Two reviews and an exhibition announcement

Contains printouts of two novel reviews and an exhibition announcement culled from the web: A review of Eleanor Rigby from the Guardian (October 9, 2004, another review of Eleanor Rigby from readysteadybooks.com (October 17, 2004; Natasha Tripney), and a Government of Canada public announcement for Canada House, Trafalgar Square (UK) exhibit (September 21, 2004).

Two postcards

File contains one postcard addressed to Coupland from "A" sent from Jamaica describing a trip to the country, and one postcard addressed to Coupland from Sentinel Secondary School announcing the 30th Year Reunion Homecoming Weekend in 1992.

Two personal notes

Contains a brief note that originally accompanied an event invite (not included) forwarded to Coupland because the senders thought he might like the design (undated), and a thank you card from someone named Lynn (possibly author Lynn Coady?) thanking Coupland for his blurb, April 1, 2012.

Two letters

Contains two letters. The first is from Michael J. Audain (May 29, 2007), congratulating Coupland on receiving an honorary degree from Simon Fraser University. The second letter is from Antony Korner of Artforum International (January 1, 2007), enclosing Coupland's press card for 2007 (press card not included in the file).

Two clippings related to the libel suit following Evelyn Lau's publication of "Me and W.P."

Contains two clippings related to the libel suit started by author W.P. Kinsella after the 1997 publication of an article entitled "Me and W.P" by Evelyn Lau, a former lover and fellow writer. Coupland, who guest-edited the issue of Vancouver Magazine in which the article appears, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Includes page A11 from the Globe and Mail Arts section (Wednesday, March 4, 1998), and a copy of BC Frank Magazine (Issue 268, March 25, 1998) in which W.P. Kinsella and Evelyn Lau appear on the cover.

Two clippings

Contains a photocopy of an article from Gardening Life magazine (March/April 2003, p. 104), in which Coupland answers questions about his garden, and an article that appears to be from Vancouver magazine (Summer 1995; "A Doug's Life" by Dale Hrabi) on the world premiere screening of Douglas Coupland: Close Personal Friend (directed by Jennifer Cowan) in New York at the Museum of Television and Radio.

Travel arrangements and a boarding pass

Contains an itinerary of a trip by Coupland to the UK (London, Cambridge, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Manchester), Amsterdam, Brussels, and Rotterdam, from Thursday April 16 to Friday, May 1. Also included are publisher contacts, and a stub from a boarding pass, dated April 24th (year uncertain; likely 1998) from Edinburgh to Manchester.

File includes one white t-shirt, with the text "this is really random" in sans-serif black lettering. Associated with Coupland's 1995 novel Microserfs.

The Armory Show 2012 promotional materials

Coupland presented a painting (“Permanent Press Landscape”, 2012, Acrylic on Canvas) at the 2012 Armory Show in Manhattan, New York, (March 8-11, 2012) at the Art Dealers Association of Canada's booth (Pier 94, booth 829). This file contains an Armory Show Map & Show Guide, an Armory Arts Week Calendar, and a booklet on Coupland's exhibition at the ADAC booth.

Taped interviews from Imprint and the Dini Petty Show

Tape (SPVT-007) contains two interviews recorded from television:

1) Imprint, hosted by Daniel Richler interviews Coupland about Generation X. Approximate tape time of interview is from 05:00 to 20:00. Aired on TVOntario; date unknown.

2) The Dini Petty Show, in which Petty discusses Generation X and Shampoo Planet with Coupland. Approximate tape time of the interview is 20:00 to 33:00. The label on the VHS cassette suggests this interview is from November 12, 1991

Sudent fan letter

Includes a letter and envelope from a young student from Calgary, thanking Coupland for writing the book "Terry."

The brief letter concludes with the following: "In conclusion, I'll offer my help anytime you need it."

Simon Fraser University convocation correspondence

File contains two brief letters - the first is a letter from John Ralston Sau (forwarded by his assistant) addressed to the Chancellor of SFU, apologizing for being unable to attend Coupland's conferment ceremony. The second is a congratulations from the SFU Alumni Association, which orginally included a certificate and pin (not included in this file).
