History
Patrick Lane was born in a Kootenay mountain town, Sheep Creek. He moved to Vancouver after the death of his brother Red Lane in 1964. He began Very Stone House Press with Bill Bissett and a group of others in 1964 and then moved to Trumansburg, New York in 1969 to work on the New American and Canadian Poetry periodical. Lane has conducted numerous poetry readings throughout Canada and the United States and has been recognized with Canada Council Awards and grants as well as Ontario Arts Council Awards. In 1972 Lane was awarded the York University Poetry Award for his book Mountain Oysters.
