Jungerman v. Rudolph

File consists of 2 documents: Exhibit "A" (Indenture); Receipt from the Mutual Life Insurance Company (Exhibit "B"). The Plaintiff and the Defendant had been carrying on business under the firm of "Jungerman and Rudolph", watchmakers. Jungerman was in debt to various parties and had agreed that the co-partnership was to be dissolved and to be carried on by Rudolph.

In the Matter of R. Tomlinson

File consists of 3 documents: Order; Summons to the Defendant upon an Information or Complaint: Affidavit of R. Tomlinson. R. Tomlinson is housing a girl named Antangas against the will and consent of the girl's mother and guardian. Tomlinson is a missionary in charge of the Mission House belonging to the Church Missionary Society.

Forbes v. Isaac alias Moore

The Defendant states that he never lived in the county of Essex, Ontario, and that he never went by the name of James Moore or any other name than William Isaac. Clay v. Marston and Marston

File consists of 1 document: Exhibit "A" - Night Message Direct Wire (Telegram). Defendants were travelling as passengers on the steamer "Umatilla". The wire explains that a writ has been issued by the Plaintiff against the Defendants and they are to be attended to at the arrival of the steamer and serviced with this telegram.

Seeley v. Morse

Plaintiff was owed $61.50 as receiver of rents on cabins on Humboldt Street in Victoria and in regards to the settlement of the estate of W.C. S. Seeley, the Plaintiff's father.

Bankruptcy cases

The 1858 Gold Rush on the Fraser River in British Columbia brought an influx of miners to the area, resulting in an economic boom for the colonies.
Following the end of the gold rush, however, came a time of financial strain in the 1860s and many individuals suffered personal financial loss. In 1862, a bankruptcy court was established as a formal structure to resolve insolvencies. Series includes documents related to the colonial bankruptcy court including adjudications, affidavits, declaration, deeds, notices, petitions, proofs of debt, receipts, report, statements of account, summons, and wills.

Regarding William Bolton

Bolton was a ship builder unable to meet his engagements with his creditors as a result of losses; he was adjudged as a bankrupt by the court. Includes affidavit, adjudication, balance sheet, declaration of insolvency, petition, and proofs of debt of T. Mazoni and A.Bolaro.

Regarding Abraham Blackman

Blackman was indebted to J.R. Stewart as well as to other parties. Includes adjudication, affidavit and petition of Stewart, statement of accounts with creditors, receipt of money paid out of court, petitioning creditors’ bills of costs to choice of assignees, statement of accounts for the estate of Blackman, statement of Blackman’s estate, and bill of costs.

Regarding Thomas Hester Farrell

Farrell was indebted to the Hudson’s Bay Company, the firm of Reinhart Brothers in Victoria, and B. Derham, and others. Farrell is adjudicated as bankrupt. Includes affidavits of Derham, J. Hardisty, Reinhart, and Farrell (with statement of accounts); affidavit of bankrupt; adjudication; appointment of official assignees; statement of accounts; and petition of J.
