The Defendant falsely and maliciously and without reasonable cause charged the Plaintiff with stealing a saw from him, value of $1.50. The Defendant also assaulted the Plaintiff, gave him into custody of a policeman and caused him to be imprisoned in a police office. The Plaintiff was injured in his reputation and was prevented from attending to his business as a result of the Defendant's actions and has also incurred expenses in obtaining his release from the said imprisonment. The Plaintiff claims $5,000 damages from the Defendant.

Royal Commission, Gov. Frederick Seymour to Judge Matthew Begbie
Document signed in Mary 1869 by Seymour under the seal of the Colony of British Columbia and by Philip Hankin, Secretary one month before Seymour’s death of the HMS Sparrowhawk.

Amide, deceased. During the lifetime of the deceased, the Defendant wrongfully deprived Amide of the use and possession of "two horses; two bridles; two saddles; two whips and four girths." Defendant is also owing monies to the estate for goods sold and delivered and unpaid accounts.

Debts were renegotiated, the Plaintiff fell ill, and the Defendants then refused to return or reassign the life insurance policy back to the Plaintiff.
