Hand drawn bookmark

Item is a hand drawn bookmark that opens up like a pamphlet and has written on the inside: "Words are the demi-Gods and heroes of thought." The phrase is accompanied by a drawing of satyr-like creature's head.

[High Branch Society welcome card]

Card from the High Branch Society decorated with the image of a crow wearing spectacles. Inside is artwork featuring owls and mice, and the text "Special Collections Library U.B.C. - Esteemed Patron". The artwork printed on the envelope depicts two trees, speaking to each other through tin cans joined by a string.

Impressions of Vancouver: signed poster

Poster for an exhibition at the University of Alberta's Special Collections Library, entitled "Impressions of Vancouver: Disciples of the Book Arts." Poster features a drawing by Charles and is signed by him.

Life is Art: signed poster and broadside

File consists of material from a 1997 exhibition of Charles' work at the Seymour Art Gallery. Materials include a poster for the exhibition and a broadside printing of Life is Art. The broadside has three watercolour prints attached to it.

Press proof, signed

Signed press proof for Charles' book, Wind in the Willows. A tag that accompanied this proof has note from Charles saying: "variant proof (black ink) for the trade edition of Willows, 2005. Sent to me as a colour sample, but we chose brown instead. One of a kind, signed."

Quality Time: program and signed poster

File consists of a program and a signed poster from a 2011 show at the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre which Charles was a part of, entitled Quality Time. The description of the show on the poster reads: "First Impressions Theatre presents Quality Time, an evening of songs, stories & slides, featuring Charles van Sandwyk and the Brandywine Boys." Charles and the Brandywine Boys also recorded a cd, which is available at Rare Books and Special Collections (M1629 .Q32 2010 cd ).

File consists of print-outs of online reviews of van Sandwyk's 2018 book How to See Fairies and Other Tales. One review is from The British Fantasy Society, the other is from a blog called greydogtales. File also includes a Christmas card produced by the Folio Society featuring an illustration from How to See Fairies and Other Tales.

Sea to Sky - All British Rally medallion

Medallion recognizing participation in the Sea to Sky All British Rally (2014). Medallion design by Charles van Sandwyk. The event is an annual "British car run" (a scenic drive for car aficionados) from North Vancouver to Whistler.
