diary entries pay particular attention to employment, family occasions and important events, and the weather. Fonds also contains some loose correspondence and notes, and several notebooks which appear to have been used during Arnason’s school days (including one “Nokkur sönglög,” containing Icelandic songs).

The fonds consists of records generated and assembled by Mary Olga Park related to her personal life and associations, materials related to her career as a self-published writer, artist, and spiritual teacher as well as records related to the psychic experiences that she encountered throughout her life. Records span from Park’s early years in England to 1985, and were predominantly created in Vancouver British Columbia. Records from 1986 – 2017 were either added by Susan McCaslin, or Park’s son, Robert Park. The fonds is arranged into three series: Artistic, Literary, and Musical projects, Personal and Administrative Records and Psychic Records.

The Artistic, Literary, and Musical Projects series features drafts of Park’s musical transcriptions and annotated sheet music collection, hymnal book collection, sketches, pastel, and charcoal artwork, and her literary works in various genres, notably drama and poetry. The fonds also includes materials of her published and self-published works, and educational materials related to both her Sunday school position, and her spiritualist teachings. Record types include publications, drafts (typed, handwritten, and hand-annotated), correction notes, poems, manuals, procedures and instructions for her “learners,” Sunday school teaching material, prayers, study series material, sketchbooks and artworks, musical transcriptions, sheet music, and recordings.

The Personal and Administrative Records series contains records related to the personal life and administrative affairs of Park. Park kept detailed subject files on many different religious and spiritual phenomena, spiritualist writers, and completed her own Bible studies. She also corresponded with family, friends, and her “learners.” Record types include Bible study notes and annotations, family history research, education certificates, childhood books, religious and spiritualist publications, newspaper clippings and ephemera, diaries, notes, and personal notebooks, professional and personal correspondence, subject files on spiritualist matters, astrological charts, audio cassettes, photographs, and a postcard collection.

The Psychic Records series aggregates records Park kept throughout her adult life recording various psychic phenomena which she experienced. The records are textual accounts of clairvoyance, clairaudience, “out-of-the-body” experiences, dream visions and soul sight, voices, manifestations, astral encounters, precognition, and healing. Park often referred back to these notes at later dates and annotated their meanings to her as they informed occurrences in her everyday life. These records informed much of her teachings and publications, but were kept separately in her original record-keeping environment.

The fonds consists of documents relating to his career in logging, including membership cards in various union organizations; correspondence with Myrtle Bergren relating to her book, <em>Tough Timber</em>, on the history of the loggers of British Columbia; union correspondence, and minutes of some union meetings including a meeting of October 3, 1948 in which a motion was passed to disaffiliate the membership from the International Woodworkers of America (IWA) and form the Woodworkers Industrial Union of Canada.

The records in the first accrual reflect Johnson’s activities both as a leader in the The Lumber Worker’s Industrial Union (LWIU) during the first half of the 1930s and his later activities as part of the Lumber and
Sawmill Workers’ Union (LSWU) and IWA from 1937 to 1963. Included in the LWIU period are detailed financial and membership account books as well as meeting minutes and correspondence relating to the 1934 strike. This accrual contains the following series: Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union series, Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union financial records series, Lumber and Sawmill Workers’ Union (Local 1-7 1) series, Photograph series, Workers’ Unity League series, and Personal records series.

The second accrual consists of records related to Arne Johnson’s activities as a logger and trade unionist. There are two series: Union activities series and Historical controversies series.

The third accrual consists of two files added to the Personal records series: one file contains a variety of personal documents, including Johnson’s birth certificate, marriage certificate, transportation records, and correspondence; one is a notebook consisting mostly of newspaper clippings.
