Series consists of paper-bound typescripts of the story "ShanLing or the Tale of the Celestial Tea-Pot (A Christmas Fantasy)" and the prose essays "Theirs by Adoption" and "A Question of Honour." Also included are two large ring-bound folders containing many short prose works. The first folder in the series includes: "This Side of East: Sketches from a Japanese Notebook," "Black, White and a Touch of Red," "The Ghost that Wasn't" and "The Unwanted Messenger." The second folder in the series includes: "Supplement to the Sutras of the Speechificators. Commonly Known as the Prayer Book by Hans Pusch," "The Imperial Reply. A Tragedy in One Act," "First Aid for Flowers," "The Souls of Flowers" and "Blossom Time in Canada."

Accrual adds to the existing series two notebooks of typed poems. One notebook is subdivided by year (1970, 1971, 1972) and the other notebook is subdivided by first by year (1973) and then by subject or “mood” (Poetic, Tranquil,Descriptive, Apperceptive, Turbulent, Humourous, and Personal.)

Series consists of typescripts of two plays: "Antidote to Chaos" and The Jade Heart. The third item in this series includes a list of performers and pencil drawings of costumes for The Jade Heart. It contains an explanatory note: "The first three pages are from the original manuscript used for the first production at the Rudolf Steiner School."

Series contains correspondence sent by Sir William Osler to various recipients. The majority of the letters deal with Osler’s interest in book collecting, while others discuss possible position appointments. There is also a copy of <i>A physician’s anthology of English and American poetry</i>.

Series consists of clippings, correspondence, notes and legal documents related to the Trinity Western University v. British Columbia College of Teachers case heard in the Supreme Court of Canada in 2001. Berger represented the British Columbia College of Teachers, who had denied an application for teacher’s program from Trinity Western University, based on the grounds that the University did not allow homosexual students.

Series contains material on the various tree farm licenses owned and operated by Western Forest Products and their predecessors. Material covers the lifecycle of involvement the forestry company had with the tree farm license from application to final reports. The majority of the records pertain to the activities of MacMillan Bloedel from the 1970s to the 1990s. The series is divided into three subseries: Projects, Working and Management Plans, and Maps.

The series contains records created or collected during Simons’ travels, especially from 1967-1968. Simons’ experiences while traveling were deeply influential in her literary works, particularly her dramatic works of the 1970s. Simons took three major trips in her life: a two-year tour of Europe, including England and France, from 1959-1961; a ten-week trip to Japan, Hong Kong, and India from 1967-1968, achieved with funding from a Canada Council travel grant; and several weeks in Hong Kong, Burma, India, and Japan in 1986. While abroad, Simons attended many plays, as well as several conferences and art shows. Simons collected programs from these events and generated some correspondence and notes during this period.

Records related to Simons’ travels have been grouped physically and in this finding aid. Files are ordered chronologically, and each contains programs and correspondence from a specific trip or country (e.g. Europe in 1960; Japan in 1967). Record types include programs, photographs, and personal and professional correspondence.

Series documents the work of Kathleen Kudo to translate Minoru Kudo’s diaries as well as the research performed by the Kudo family to document the history and experiences of the Mission City Japanese Community.

Records in this series include logs relating to the translation and photocopying activity of Kathleen Merken; her translation notes; additional documents related to ideas about publication and framing of the diaries and their historical value; and printed versions of the translations in various states of drafting. During the process of translation, Merken removed clippings and other ephemera that were initially preserved within the diaries of Minoru Kudo and placed them in their corresponding chronological place within the translations. As a result, these materials are also included within this series.

The series contains materials collected by Ian McDonald for the purposes of writing his Master’s thesis on the history of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 213, from 1901 to 1961. Materials within the series include collective agreements, newspaper and journal articles, court case summaries, interview transcriptions, census tables, meeting minutes, correspondence and dissertations; most materials are photocopies rather than original documents, however.

Also included are materials that pertain to the Lenkurt strike of 1966, which McDonald omitted from his original thesis to limit its scope. He took up the events surrounding the Lenkurt strike in a later essay, “Spontaneity Went Out with Spartacus: IBEW Local 213, Les McDonald, and the Lenkurt Strike of 1966,” which McDonald regards as a continuation of his Master’s research; the essay is also part of the series.

NIMR/The Roeher Institute/IRIS promote the equality, participation and self-determination of people with intellectual and other disabilities, by examining the causes of marginalization and by providing research, information and social development opportunities. As a part of this, they studied and presented policy alternatives for those with intellectual disabilities.

Records included in this series are correspondence and publications produced by NIMR, and documents on Program Analysis of Service Systems (PASS) and Jackie Maniago's involvement in using PASS for assessing service quality at institutions in Canada. The series also has publications published by The Roeher Institute, but the majority of the records cover the time period when the organization was known as NIMR. Item is a pamphlet containing the paper that Cotsworth presented to the Royal Society of Canada . Sir Sandford Fleming's introductory address to the Royal Society of Canada is also included in the pamphlet. Cotsworth discusses the history of calendars, the difficulties inherent in the Gregorian calendar, and the benefits and ease of changing to a calendar having thirteen months of four weeks each.

Series consists of correspondence, pamphlets, poems, minutes, reports, applications, evaluations and other records pertaining to Miki's teaching and academic activities. Includes correspondence between Miki and colleagues at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and other academic institutions, as well as correspondence relating to Miki’s research activities and his involvement and communication with various interest groups and associations. Series also includes projects, papers, correspondence and evaluations relating to courses taught by Miki at SFU, publications by writers who Miki arranged to have visit SFU, and reports, correspondence, and applications pertaining to Government grant and work study funding of projects proposed by or supported by Miki. Series also includes minutes and related correspondence and reports of a committee to establish a Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing at SFU.

In 1979 TLR struck a committee to determine whether TLR should disband or reorganize its operations. Jack Farley was nominated chair of the committee. The main reasons for the concern were that it was having difficulty uniting the industry, difficulty convincing the B.C. legislature to address the needs of its members and not having the bargaining strength to force the Teamsters Union to address the issues. The committee had a six month mandate to come up with recommendations. This series includes terms of reference of the committee, notes and correspondence.

Series consists of handwritten and typewritten copies of talks and lectures for the UVIC school of Nursing, Royal Jubilee Hospital's medical staff, Nurses' Association Seminar (November 1973), and VGH graduation.

Series consists of records about Swedish migration to and within Canada and Swedish-Canadian cultural life. Records include clippings about Swedish Lucia holiday celebrations, manuscripts and research about Swedish-Canadian history, including song books and writing on Swedish literature in BC, and correspondence and rental receipts concerning Swedish film showings in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Materials related to the operations of the Scandinavian School of English, including photographs and sets of English vocabulary and grammar cue cards, are also included. An album containing photographs of Swedish-Canadian migrants with handwritten notes is included.

Series contains research material Seaholm collected or created on the Swedish Canadian Rest Home located in Burnaby BC. Records include handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, and copies of reports. The photographs are of the Rest Home.

During the 1960s, Seaholm received a grant from the New Horizon program to write a history about Swedish immigration to Canada. Although he never finished writing a book about this topic, this collection contains much of his research related to this ambition. The collection consists of correspondence, reports, minute books, newspaper and magazine issues and clippings, periodicals, books pertaining to Sweden and/or Swedish immigrant history, and research material about Swedish activities in North America. The series also contains a photograph collection of the Swedish community in British Columbia.

The series contains eight subseries: General research material; Photo collection; "They left something behind" collection; Book Collection; Swedish Pioneer Historical Quarterly periodicals; The Bridge (Brggyan in Swedish); Swedish Press Publishing Company; and Newspaper clippings and miscellaneous articles.

Series consists of letters written by Arthur Hughes to Susan Lushington between 1898 and 1915, primarily between 1912 and 1915. Lushington's father was a patron of Hughes, and Susan herself purchased paintings from Hughes as an adult. Hughes also painted Susan with her sisters and mothers in 1884 ("The Home Quartette."). In his letters to Susan, Hughes writes about his paintings and illustrations and day-to-day life including visitors, correspondents and weather. The letters have been arranged by month and year into files by the archivist.

Series consists of records pertaining both to the social and economic conditions of Aboriginal families in B.C., as well as to the proposed cannery at Port Simpson by the Pacific North Coast Cooperative. Records include surveys conducted by BCANSI, questionnaires, and reports.

The survey photography series consists of photographic material compiled by Devitt over decades of field work in British Columbia. The albums include black and white photos as well as multiple sets of 35mm. slides. These color slides cover the evolution from natural regeneration, bare root nurseries to tree planting. Also featured are processes for tree seed registration, tree selection and grafting into seed orchards for seed extraction and storage. The series also includes photograph prints of people and events related to the forestry industry in British Columbia.

Series contains the personal subject file and related files to George Gee. The series is comprised of entries created by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Security Service, and span over thirty years of surveillance and information gathering on the subject, including his affiliation with the Communist Party of Canada, his involvement in, and ultimate expulsion from the Union, and his general activities while he was under surveillance. It also contains Joyce Gee's correspondence with Library Archives Canada requesting access to the files.

Series consists of records related to the Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative. The Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative is believed to have been Surrey's first berry cooperative and was created sometime in the 1920s. While many of the farmers were Japanese, membership was not restricted by ethnicity. It is unknown when the Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative dissolved, but presumably sometime after 1952.

Records in this series include correspondence related to land and property owned by the Cooperative that was confiscated after many of the farmers were interned and their land and property confiscated. Correspondence consists of between Zennosuke Inouye and other members of the Cooperative, between Zennosuke and banks and businesses regarding the Cooperative, and correspondence with a family who helped hide some of the Cooperative's property from the Office of the Custodian.

Other records include alist farmers in the Cooperative that purchased Victory Bonds in 1942, a hand-drawn map and list of all the farmers in the Surrey Berry Growers Cooperative in 1941, and accounts and receipts belonging to the Cooperative.
