Biographical history
Larry was raised north of Lundbreck, Alberta and attended University of Alberta in Edmonton. He later completed post graduate studies with an Honours Master of Arts from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The curator of the Doukhobor Discovery Centre in Castlegar B.C. since 1993, Ewashen previously worked in theatre and film, a career which included directorships and instructorships in the United Kingdom and Canada, as well as free-lance work.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of records related to the documentary film which Ewashen directed entitled In search of utopia: the Doukhobors, produced under the name Gemini Cooperative for the Performing Arts. Other individuals involved in the film included Ray Gallon, Koozma Tarasoff and Ken Innes. Records consist of two copies of the film on reels, a shot book containing copies of historical photographs and correspondence, contracts and other textual records related to the production and promotion of the film, and a teacher’s manual and study guide.
