1969-1978 series

The series consists of records about budgeting, committees, minutes of meetings, policies, major projects, and the Computing Centre's relationship with IBM. Subseries are Correspondence, Financial, Internal Affairs, University Affairs, Committees, Academic Bodies, and Standing Committees. The Academic Bodies Subseries is comprised only of records of the Computer Science Department. This series was previously arranged into the existing subseries by the Computing Centre as part of its filing system.

1973-1996 Chronological series

The series consists of reports, budgets, minutes of committee meetings, technical information and other administrative and operational records of the computing centre. These records were made or received by Jack L. Leigh, who became the Director of the Computing Centre in 1987. This series of records appears to be a continuation of the previous series. The arrangement of this series is chronological.

1979-1989 Alphabetical series

The series consists of reports, budgets, minutes of committee meetings, technical information, and other administrative and operational records of the computing centre. These records were made or received by Jack L. Leigh, who became the Director of the Computing Centre in 1987. The arrangement of this series is roughly alphabetical and based on two partial file lists found within the records.

Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) Sous-fonds

The sous-fonds consists of constitutional amendments, board meetings, executive meeting files and correspondence made or received by CIPS, and some miscellaneous records created before the name changes. However, the majority of records originated from the time that James M. Kennedy was the president of CIPS.

Early Computing Centre series

The series consists of records that document the origins and establishment of the UBC Computing Centre. However, most of the records document the historical evolution of the administration and the operation of the Centre between the time of its opening and 1970. In addition, it includes information from the Automation Committee and material on installing the Centre's first computer, the ALWAC III-E. The arrangement is based on the reconstruction of a file guide found among the records.

Jim Tom’s Office Chronological series

The series consists of reports, budgets, minutes of committee meetings, technical information, and other administrative and operational records of the computing centre. These records were made, received, and used by Jim Tom, who was the Director of Telecommunications (1992 to 1999), Networks (1999 to 2004), and e-Learning & Telestudios (2004).

Manuals and Technical Information series

The series consists of manuals and other technical information that has been important for reference and use in the Computing Centre. This includes a manual for the IBM 7040/7044, CAI PLANIT, PLANIT Language Reference Manual, IBM 1620 information, MTS Accounting, and information about the 360/67, WATFOR and WATFIV software systems.

Miscellaneous series

The series consists mainly of miscellaneous reports, projects, minutes, course support documents and manuals used or produced by the UBC Computing Centre. It includes subject files collected or retained by Jack Leigh. The arrangement of this series follows the subject arrangement created or implemented by Jack Leigh of the UBC Computing Centre.

Photograph series

The series consists of various photographs of the Computing Centre and related individuals. Most photographs are situated in the Computing Centre; however, some depict individuals outdoors. In addition to individuals and the Centre itself, some photographs are of computers, printers, processors, and other equipment. These photographs appear to have been used in a display because several have been cropped.

Pre-1969 Series

The series consists of various records that were created before 1969. It includes Computing Centre Committee Meeting Minutes, a Computing Centre Report, Budget Records, and a Progress Report.

UBC Computing Centre Documentation series

The series consists of documents produced by the UBC Computing Centre. More specifically, the series includes several guides produced by the UBC Computing Centre from 1972-1990, which offer both a keyword index and a bibliography of the documents produced by the UBC Computing Centre. The series also includes several technical notes that amended the documentation produced by the UBC Computing Centre.

Arrangement of this series begins with UBC Computing Centre Documentation Guides and is subsequently alphabetically arranged. The arrangement was reconstructed by the filing system established by the UBC Computing Centre.

UBC Computing Centre Newsletter series

The series consists of newsletters created by the Computing Centre that provide essential information and significant issues relevant to the Computing Centre and its users at the time of publication. This series is not representative of all years between 1968 and 1992.
