Reports.

Series contains reports relating to the British Columbia Loggers Association. Material consists of reports outlining the Association’s core activities, monthly log scaling reports, and weekly log sales reports, a list of lumber grading rules, average log prices, timber sales, unsold logs reports, lumber price lists, promotion division reports, shareholder reports, and a map of the Nimpkish Forest.

Red Cedar et douceur de vie

This promotional film describes historic and modern uses of Western Red Cedar, including uses by First Nations, early settlers, and architectural design in the 1970s. It follows the process of harvesting Western Red Cedar, from the cutting of timber to the lumber mill where shingle and shake are shown in production. Music is performed by The Collectors, and the film is edited by Ingrid Rossen.

Sub-series contains records relating to the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association’s Safety Committee. Material consists of meeting minutes that outline the relevant safety conferences, reports, correspondence, and the discussion of projects relating to safety in the industry.

Publicity.

Series contains of publicity records relating to British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of practice notes on forest conservation, a statement prepared by the Forest Service for the British Empire Forestry Conference in South Africa, an pictorial publication indicating the use of British Columbia timber in the British Empire with an indication of printing prices per sheets, and information notes on the renaissance of England’s wood, and correspondence between the BCLMA and forestry related institutions around the world request promotional material.

Projects.

Series contains special projects conducted by the Consolidated Red Cedar Shingle Association of British Columbia. Material contains photographs of the re-shingling of the Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent’s home on Sussex drive in Ottawa and includes correspondence on the progress of the project and background information. Also included are correspondence, letters, reports relating to the use and the promotion of the Colt shingles by W.H. Colt Limited, correspondence with the Handsplit Mill Museum, information concerning the Los Angeles fires and their relationship to shingles, correspondence and inquiries into the re-roofing of St. Peter’s Church in England with B.C. shingles.

Projects.

Series contains of records related to different projects undertaken by the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of correspondence requesting films about the forestry and lumber industry, a discussion of caption for a forestry related film, an extract from an article on Fire Proofing Wood, correspondence requesting information on the preservative treatment of timber, and a request for a speaker to present his knowledge of wood chemistry.

Project files.

Series consists of project files related including material related to shingle and shake promotion project the Brügman BAU Exhibition in Germany. Records include correspondence, pamphlets, and brochures on shingles and shakes in Germany.
Photographs are of the Brügman exhibition stand at fair BAU in Munich. The exhibition stand is roughly 400 square meters. The fairs dominant feature was its Shingle and Shakes. Another photograph is of Mr. Ravens –British Columbia’s housing minister –standing before a totem pole.
