Regarding Michael Cary

Cory was indebted to P. Fiterre and G. Webster for unpaid accounts with them. Includes proof of debt of Fiterre and Webster, messenger’s bill of costs, election of trade assignee, and summons.

Duncan v. Selleck and Rothwell

File contains: Appearance and Defense; Original Writ. Plaintiff claims that the Defendants are indebted to him for 70 pounds, 12 shillings and 6 pence as the balance due on some lumber sold and delivered to them at their request.

Woodcock v. Pickett and Pickett

File contains: Bill of Complaint; Affidavit of Plaintiff; Writ of Summons; Affidavit of G.H. Cary; Appearance of R. Pickett; Petition; (2) Order; Notice; Demurrer; Affidavit of G.E. Dennes; and (2) Order. The Plaintiff ordered through the Defendants acting as his agents, certain goods, cigars and liquors, which the Defendants agreed to procure for him. The Plaintiff paid them $7000 U.S. to be applied to the payment of the goods. The goods were delivered to the Defendants' store in Victoria but they wrongfully refused to deliver the balance of the said goods to the Plaintiff and they threatened to sell, dispose of and part with the same.

Wilcox v. Pemberton et al

File contains: Affidavit of G. Balls. Regarding the road from Esquimalt to Victoria, erected by the government for use by the public. The stoppage of the road by obstructing the bridge with a bar across the same thereby impending the traffic along the bridge has caused much injury to the property holders on Wharf Street.

Dupuis v. Staples et al

File contains: Affidavit of E. Dupuis. Captain Staples and others, owners of the steamship Pacific, are justly and truly indebted to the Plaintiff for 53 pounds, 8 shillings, for the value of certain articles delivered to the Defendants as common carriers to be delivered to him in Victoria. They have not been delivered and the Plaintiff believes that the Defendants are about to leave for San Francisco and he asks that they be apprehended.

Grelley v. Kraft et al

Kraft; Judges Minutes; Statement of Facts; Affidavit of Defendant Kraft; and Bill of Complaint. The Defendants leased the Colonial Hotel in Victoria from the Plaintiffs for one year. Disagreements arose between the parties and the Plaintiff asks that Kraft stops any further construction or renovation on the Hotel while the case between them is resolved with the Defendants paying the Plaintiff for damages suffered.

Roeff v. Cook

File contains: Affidavit of Roeff; Order. The Defendant is justly and truly indebted to the Plaintiff for 92 pounds, 16 shillings being the balance of an account due by the Defendant to the Plaintiff for goods sold and delivered and for money lent.

McGee v. Hall

Hall; Writ; Deposition of R. Hall; Answer; Notice of Motion; Affidavit of R. Bishop; Facts of the Suit; and Statement of Accounts. The object of the suit was to obtain from the Defendant, who was the agent of the Plaintiff, an account of all monies received and paid by him on certain parcels of property in Victoria on behalf of the Plaintiff's wife. There was a problem with regards to the improper representation of the Defendant by R. Bishop and also improper imprisonment of the Defendant.
