Stamped 19 4784 on the bottom. A box to house a dozen glass plate negatives. The date ‘1939, 十月, 二十九' is written on the box cover. Also transcribed on the box is the following, '洪门某九屆懇[?]會職員相[?]' indicating that the items originally inside the box are portraits of staff working with or in a Freemasons Guild.

Lake Superior, Ontario Canadian Pacific

A serigraph depicting Lake Superior from the hills along the shore, in original frame with plaque reading Lake Superior, Ontario, Canadian Pacific. The original design was likely by Alfred Joseph Casson, part of the Group of Seven. The Canadian Pacific Railway commissioned a series of serigraphs for display which were produced in small runs. These images were designed to showcase the emerging Canadian national aesthetic and promote the opportunities for tourism and travel within the country.
