[Management and Administrative Records]

Series consists of minutes and agendas, fundraising records, legal documents, committee information, and general correspondence related to the managerial and administrative duties of Pro-CAN. Legal documents include those dealing with lawsuits, injunctions, and Freedom of Information requests. General correspondence is limited to letters and emails to and from the organization as well as letters of support. For hate mail, see series titled "Safety and Security."

[Minutes and Agendas]

Subseries includes minutes, agendas, meeting notes, internal election information, and voting and attendance records for Pro-CAN's Steering Committee and General Membership meetings from 1987 to 2005.

[Funding]

Subseries consists of proposals, notes, and correspondence with potential donors discussing upcoming projects and positions within Pro-CAN that will require funding.

[Committees]

Subseries consists of official rules, bylaws, action plans, vision/mandate, membership lists, and recommendations of Pro-CAN's various committees. The forms and paperwork required for incorporation–as well as the resulting certificate of incorporation–are also included.

[Advocacy and Lobbying]

Series consists of event coordination and publicity records, artifacts, correspondence, and Pro-CAN’s various publications, including editions of its quarterly newsletter, The Pro-Choice Press. Artifacts include a fabric banner and promotional pro-choice mail. Correspondence relates mostly to government lobbying on behalf of abortion rights and providers across the province.

[Publications]

Subseries consists of: black and white versions of original Pro-CAN newsletters as well as official colored versions; BCCAC newsletters; press releases; pamphlets; notes and reference materials used for drafting speeches; and membership forms.

[Safety and Security]

Series consists of textual records, photographs, artifacts, and correspondence related to the monitoring of problematic anti-choice groups and individuals as well as Pro-CAN’s development of safety initiatives. During its operation, Pro-CAN maintained files on possible threats as well as common anti-choice behaviors and tactics. Many of the behavioral files focus on anti-choice violence in Canada and abroad.

Anti-Choice Individuals

Subseries consists of newspaper clippings, articles, notes, photographs, and correspondence related to anti-choice individuals Pro-CAN was monitoring. Correspondence occurs between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters that were sharing information on possible threats and actions from the included anti-choice individuals as well as occasionally between Pro-Can and the actual individual. Photographs contain images of the named anti-choice protestors, usually picketing outside of abortion clinics. Some of the images contain graphic signage. Those photos included in the "Fanatic File" include handwritten notes on the back provided by the members of Pro-CAN.
