Office log

File consists of the Union Organizer's handwritten office log, dated November 3rd, 1975 to November 17, 1976. The log documents the Organizer's duties and activities, including general administration and organization, phone calls, speaking to members, preparing reports, compiling arbitration cases, office renovation, peparing for membership meetings, writing newsletter articles, recordkeeping, and constructing an office manual.

File also contains correspondence, a Civil Engineering Department list, administrative instructions, reports written by the Organizer, meeting notes, committee membership lists and terms of reference, an executive membership list, and a library loan list.

File also contains "Strike Progress" material, documenting AUCE's strike activity and administration in December 1975. Records include activity logs, an official brief to UBC's Board of Governors, executive meeting minutes, a transcript of a meeting between AUCE and the BC Federation of Labour, and correspondence.

AUCE Annual Convention: amendments, minutes

File contains amendments and resolutions passed in the June 1976 annual Provincial AUCE Convention, and minutes of the convention. Topics discussed at the convention include local reports. Topics of the resolutions and constitutional amendments discussed include affiliation with other unions, a cross-local newsletter, access to research, formation of local sub-committees (such as on wage control), organization of unorganized workers, the per capita tax, the right to strike, absenteeism, office vacancy, strikebreaker discipline, provincial amendment ratification, AUCE staffing and job descriptions, revenue, and office administration.

AUCE Annual Convention

File contains minutes and associated material of the June 1977 Annual AUCE Convention. Topics discussed include the financial report, local reports, affiliation with SORWUC and other unions, resolutions and constitutional amendments, local organizing, union jurisdiction, revenue and finances, amendment ratification, protesting of oil pipeline construction, the right to strike, and union elections. AUCE Sixth Annual Provincial Convention

File contains minutes and associated material of the June 1979 6th Annual Provincial Convention. The agenda includes rules of order, business arising from the 5th Annual Convention, the provincial executive report, local reports from Locals 1 to 6, a resolution to affiliate with the Canadian Labour Congress, constitutional amendments, the presentation of a National Union of Students policy paper entitled "Education - A System in Chaos" (March 1979), and emergency resolutions and amendments. Other topics discussed include maternity benefits and communications with the Provincial. File also includes a copy of the 5th Annual Convention minutes, and a voting card.

Masters

File contains master copies of form letters, and blank vacation entitlement schedules. Form letters include notice of severance, a description of AUCE and Local 1, a notice of reimbursement for lost wages, and a notice of overdue initiation fee.

Strike pay

File contains outgoing and incoming correspondence regarding 1978 strike pay, a list of cheques released to signatories, and statements of earnings. Correspondence includes memoranda to Local 1's union office authorizing release of strike pay cheques to third parties. File also includes Local 2's Annual Report 1978/9 Supplement. Topics discussed include maternity benefits, strike action, negotiations with Simon Fraser University, and committee reports.

File contains Executive Minutes for Local 1, and Full Strike Committee Executive Minutes dated October 15, 1975 to December 16, 1975. [Notebooks of provincial executive minutes]

File contains four notebooks of Melody Rudd, member of Executive Committee. Four handwritten exercise books (notebooks) containing notes on union activities in the form of phone numbers, addresses, to-do lists, lists of supplies, calculations, financial information, scheduling, drafts of correspondence, questions, information about the newsletter, and the activities of Locals 1-6. One of the notebooks appears to have been used for class or personal notes as it mostly contains psychology and mental health information with a section on union and strike activities at the end.

File contains meeting minutes dated February 7, 1976 to November 20, 1976. Topics discussed include disciplinary hearing procedures, membership fees and privileges, executive elections and ballots, reports from Locals, contract negotiations, publishing the newsletter, correspondence, planning the annual convention, collaborations with SORWUC, reports on visits to Nelson and Prince George, information on the fiscal year and financial statements, conducting a referendum, attending training workshops, and the HEU strike at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). File also contains additional copies of minutes and other documents.
