The Armory Show 2012 promotional materials

Coupland presented a painting (“Permanent Press Landscape”, 2012, Acrylic on Canvas) at the 2012 Armory Show in Manhattan, New York, (March 8-11, 2012) at the Art Dealers Association of Canada's booth (Pier 94, booth 829). This file contains an Armory Show Map & Show Guide, an Armory Arts Week Calendar, and a booklet on Coupland's exhibition at the ADAC booth.

Visual art projects

Series consists of visual art objects (collages, sculptures etc.), preparatory notes and sketches, photographs of visual art objects, and publicity related to Coupland’s art installations. Draft program of New Cities Summit Paris 2012

File contains a copy of the Draft Program for the New Cities Summit Paris 2012, Held May 14-16 2012 in Paris, France. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson spoke at the opening plenary on May 14th, where he intended to unveil the V-Pole, designed by Coupland.

Two personal notes

Contains a brief note that originally accompanied an event invite (not included) forwarded to Coupland because the senders thought he might like the design (undated), and a thank you card from someone named Lynn (possibly author Lynn Coady?) thanking Coupland for his blurb, April 1, 2012.

Fashion design projects

Series relates to Coupland’s venture into clothing design in collaboration with Roots Canada Ltd. Under the tagline “Canada Goes Electric,” Coupland designed a limited-edition clothing line as well as various leather goods which were released in stores and online in 2010. This project marked the first time that Roots partnered with an outside designer in this way.

Series includes textual records relating to the design and research of the clothing items. Also included in the series are finished production garments and leather goods, as well as items not approved for production; strikeoffs; fabric and leather samples; and finishing material such as patches, zippers, labels, and fasteners.

Coupland and McCarthy event invitation in Toronto

Contains a print-out of an event invitation hosted by Knopf Canada: "A conversation between Tom McCarthy and Doug Coupland about books, art and the meaning of it all", held October 30th, 2010 at the Rooster Cafe in Toronto.
