Academic Visits and Visiting Professorships series

Series consists of information regarding visits that Copp made to various national and international academic institutions worldwide. In particular, records relate to these visits to medical schools, medical centres or hospitals. Series also includes documents detailing visiting professor positions that Copp held. Files are arranged chronologically.

Audio Cassette and Videotape series

Series consists of videotape and audiotape recordings. The audio cassettes primarily record conferences and other medical/physiological lectures. The videotapes are of Copp’s induction into the Order of Canada and a talk about his life in 1997.

Calcitonin series

Series consists of information regarding Copp's discovery of Calcitonin, including the history of the hormone's discovery and its uses, information about pharmaceutical production of the hormone, scholarly articles, literature updates, and correspondence. Files are arranged broadly by topic and then chronologically.

Colleagues and Personnel series

Series consists of records relating to people who worked for and with Copp in the Department of Physiology at the University of British Columbia and colleagues from across Canada and the world. Types of materials include correspondence, lecture and presentation notes, article outlines and drafts, work and research plans, and resumes. Files are arranged alphabetically by the last name.

Conferences, Symposia and Workshops series

Series consists of information regarding Copp's extensive attendance of professional conferences, symposia and workshops and includes correspondence, travel arrangements, conference programs and proceedings, invitations and event tickets, drafts and final papers presented, notes and other materials. Files are arranged in chronological order.

Correspondence series

Series consists of general professional correspondence and correspondence between Copp and specific colleagues and other individuals. General correspondence is arranged alphabetically, while correspondence relating to particular people is arranged alphabetically by the last name.

Curriculum Vitae and Professional Biography series

Series consists of biographical information about Copp's career, including bibliographies, chronologies of professional events, entries in various biographical publications and versions of his curriculum vitae. Files are arranged broadly by topic and then chronologically.

Financial Records series

Series consists primarily of travel claims, although other records include library fines and other financial statements. Files are arranged by topic and then chronologically.

Honours and Awards series

Series consists of records relating to the honours and awards Copp received throughout his professional career and includes certificates, diplomas, degrees, letters of commendation and plaques. Files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the award. Several items are oversize and stored in a flat oversize box.

Lectures series

Series consists of records relating to various lectures that Copp presented, including classroom lectures at the University of British Columbia, lectures at other North American universities, lectures to colleagues, and information about the Annual Copp Lecture presented in his honour at UBC.

Media series

Series consists of records relating to appearances Copp made in various forms of media, in addition to media items about Calcitonin, calcium and osteoporosis. These include newspaper articles, broadcast media and film, and a biographical chapter for a book written by David Suzuki about Canadian scientists. Files are arranged chronologically.

Osteoporosis series

Series consists of information regarding Copp's work with osteoporosis and his involvement with numerous societies and associations related to that disease. Materials include correspondence, newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, announcements, handbooks, manuals, slides and scholarly articles. Files are arranged broadly by topic and then chronologically.

Personal series

The series consists of records relating to Copp's personal life and includes correspondence, financial records, postcards, cards, anniversary arrangements, calendars, and other materials. Files are arranged chronologically.

Photograph series

Series consists primarily of photographs of Harold Copp, taken at conferences and speaking engagements, in laboratories and at UBC. Candid, posed and professional shots are included. Series also consists of photographs of colleagues of Copp and buildings at UBC. Photos are arranged broadly by topic.

Publications series

The series consists of printed materials, scholarly articles authored or co-authored by Copp and his colleagues, and other articles related to his research interests. Also included is correspondence regarding publishing some of these articles and correspondence between Copp and several professional journals. UBC Department of Physiology series

Series consists of records relating mainly to Copp's time as head of the Department of Physiology at UBC and includes histories of the department, research into other departments of physiology, minutes and meeting information from the UBC Faculty Association and other committees, information about UBC computer systems, and academic reports. Files are arranged broadly by topic and then chronologically.
