The collection consists of research materials collected by Frank Tester and Glenn Drover. A large part of the fonds consists of newspaper clippings from the 1980s and 1990s related to Canadian and international Indigenous issues. Also included are copies of British Columbia provincial statutes and regulations dealing primarily with local First Nations issues, reports, and other materials documenting Indigenous communities' history in British Columbia and throughout Canada, focusing mainly on child welfare issues.

The collection also incorporates materials collected by Glenn Drover, former Director of the School of Social Work (1983-90). Drover was an accomplished scholar and a dedicated advocate for social justice in Canada and globally. He was recognized for his lifetime contributions to Canadian social work when the annual national social worker award was named the Glenn Drover Award for Outstanding Service. He worked with the Cree in the North, with youth in New York City, people in various countries of Africa and Asia, and various social welfare programs.

Fonds contains records pertaining to the separate careers and personal lives of both Verna Huffman Splane and Richard Splane, and their life together as a couple. Work records reflect Richard’s work in Alberta, his time in the RCAF, and his lengthy career in the federal government as well as Verna’s work for WHO, the federal government, and as a faculty member at UBC and the University of Victoria. The Operations and Administration series contains records related to the PWN’s administrative activities and day-to-day operations including the Board of Directors’ policies and procedures, operational budgets and applications for operational funding, correspondence with other organizations, strategic planning for the organization, and organizational budgets.

The Support and Education series consists of records related to the PWN’s various resources for training and supporting PWN members, their friends and family, health care providers, and the larger community as a whole. Record types include retreat materials, toolkits, pocket guides, training kits, educational materials, Positive Side newsletters, magazines, workshop materials, artwork, memorial and guest books, and other materials.
