Scope and content

The Community Brokerage Service Society (CBSS) was created as a part of a pilot project for individualized funding between 1991 and 1996 through an agreement with the provincial government of British Columbia. It was discontinued by the B.C. provincial government and it ended in 1996. The CBSS was resurrected and the name was changed to the Family Voice Society in 2007 with the goal of providing an independent place for families to go where they could get support and education as well as for resources for advocacy and networking.

Series includes records created by the Community Brokerage Service Society. The CBSS changed its name to the Family Voice Society in 2009. The records in this series are predominately from before 2007 when the name change occurred. However there are records related to the name change that can be found within this series.

Records include meeting minutes, project reports, publications produced by the organization, and correspondence.
