Surrey Berry Growers' Cooperative

Series consists of records related to the Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative. The Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative is believed to have been Surrey's first berry cooperative and was created sometime in the 1920s. While many of the farmers were Japanese, membership was not restricted by ethnicity. It is unknown when the Surrey Berry Farmers' Cooperative dissolved, but presumably sometime after 1952.

Records in this series include correspondence related to land and property owned by the Cooperative that was confiscated after many of the farmers were interned and their land and property confiscated. Correspondence consists of between Zennosuke Inouye and other members of the Cooperative, between Zennosuke and banks and businesses regarding the Cooperative, and correspondence with a family who helped hide some of the Cooperative's property from the Office of the Custodian.

Other records include alist farmers in the Cooperative that purchased Victory Bonds in 1942, a hand-drawn map and list of all the farmers in the Surrey Berry Growers Cooperative in 1941, and accounts and receipts belonging to the Cooperative.

Military records

Series consists of records related to Zennosuke Inouye's military service in World War I. Records include Canadian Legion membership cards, correspondence from when Zennosuke was stationed in Europe, Zennosuke's Active Service Paybook, and photographs of Zennosuke dressed in his military uniform.

Ephemera

Series consists of ephemera material that belonged to Beverly Inouye which includes newspaper clippings, a program from Beverly's graduation from UBC, promotional materials from Tom Inouye's insurance business, and autograph books that belonged to Beverly Inouye. The autograph books date from 1942-1949 and include signatures and inscriptions from friends and people Beverly met during internment in Kaslo, BC.

Canadian Forestry Service documents

Series consists of correspondence, memos, agreements, performance evaluations, and other documents related to Reed's role at Environment Canada as an Assistant Deputy Minister with the Canadian Forest(ry) Service, and the establishment of the federal Department of Forestry. Also included are (mostly photocopied) research materials, reports, and Reed's own written account of his involvement with the CFS.

Mina Hubbard series

Materials relating to Grace’s research on explorer Mina Benson Hubbard and her journey into Labrador. Includes annotated research materials, correspondence, notes, lecture materials, and publishing permissions.

Plagiarism Legal Case series

David Breen found that his unpublished dissertation “Canadian Ranching Frontier 1875-1926” had been cribbed into a published work by Edwin Gould and Hancock House Publishers under the title “Ranching.” This series contains the records related to the decade-long legal battle, including court documentation and background discussions, which established several significant legal precedents, including what constitutes “substantial” copying, whether these have copyright value, and whether the copyright resides with the author or the university.

Archives Policy and ACA Survey series

The series consists of records documenting Laurenda Daniells’ role as the University Archivist, particularly her work on the University Archives policies. Materials include manuals, drafts, notes, memorandums, reports, and surveys.

Personal Materials series

The series consists of records documenting Laurenda Daniells’ personal life, mainly through correspondence with her family and friends. The series also includes published materials by her husband, Roy Daniells.

Correspondence series

Series consists of English and German correspondence with Luft’s friends, students, and other mathematicians.

Other Mathematicians Works and Notes series

Series consists of proofs and notes derived from lectures and papers by other mathematicians. Luft’s students may have created some papers or notes. The furthest extent of the date range assigned to this series is based on the age of the articles referenced; copies of articles and the notes may be much younger than assumed.

Photographs series

Included are early photographs of the UBC Hall of Fame Induction, UBC Thunderbirds Ice Hockey trip to China, 1973, photos of the UBC Based Canadian Olympic Hockey Team, 1964 and miscellaneous photographs of Bob Hindmarch, including a photograph with Anatoli Tarasov and Bobby Gaul Trophy Memorial Winners, Simon Hoogewerf and Paul Thiessen amongst others.

Research Materials series

The folder contains newspaper clippings and research materials, including an all-time varsity football roster researched by Fred Hume and a UBC Hall of fame program, 1994. Also in this series is a VHS by the National Film Board of the Thunderbirds in China, 1974. Hindmarch was inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. There is a DVD-R of this event and the plaque he was presented on that occasion.

Working Papers, Reports and Charts series

This series contains working papers, reports, charts, and lessons learned that were created on different subjects related to the creation of ALGOL 68. The series is arranged by report type or subject and organized chronologically.

Miscellaneous series

Series consists of materials relating to various subjects, one of which is “Structural Change,” part of the basis of Fulton’s later work.

Safety series

Series consists of minutes and safety materials for various committees associated with divisions that work on infrastructure installations, upgrades, renovations, and installations. It also includes materials related to the piloting of a workplace safety program.

Feature film series

Series includes manuscripts, reports, correspondence, notes, film concepts, research materials, photographs, and video recordings associated with Hunter’s film career.

Personal/Ephemera series

Series consists of invitations to events, typographical pamphlets, and examples of materials such as samples of bookplates, identification cards, and membership cards to the Friends of UBC Library.

Workshops and Conferences series

The series consists of transcripts generated by the AACR Workshop held at UBC in April 1967. Tape recordings of the workshop proceedings were made, and the transcripts were used for a publication entitled New Rules for an Old Game (1967). Series also consists of records related to the ABCL 1968 Conference and the Centennial Citizen's Conference on Libraries in 1971.

General History series

Series consists of reports and publications of high importance to SCARP published by local and international agencies. Some items were created by SCARP staff on their own time in conjunction with other individuals and agencies.

Sharon Pollock series

Material related to the research and writing of Grace’s biography on playwright and actor Sharon Pollock. Includes correspondence, research notes, interviews, photographs, bibliographic note cards, digital records and ephemera.

Publications, Manuals, and Reports

Series consists of publications, manuals and reports issued by the BCORNG.
Publications include written histories (’79, ’81, ’86, and ’96), as well as News and Views newsletters. Reports mainly concern competency levels of OR nurses, and operating room standards.

Training materials for the RCAMC sisters

Series consists of notes on teaching techniques, the science of education, and hospital administration; lesson plans, obstetrical manual from St. Michael's Hospital, pamphlets, and a syllabus used for training RCAMC nursing sisters who would be teaching during the 1950s.

Writings by Bernadet Ratsoy

Ratsoy published numerous articles on issues that confronted the nurses' associations with which she was involved. Frequent articles in the RNABC news while she was President of this association had such titles as "Community Nursing" and "Senior Nurse Managers: A Force to be Reckoned with."

Series consists of newspaper clippings, articles and other textual material featuring articles related to Alice Wright, including articles regarding her work with the Registered Nurses’ Association of BC and the International Council of Nurses, her collection of Infant Feeding Devices, and the celebration of her 100th birthday in 1994.

Series includes records relating to Campbell Jackson's education, including high school, the University of British Columbia, the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Michigan, as well as her completion of various medical and other educational courses.
