Office log

File consists of the Union Organizer's handwritten office log, dated November 3rd, 1975 to November 17, 1976. The log documents the Organizer's duties and activities, including general administration and organization, phone calls, speaking to members, preparing reports, compiling arbitration cases, office renovation, peparing for membership meetings, writing newsletter articles, recordkeeping, and constructing an office manual.

File also contains correspondence, a Civil Engineering Department list, administrative instructions, reports written by the Organizer, meeting notes, committee membership lists and terms of reference, an executive membership list, and a library loan list.

File also contains "Strike Progress" material, documenting AUCE's strike activity and administration in December 1975. Records include activity logs, an official brief to UBC's Board of Governors, executive meeting minutes, a transcript of a meeting between AUCE and the BC Federation of Labour, and correspondence.

Treasurer's files

File contains records of the union office treasurer, dated June 20, 1978 to November 20, 1979. Documents include material concerning a 1979 office reorganization. Topics discussed include administrative restructuring, dues restructuring, subsequent by-law amendments, and union income. File also contains correspondence and invoices regarding payments to AUCE Provincial, legal arbitration, employee benefits, office rental, pest control, and union dues. File also contains the following miscellaneous documents: an account log photocopy, agenda and minutes of membership meetings, financial statements, and Local 1 by-laws. File also contains issues of Across Campus (October 1979, March 1979), and Contract Bulletin 3.

[Notebooks of provincial executive minutes]

File contains four notebooks of Melody Rudd, member of Executive Committee. Four handwritten exercise books (notebooks) containing notes on union activities in the form of phone numbers, addresses, to-do lists, lists of supplies, calculations, financial information, scheduling, drafts of correspondence, questions, information about the newsletter, and the activities of Locals 1-6. One of the notebooks appears to have been used for class or personal notes as it mostly contains psychology and mental health information with a section on union and strike activities at the end.

Provincial Executive minutes (2 of 2)

File contains meeting minutes dated August 16, 1980 to December 13, 1980. Topics discussed include office business and meeting structure, reports from Locals, correspondence, financial statements, loans, undertaking an AUCE history project, the convention and referendum, "Regina vs. Pappajohn" Supreme Court Decision, the affiliation question, protesting the Ku Klux Klan, grievances, strikes, committee reports, and per capita taxes. File also contains letters from AUCE Locals to AUCE Provincial on the affiliation ballot and the special convention, and an AUCE Provincial Bulletin to AUCE members on the topic of elections and nominations.

[Local 3 agreements and other materials]

File contains agreements, news clippings, correspondence and other records of AUCE Local 3 (Notre Dame University) related to contractual negotiations with the university, dated August 1974 to November 1975. Agreements are between the Board of Governors of Notre Dame University of Nelson and AUCE Local 3, dated November 14, 1974 and September 29, 1975. File also includes proposed classifications and salary grade, and bulletin regarding defunding of Notre Dame University.

[Local 2 correspondence and newsletters]

File contains incoming and outgoing correspondence of AUCE Local 2 (SFU) and newsletter AUCE Anchor dated April 1975 to February 1984. Topics discussed in correspondence include financial struggles and salary erosion at SFU, 1975 strike, requests for financial assistance, support of Teaching Assistant Union, deferral of AUCE Provincial per capita tax payment due to contract negotiations, and certification of employees served by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

File also contains bulletin dated October 2, 1982, which includes agenda for general membership meeting dated October 19, 1982, and report from the delegates to the September 1982 Special Provincial Convention.

Inverness Cannery fonds

The fonds consists of records related to the operation of Inverness Cannery. Records span from the early 1900s all the way through to the 1950s when the cannery was closed and turned into a fish camp. The cannery was owned by J.H. Todd and Sons Ltd. from 1902-1950. The fonds is comprised of seven different series: Correspondence series, Financial series, Fish Canning series, Fish Catching series, Inverness Cannery School series, Legal series, and Publications, Pamphlets and News Clippings series.
