The subseries contains the original finding aid and collection information made by the Icelandic Archives of British Columbia for the Dora Hatton collection. The subseries also contains a manuscript written by Hatton’s father, Halldor Eriksson about his life and participation in different Icelandic communities in Canada. Additionally, the subseries contains a large series of family photographs and a scrapbook of the Eriksson and Hatton families.

Subseries contains song information collected by Thomas. Material includes song lyrics, music sheets, photographs, and articles about individual songs. Subseries is arranged alphabetically according to song title.

The collection consists of a record of B.C. History of Nursing Group displays from 1997 to 2001 in the Woodward Medical Library, the Board Room of the Registered Nurses Association of B.C. building, and the lobby of the RNABC building, with a file of photographs from the Royal Columbia Hospital Nursing Week in May 2006.

The first displays were presented in nine glass cases in the Woodward Biomedical Library at UBC during the spring and summer of 1997 in connection with the International History of Nursing Conference and the Congress of the International Council of Nurses.

In early 1998 the group purchased a display cabinet for the Board Room of RNABC at 2855 Arbutus, Vancouver. At this time the Group also began nursing displays on a bulletin board at the RNABC Library.

In April 2000 the Group purchased a wood and fibre glass dress form to display period nursing uniforms in the lobby of the RNABC building, and further promote interest in the history of nursing.

The majority of the work spent in co-ordinating recent displays, keeping records, and gathering this material, was done by Jill Thompson-Beaudreau, who died in November, 2001. Others involved in the creation of displays include Irene Goldstone, Helen Shore, Janet Gormick, Sheila Zerr, Beth Fitzpatrick, Glennis Zilm, Ethel Warbinek and Nina Rumen.

Most (not all) files contain photographic records of the displays, and most include some description of the exhibit, including the location and the creators of the display.

This subseries contains project files that the Trans Himalayan Aid Society (TRAS) organised and funded together with the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Most projects are related to environmental, health and community development.

Sub-series reflects Burch’s career with British Columbia Forest Products and other significant events during that time, such as his wedding, tours, trips, retirement, and the dedication of the Gerry Burch Working Forest. Several files relate to other foresters and their careers, which arrived from Burch in several accruals. Subseries contains textual records pertaining to Ursula Franklin's "Every Tool Shapes the Task: Communities & the Information Highway" publication in Lazara Press' Discussion Series. The subseries contains drafts of the publication, as well as the final copy. Other records include correspondence, the contract between Franklin and Lazara Press, distribution information, and newsclippings.

The regional presiding officer reported to the executive committee on concerns brought forth by different regions. S/he was also responsible for a range of activities promoting standards of care in their region.

Subseries consists mainly of agenda and minutes, along with correspondence, President’s, secretary’s, finance and education committee reports, minutes and other documents.

YWCA Metro Vancouver and YWCA of Canada both maintain a relationship with the World YWCA located in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as with local associations globally. This is accomplished via: participation in World Councils held every four years; YWCA Metro Vancouver’s receipt of newsletters, reports, and other publications by both the World YWCA and by national or local YWCA associations; and communications between YWCA Metro Vancouver and local YWCAs from outside of Canada. From 1969 to 1986, YWCA Metro Vancouver also engaged with the World YWCA via the Y’s Owl Shop, a craft group of YWCA Metro Vancouver that raised funds for the World YWCA.

Records consist of annual reports, Council reports, occasional reports, publications, newsletters, correspondence, and other materials arising from YWCA Metro Vancouver’s and the YWCA of Canada’s interactions with the World YWCA and with national and local YWCAs outside of Canada. Material arising from interactions between the World YWCA and YMCAs is also kept in this subseries.

Subseries documents the development of Philip J. Thomas’ book of folk songs entitled <I>Songs of the Pacific Northwest</I>, which was published in 1979. Material includes correspondence, proofs, permissions, and reviews for the book. Subseries is arranged alphabetically by material genre.

Subseries contains publications on silvicultural practices by external entities in the 1980s and 1990s. The external entities include government departments and silvicultural companies.

Subseries consists of a 2003 unsuccessful submission to the Vancouver International Writers’ and Readers’ Festival Poetry & Short Story Contest, “Older Road Travel”, which appeared in the Vancouver Courier July 14, 2006, and a letter from the organization.

Subseries includes minutes, agendas, meeting notes, internal election information, and voting and attendance records for Pro-CAN's Steering Committee and General Membership meetings from 1987 to 2005.

Subseries consists of mostly published material on the contributions of Canadian nurses to the war effort, particularly World Wars I and II.

Subseries consists of historical documents and photographic material relating to the history of nursing in BC generally. Years covered range from 1912 to the present.

Subseries consists of articles, newspaper clippings, correspondence, brochures, photographs, and artifacts related to common anti-choice behaviors. Articles and newspaper clippings follow the various tactics reported on by third parties and correspondence is mainly between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters sharing information with one another. Many of the files focus on anti-choice violence in Canada and abroad, primarily on the rash of attacks committed against abortion doctors in the 1990s. Artifacts include an anti-choice package featuring a plastic fetus and card detailing fetal development as well as an "international pro-life symbol" lapel pin.

Subseries consists of official government briefs, statements, reports, and correspondence related to laws that Pro-CAN felt necessary to keep for reference purposes. Copies and excerpts of some of the named acts are included, as well as published findings of the Royal Commissions on New Reproductive Technologies, Healthcare and Costs, and the Status of Women.

Records in this subseries relate to the BC NDP’s activities in support of the 2004 Canadian federal election.

The 38th Canadian federal election was held on June 28, 2004, following the dissolution of the previous House of Commons on May 23rd, 2004 by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, on the advice of Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin. The federal New Democratic Party, now under the leadership of Jack Layton, ran a full slate of 308 candidates, and managed to secure 19 seats, up from the 14 seats held at the time of dissolution, with 5 of these seats secured in British Columbia. The next federal election was not held until 2006.

Records in this subseries have been made by two different individual creators. Files 424-10 to 424-21 have been created by David Bieber, Director of Communications. Files 425-01 to 425-05 have been created by Russ Neely, Director of Organization.

Files include correspondence, polls, reports, strategy and messaging documents, reports, notes, meeting minutes and agendas, public communications, and other related materials.

Subseries consists of edited drafts of “Redress,” records from the Redress Exhibit at the Japanese Canadian National Museum, correspondence with publishers and editors, as well as publicity materials including transcriptions from interviews and book reviews.

Subseries contains textual records pertaining to Linda Hall Pinder's "The Carriers of No: After the Land Claims Trial" publication in Lazara Press' Discussion Series. The subseries contains drafts of the publication, as well as the final copy. Other records include correspondence, cataloguing information, and book catalogues.

Sub-series consists of communication records that do not appear to have been shared with the public outside the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) at the time of their creation; the sub-series reflects the internal activities of the NAJC. Records include an extensive amount of correspondence (which includes interoffice correspondence, correspondence between NAJC members and members of the Canadian government, correspondence between different chapters of the NAJC, and correspondence between the NAJC and various other individuals) on topics such as the redress campaign, the success of achieving settlement, financial operations, implementing compensations after settlement, information and updates on various meetings, conferences and events, the passing of motions, contract proposals, collaboration with and support of other groups (such as the Indigenous peoples of North America), the Nikkei Voice, funds, and other topics. Records also include cards, reports, newsletters, faxes, memos, printed emails, and letter files.

Sub-series contains records related to conferences, symposia, panels, and other events that Miki attended, presented at, or helped to organize. These include programs and abstracts, correspondence, travel itineraries and invoices, news clippings, application forms, audio and video recordings of proceedings, audio recordings of interviews with Miki regarding the Writing thru race conference, photographs of conference speakers and attendees, and other records. Conferences and events relate to Miki’s literary, academic, and political activities and interests.

Subseries contains maps, reports, and informational packages on various tree farm license projects carried out by Western Forest Products and its predecessors. The subseries is arranged by project.

Subseries was created between 2000 and 2003. It is made up of mail art and other correspondence received by Banana through the Mail Art Network during this time. Discussions of the validity of mail art online continue. Banana keeps fewer correspondents during this period and beyond, focusing much of her energy on maintaining existing relationships.

Items in this subseries are predominantly letters and envelopes, often decorated, but also include photographs, drawings, xerox art, found objects and small sculptural items, collage, and other visual mediums, often integrated into the letters and envelopes.

Subseries includes records of invitations and catalogues Banana received for various mail art shows and publication over the course of her involvement with the Mail Art Network, as well as some works which she compiled for inclusion in those shows. This includes letters of invitation directly addressed to Banana, open calls for submission, lists of participating artists, show posters and booklets, and packets of mail art sent for specific shows or publications.

Materials include show catalogues, posters, invitation letters, postcards, zines, envelopes, and graphic materials.

Subseries consists of contracts, correspondence and course materials dating from 1979 to 2004.

Subseries consists of CDs and DVDs containing material dating from 1990 to 2004. Content includes History of Nursing News publications, photographs, presentations and video productions related to nursing.

Sub-series consists of research notes, interview transcripts, draft fragments, four complete drafts of the manuscript of Redress: inside the Japanese Canadian call for justice, and photographs related to Japanese Canadian internment during WWII and the movement for redress in the 1980s.

Subseries consists of minutes relating to the Pediatric Nurses’ Group. Arranged according to the PNG fiscal year, which began in May and ended the following June.

Scope and content: The sub-series contains records related to the Women and AIDS Virtual Education (WAVE) project. The project was launched to support HIV + women in British Columbia to share dialogue about being HIV positive, to provide access to medical and treatment information, peer support, counselling, resources, education, ‘experts’, such as doctors, lawyers, nutritionists and treatment experts, and to break-down isolation and stigma faced by HIV + women, particularly women in rural areas. WAVE was modelled as a ‘virtual drop-in clinic’ website, and contained question and answer online modules, bulletin boards for HIV + women and community members, and resources such as newsletters, brochures, and links to other important websites.

Record types in the sub-series include project reports, correspondence, financial records, strategy documents, web design and marketing proposals, press releases, and materials related to website such as domain name purchase and IBM customer agreement.

In 2004, Coupland produced a series of paper nests, inspired by those that wasps create. To make these nests, Coupland hand-chewed pages from two of his novels. The series contains samples of this paper in various stages of being pulped.

The Publication and author files subseries contains files with marketing and promotional records that are specific to an author and/or a publication.

Subseries contains copies of books Thomas found during his research which he then had bound. The majority of books deal with folk music, while others focus on labour disputes in British Columbia. Note that this series does not include <I>Songs of the Pacific Northwest</I>. Material includes proofs, copies, and notes. Subseries is arranged alphabetically according to book title.

Subseries consists of materials pertaining to the sale of Lansdowne's artwork, his services as a commercial painter, and his business relationship with M.F. Feheley Arts Company Limited and TDF Artists Limited. There are also a few personal financial records such as bank papers, bills, and receipts (including a number of receipts related to antique purchases/sales).

Subseries consists of three copies of the newsletter, with an article by Blais in each.

Sub-series consists of general monthly sales reports as well as sales and/or service fee reports for the Literary Press Group, Marvin Melnyk, the University of Toronto, Inland Book Company and various other distributors.

Files in this subseries reflect the activities of the Women’s Rights Committee of the BC NDP, including its various subcommittees, committee liaisons, and coordination with the federal NDP Participation of Women Committee.

According to a 1992 document prepared by Anne Frost, past WRC Chair, and Charley Bersford, WRC Chair (“Women’s Rights Committee: Herstory”, 1992, in file 450-12), the Women’s Rights Committee was officially made a standing committee of the New Democratic Party of BC by a motion passed at Convention in 1971, building on previous women’s councils and federal women’s committees in the BC NDP and the CCF. The Committee’s mission statement in 1992 was “To guarantee fairness and equality for women in British Columbia; to address the roots of systemic discrimination and initiate legislation, services and programs to ensure women equal participation in all aspects of society; and to ensure access for all women to social justice” (“Mission Statement & Goals for Women’s Equality in a New Democratic Government,” WRC, spring 1992; in file 455-04). The Committee sought to achieve these goals through a variety of activities reflected in the files contained within this subseries, including authoring white papers on women’s issues, producing handbooks (such as the “Winning Nominations” handbook, created to assist women seeking to run for and win nominations in provincial elections; found in files 449-17 and 449-20), organizing workshops, producing and distributing a publication focused on women’s issues (entitled “Priorities” and launched in 1972; see for example file 450-05), introducing motions on gender-related issues at Convention, and more.

The Committee has its own executive structure, including Table Officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer), Past-Chair, Priorities Coordinator, Democrat Page, POW Representative (the federal NDP women’s committee, known as Participation of Women), a Women’s Rights Organizer (WRC paid staff position), as well as regional representatives for the electoral constituencies, members at large, and representatives from and to other committees, such as the Young New Democrats, the Policy Review Committee, etc. Further, the WRC also formed its own subcommittees to engage with particular issues, such as the Nomination Support Committee, or the Committee on Sexist Behaviour. Like the BC NDP itself, these positions were generally elected at Convention, and “all women who are members in good standing of the B.C. New Democratic Party are eligible to attend Women’s Rights Committee Steering Committee meetings and have both voice and vote, except on money matters.” (“Women’s Rights Committee – Membership & Structure,” June 24, 1992; in file 450-07).

File 449-18 contains a copy of the “WRC Objectives -1992/93,” which gives a general sense of the goals and strategies of the WRC at the time, while file 456-05 contains the most recent draft constitution of the WRC included in this accrual (January 2003). Other materials in this subseries include meeting minutes and agenda, handwritten notes, correspondence, financial documents, reports, convention materials, memoranda and public communications, clippings, and other related materials.

This subseries contains project files that the Trans Himalayan Aid Society (TRAS) organised and funded together with the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG). Most of these projects are related to sustainable energy.

Subseries consists of reports, minutes, meeting notes, and correspondence related to the creation and maintenance of various government-sponsored projects in support of pro-choice aims. Correspondence mainly relates to Pro-CAN's lobbying of government agencies on behalf of abortion rights and support as well as its input on the aforementioned projects.

Polls were a regular part of election preparations for the BC NDP, and over time, many different companies were engaged by the New Democrats to conduct baseline polls, panels, and focus groups. While polls were often conducted specifically leading up to an election, they would be used to gauge public sentiment throughout the year, and many polls prepared by and for third parties were consulted, analyzed, and kept on hand as well. Though their original placement within the Provincial Offices is unknown, at the time of their receipt by RBSC, these files grouped together, suggesting that they had been maintained as such throughout their active use.

This subseries contains polls, drafts, correspondence, public communications, clippings, and other related materials. The subseries contains the records of at least 4 individuals, and 2 positions. The majority of the records have been created by the Provincial Secretary (held by 3 different individuals over the course of the subseries), with a subset of records created by a campaign organizer - though other files suggest he may have been the Director of Communications at the time. Based on the contents of the files, the records appear to be created as follows:

Subseries consists of records related to Asian immigration to and settlement in North America. These records pertain predominantly to Chinese immigration and settlement in British Columbia, but also include records pertaining to other Asian diaspora as well as other regions of Canada and the United States. These records document early Asian immigration and settlement following the gold rush, such as the Chinese role in the construction of the transcontinental railway, where Chinese workers were assigned the most dangerous jobs, and anti-Asian sentiment in Canada. Other records in this subseries include materials related to Canadian immigration policy and multiculturalism in Canada, Chinese-language educational materials and children's books, Chinese business and residential directories, city directories for Vancouver and Victoria, and materials related to the Sino-Japanese War. As immigration in this context pertains both to first-generation immigrants as well as their families and descendants, records in this subseries also illustrate the Asian experience in Canada and highlight the development of Asian communities, including social, cultural, religious, political, sporting, and educational activities as well as the activities of organisations such as Chinese trade societies, the Chinese Benevolent Association, the Chinese Canadian Association, and the Chinese Nationalist League of Canada.

This subseries also contains an extensive collection of early photographs of Asian-Canadians and Asian-Americans. Some highlights include historical class photographs from Vancouver's Strathcona School, street scenes from the Vancouver, Victoria, and San Francisco Chinatowns, wedding portraits, and the 1915-1918 photograph album of Jue Fong, then a Chinese-American teenager, which offers rare candid photographs from that time period.

These records in this subseries are varied and include published monographs, pamphlets, directories, catalogues, magazines, maps, government reports, legislation, petitions, memoranda, meeting minutes, speeches, contracts, forms, certificates, licenses, tickets, passenger lists, immigration papers, taxes, invoices and receipts, donation books and fundraising materials, staff rosters, school workbooks, samples of Chinese calligraphy, newspaper clippings, posters and broadsides, newsletters, brochures and advertisements, correspondence, postcards, invitations and event programmes, restaurant menus, artefacts, ephemera, memorabilia, scrapbooks, and photographs, photo albums, and photographic negatives.

Subseries consists of miscellaneous writings by Blais, including an article “About Retiring”, which appeared in both The Canadian Nurse and History of Nursing News, “Energy Healing in the Operating Room Works!” in Balanced Life, interview notes, “Member Bio”, what appears to be an unpublished book review of Forging the Future by Diana J. Mansell, and a handwritten “10 Minute Shaman Journey”.

Subseries consists of correspondence and general files of the Community Health Nurses’ Group. Includes miscellaneous minutes, reports, notices, and financial records.

Subseries consists of Community Health Nurses’ Group newsletters, as well as correspondence and other records relating to the production of the newsletters.

This subseries includes records relating to Kujundzic's artwork production: sketchbooks; art pieces; poetry and notes; working artwork drafts; photographs and slides of his exhibits and artwork; and essays and writings on topics such as pollution and artist life. Also included are some autobiographical writings and materials that Kujundzic collected as sources of inspiration.
