Scope and content

File consists of photographs depicting Hanne and George’s home life. There are images of the couple’s house (interior and exterior), other parts of their property including a workshop, leisure time, their dogs, and various plants and flowers which Hanne photographed. File also includes a short letter from Hanne’s friend June, who sent several photos and negatives taken of Hanne, George, and their dogs in the backyard (PH-3174 to 3175 and PH-3263 to 3274). The other textual material is Hanne's handwritten information she included with a number of her prints and negatives. There are also several envelopes Hanne would have received when getting photos/negatives developed.

Physical condition

Most materials are in good condition. Several negatives exhibit signs of vinegar syndrome such as a sour odor and blue discoloration. At least two negatives have an advanced case of vinegar syndrome and are becoming rippled. One envelope and the negative it contained had to be destroyed due to severe vinegar syndrome, however, the print and the metadata slip therein were salvaged and designated PH-4329.

Immediate source of acquisition

Some of materials in this file (PH-3291 to 3411) were donated by the West Vancouver Public Library.

Arrangement

Two items (PH-2952 and 2964) are part of a set of photographs (PH-2941 to 2997). Items PH-3291 to 3411 retain their original order.
