The fonds consists of general ledgers, payroll ledgers, invoices, vouchers, fish registers and financial statements generated by A.B.C.'s affiliated canneries (1914-1968). These records originated primarily with the following canneries -- Alert Bay Plant (1947-1968), Boswell Cannery (1924-1934), Caledonia Cannery (1928-1959), Good Hope Cannery (1895-1968), Knight Inlet Cannery (1924-1961), McTavish Canner (1923-1939), North Pacific Cannery (1937-1958), Phoenix Cannery (1915-1967), and Seymour Cannery (1911-1913), as well as Britannia Shipyards (1934-1967).

Fonds consists of correspondence pertaining both to business matters and to Sinclair's writing (1905-1946), as well as personal correspondence with family and friends. Also included are manuscripts of short stories, novelettes and novels. Printed material contained in the fonds includes short stories, poetry, novelettes and novels. Fonds also contains photographs and photographic negatives, as well as log books, notebooks, maps/guidebooks, and ephemera.

The fonds consists of correspondence (1876-1926), subject files (1889-1925) and scrapbooks (1870-1923). The fonds reflects Tupper's interest in politics and public affairs.

The fonds consists of records generated by British Columbia Packers Limited, its predecessor bodies, and individual canneries and plants owned by the company. In addition to financial records, it includes plant appraisements for various canneries and properties owned by B.C. Packers Ltd., as well as Canadian Fish and Cold Storage Company Ltd., Coast Oyster Company, Edmunds and Walker Ltd., J.H. Todd and Sons Limited, Nelson Bros. Fisheries Ltd., Nelbro Packing Co., Queen Charlotte Canners Ltd., Rupert Fish Co. Incorporated and Western Canada Whaling Company Ltd. Those canneries and properties include Alert Bay Cannery, Bella Bella Cannery, Boswell Cannery, Celtic Shipyards, Imperial Plant, Kildonan, Klemtu, Ladner Cannery, Masset, Namu Cannery, New Westminster Cannery, Paramount Cannery, Port Edward Cannery, Prince Rupert Plant, Quathiaski Plant, Richmond Plant, and St. Mungo Cannery. In addition, the fonds consists of fifty printer's blocks for producing lithograph salmon tin labels and approximately 100 plastic cards used for advertising fish products. Also included are miscellaneous items such as the Roll of Honour of the B.C. Canning Company listing men in service during World War I, Fraser River charts (ca. 1929-1947), a sample of receipts for tram passes to B.C., and a framed sheet describing the history of the Bella Coola camp.

The fonds consists of the records of the Brunswick Cannery located at Canoe Pass (1900-1928). It consists of financial records, most notably invoices and receipts from various merchants in the area of the cannery. These records provide some information about the goods and services required by the early canneries and also indicate the costs of such items. The fonds also includes some material from the Anglo-American Cannery Company (1896-1913).

The fonds consists of documents, log books, stock certificates, record books, newspaper articles, pamphlets, canned fish labels, and photographs from Canadian Fishing Company Limited, Gulf of Georgia Canning Company Limited, Manitou Cannery, and the New England Fish Company Limited. In addition, there are subject files, reports and briefs relating to Donovan Miller's activities in the fishing industry.

The fonds consists of correspondence, questionnaires, survey data, reports and related material arising from the 1966/67 survey on metallurgical research in Canada.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, subject files and printed materials related to the NDP Executive Committee, the Labour Policy Committee, Vancouver civic politics, labour education, Canadian Labour Congress, International Woodworkers of America and Brown's work at the Eburne Sawmill.

The fonds consists of records generated by the Lower Mainland Regional Planning Board (1949-1969) and its successor, the Greater Vancouver Regional District Planning Department. It includes correspondence, minutes of meetings, studies, surveys, briefs, discussion papers, reports, plans, maps, graphs and clippings.

The collection consists of minutes of the Fraser River Canners' Association (1900-1909) and the British Columbia Canners' Association (1909-1923) and records from their members' canneries: Acme, Albion, Atlas, Colonial, Celtic, Dinsmore, Great West, Imperial, Pacific Coast, Terra Nova, and Vancouver. The collection also includes 25 scrapbooks of clippings (1900-1923) and photograph albums.

The fonds consists of records collected and created in the course of Southam's research into the life and work of H.R. MacMillan. Fonds includes interview notebooks, sound cassettes, press clippings, and correspondence.

The fonds consists predominantly of textual, graphic, and cartographic materials documenting the efforts of Harley Hatfield, in conjunction with the Okanagan Similkameen Parks Society, the Wilderness Advisory Committee, and the Okanagan Historical Society, to establish the Cascade Wilderness area and the Hudson's Bay Company and Okanagan Brigade. The fonds also includes textual records illustrating Hatfield's research into old fur trading routes in that area. Additional material document facets of Hatfield's personal life and other interests.

Personal and professional records of Kustaa Adolf Ketola, including personal documents, correspondence, International Woodworkers of America pamphlets, newspapers, and magazines. The personal documents include his passport and his military service pass. Correspondence consists of Christmas postcards from his family in Finland and letters from his sisters, friends, and family friends describing their lives in Finland, which provides context about the impact that World War II had upon Finland and Finnish migrants to Canada. I.W.A. pamphlets describe the values, goals, and struggles of union workers in 1940s North America. Fonds also contains small pocket calendars or planners written in Finnish and denoting important holidays, metric conversions, and information about the United States.

The Lumber Inspectors' Union fonds' consists of records necessary for the union to carry out its everyday operations, such as office files, minutes, financial records, correspondence etc. It also includes papers directly relating to the position of the financial secretary. Record types include correspondence, minutes of meetings, agreements, booklets, policies, reports, constitutions, information on other unions , booklets, financial and operating statements, ledgers, particulars on union members, manuals, arbitration cases, and reference material. The bulk of the records fall in the active period of the Union, which was between 1945 and 1980 ; a few records dealing with winding up the Union were also created in 1981 . The fonds has nine series: Operational files ; Minute books ; Financial records ; Financial ledgers ; Application, dues payment, and transfer records ; Arbitration cases reference files ; Register of attendance at meetings ; General information binder; and General reference material . The fonds also contains the Financial Secretary's sous-fonds, which has five series.

The fonds consists of materials pertaining to Stanton's career as a lawyer representing a broad spectrum of industrial unions such as the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union, International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers (Canada), International Woodworkers of America and the Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union as well as individual cases relating to the workplace. There are also articles relating to the foundation and activities of various unions, the ILWU in particular, as well as copies of union constitutions and by-laws. There are case records of the ILWU vs. Nissho and Pacific Coast Hydrocarbons, and correspondence pertaining to Harold Pritchett, in particular dealing with his entry into the United States and documents relating to the "Greenhill Park" disaster of 1945. There are also files created by Stanton in representing his clients that formed the basis for his published autobiography "Never Say Die".

The fonds consists of professional and personal records (1942-1965) as well as records of the Canadian Olympic Association (1969-1980), the Canadian Field Hockey Association (1963-1972), the Committee Organisateur de les Jeux Olympique (1970-1976), and the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (1952-1976).

The fonds consists of plans of fishing vessels built by W.R. Menchions for various companies and individuals including a seine patrol and towboat (1914-1915), cannery tender (1924-1926), seine boat (1925), and specifications and contracts for gasoline boats, seine boats and fishing boats (1914-1935). The fonds also includes one photograph of the vessel Frieda of the Kakiak Fishing Co.

The fonds consists of records reflecting the activities of the Guild as representative of seamen working on the west coast, hiring agency, collective bargaining body, and lobby group. The fonds includes minutes of Guild meetings, an extensive group of subject files, business records, and personal office files of Guild officers reflect the organization's active involvement in marine education, safety regulation development, marine standards, and open representation.

The fonds consists of photographs of mines, mining activities, and mining personnel created and collected for use in the Western Miner and its predecessor publications, The Miner and the British Columbia Miner. Images include aerial views as well as ground level shots of mine sites, buildings, townsites, mining, milling, smelting and other mineral processing operations. The photographs include exteriors and interiors of mines and buildings, crews at work, and a collection of portraits of company executives, staff and Canadian politicians. Mining equipment is featured including excavators, diamond drills, continuous miners, loaders, shuttle cars, muckers, ore conveyors, and drilling rigs.

The fonds consists of drafts of a long version and a short version of an unpublished manuscript, "Running Scared", as well as notebooks and subject files dealing with the consequences of dieselization of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in the Revelstoke Division betweek 1957 and 1984. Powell collected extensive documentation from the relevant unions, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen and the United Transportation Union, in response to this event and it is included in the fonds.

The fonds consists of a number of typewritten manuscripts for short articles by Dr. Walkem as well as clippings of published articles. The fonds also includes Walkem's incomplete autobiography, a scrapbook of clippings relating to his experiences as a MLA and photographs.

The fonds consists of records of the Personnel, Safety, and Physical Plant and Maintenance departments of the Canadian White Pine Division of MacMillan Bloedel Limited, as well as some records of the Division's Manager and other divisions. The fonds includes administrative, personnel, project, and subject files containing correspondence, memoranda, reports, statistics, financial records, statements, organizational charts, brochures, newsletters, and other records. The fonds also includes many plans, photographs and slides and some artifacts. It has been arranged into the following series: Personnel Department records (1923-1997, predominantly 1941-1989); Records of the Manager (1938-1946, 1968-1974); Safety Department records (1938-1978, predominantly 1952-1976); Physical Plant and Maintenance Department records (1920-1998, predominantly 1946-1982); and general photographs (1940-1981).

The collection consists of photocopied correspondence, class lists and course outlines from the Northern Workers' Education Association and the University of Sudbury Extension Department, and photographs and interviews with Western Canadian leaders of the IUMMSW. The material was used in the preparation of his 1985 history of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers (Canada). Fonds includes sound cassettes of interviews regarding union history.

The fonds consists of a B.C. Forest Branch report (1913) and photographs and maps relating to the development of Kitimat as part of the Alcan, B.C. Project.

The fonds consists of company minutes (1924-1963), repair orders (1927-1959), annual reports, working plans and drawings for various pieces of machinery and machine parts.

The fonds consists of minutes of Council No. 7 (1902-1921, 1938-1951), minutes of Council No. 4 (n.d.), financial records, agreements, membership and attendance records, towboat grievances, printed material, credit union material, all relating to the NAME. Also included are Ladies' Auxiliary records and L.H. Charlton's correspondence.

The fonds consists of Kurihara's photographs of Japanese-Canadian fishermen, their families, and daily life in the fishing community of Steveston, B.C.

The fonds consists of minutes for the Boilermakers' and Iron Shipbuilders' Union of Canada, Local No. 1 (1943-45) and Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union, Local No. 1 (1945-77), general correspondence (1956-68), membership correspondence (1960-68), Workmen's Compensation records (1956-75), photographs, transcripts of interviews with pioneer members of the Union, printed material, and draft manuscript for "A History of Shipbuilding in British Columbia".

The Norris fonds documents the legal and judicial career of the Honourable Mr. Justice Thomas G. Norris. The papers date between 1906 and 1976, with the bulk of records dating between 1930 and 1975 documenting his law practice and his years on the Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia.
Part I of the fonds consists largely of correspondence and printed material, including scrapbooks relating to the Industrial Commission as well as case notes and legal papers relating to other cases, 1947 - 71, (2 meters). Owing to a previous donation of annotated transcripts of the hearings of the "Industrial Commission as to Shipping in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River System" in 1963, other material relating to the investigation of the activities of Harold Banks was donated in December, 1989. The 108 volumes and index to the hearings are catalogued (SP HE 769 A25).
Part II of the fonds consists of professional files, judicial subject files, case files, personal papers, miscellaneous papers and photographs (7 meters).
Part III of the fonds consists of professional correspondence donated by Jerry Vanson of Kelowna in 2011, as well as personal correspondence, scrapbooks, and photographs donated by Norris’ grandson, also named Thomas Norris, in 2014.

The bulk of the records in the fonds are located in Part II in the Professional Files, Judicial Subject Files, Case Files, and Personal Papers series.

The Professional Files series, including materials newly processed in 2019, consists mostly of case files generated by Norris during his years as a lawyer in Kelowna and Vancouver. Also included in this series are subject files with additional information about areas of interest. For example, Norris created several files with documentation on the Associated Fruit Growers Ltd. and other marketing boards (1927 - 49). Other interesting subjects include the Kelowna Police Inquiry (1929-30), the Japanese claim Commission (1950), Rex v. Ducharme - murder case (1950), and politics (1932-35). The ''Politics" files provide a great deal of information about Norris' Conservative party interests and the process behind the appointment of a lawyer to Queen's counsel. Additional professional files created while Norris was practicing law in Kelowna (file#663-1109) were discovered and donated in August, 1990. The file list for these materials is now located on pages 34-39 of this finding aid.
The Judicial Subject Files series in Part II documents Norris' career on the Bench and his subject interests. The files include correspondence surrounding his appointment to various levels of the judiciary, files created during his judicial career and other judicial matters. For example, files often contain judgements, cases considered, clippings and other related materials. The case of Regina vs Bob & White documents the various issues considered before a decision was handed down on aboriginal hunting and fishing rights in B.C. Also included in this series are documents relating to the St. Lawrence Seaway Inquiry. Other files include subjects of the law such as divorce, Native Indians and Legal Aid. Files also included records created about the Admiralty Court, the Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia and the Yukon Territorial Courts.
The Case Files series in Part II includes court documents and notes drafted by Norris. These case files were separated from other case files by Norris probably because of personal interests and the volume of materials. Each subseries of records document a case: Buttle Lake, in Strathona Park (1951), the Vancouver Policy Inquiry (1955), B.C. Telephone's Application for rate increases (1950), Royal Commission on Energy (1958) and Gordon Wismer v. MacLean Hunter (1954). The Buttle Lake files include transcripts of hearings conducted in Courtenay and Victoria, notes and some materials related to submissions presented to the Water Comptroller. Norris represented several groups opposed to the construction of the dam at Buttle Lake. The Wismer v. MacLean-Hunter files include examinations for discovery of Blair Fraser and Gordon S. Wismer, briefs and other materials used by Norris as he represented the Attorney General of B.C., Gordon S. Wismer against MacLean-Hunter magazine in a slander and libel suit.
The Personal Papers series in Part II reflects Norris’ personal interests, and also contains business or legal materials. For example, in this series are files and correspondence relating to the Law Society of B.C., the Law Society & Yale Bar Association meeting in 1958 and arrangements for the 1952 Judge Advocate luncheon. Other files reflect upon friendships with individuals such as Hugh Keenlyside and Leon Koerner. Materials newly added to this series in 2019 contain items such as travel souvenirs, birthday messages from Norris’ friends and family, and information related to Norris’ retirement. The Army Papers subseries contains records related to the time Norris spent serving in the Canadian military in World War II. These records range from 1939 to 1959, with the bulk of the records dating between 1941 and 1945.
