History

Ho Sze (Ho Shee) was born in China in 1900 in the district of 新會 Sunwui / Xinhui, in 廣東 Guangdong province.

In China, she married WONG Wee Jew (also spelled as WONG Wai Chew) who was 25 years her senior. He was already living in Canada and worked as a cook for CP Rail.

She joined her husband in Canada, arriving in Vancouver in 1923 as the wife of Wong Wai Jow and paying the $500 head tax.

The couple had only one child: a daughter. The family lived in Vancouver's Chinatown, above the headquarters of the Chinese Times newspaper at the corner of Pender and Carrall Streets, then in the Mandarin Centre on Main Street.

Her life was cut short due to cancer. She died in 1948 at the young age of 47.
