Ancient Free and Accepted Masons

Series consists of records related to Manson's involvement with the Freemasons. Manson remained an active member of the Freemasons throughout his life and the records in this series date from not long after he joined the Freemasons until the end of his life in 1964.

These records include correspondence with fellow Freemasons and Masonic Lodges, Masonic publications, a history, bylaws, certificates, and photographs.

Finances

Series consists of records related to financial matters that Manson managed. These records were produced over the whole of Manson's life, the earliest dating from while he was attending university.

This series has been arranged into two subseries: the personal finances of Manson and his family, and Manson's investments and trusts.

General Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence. Much of the correspondence in this series was either kept loose or was sorted by Manson alphabetically (using the surname of the correspondent or the subject of correspondence) and by year.

Files in this series often contain correspondence related to multiple areas of Manson's life, both career-related and personal. For example, a file labelled "Loose Correspondence" may contain correspondence related to Manson's political activities, his Masonic activities, his church activities, and social activities.

Judicial Career

Series consists of records related to Manson's career as a judge serving on the British Columbia Supreme Court.

These records include court proceedings, judgements, appeals, legal statutes, travel documents, financial accounts, meeting minutes, papers from judges' conferences, assize rosters, and correspondence. This correspondence includes correspondence regarding court cases as well as correspondence with individuals he had convicted and with other judges.

Legal Career

Series consists of records related to Manson’s participation in the legal field and his legal career both in Prince Rupert and in Vancouver. These records date from the period during which Manson worked as a lawyer as well as during his later judicial career and after his retirement.

This series has been arranged into three subseries: Manson's involvement with law societies and bar associations, Manson's law firm, and advocacy on behalf of others.

Personal Life

Series consists of records related to Manson's personal life.

This series has been arranged into seven subseries: Manson's education, his involvement with the Presbyterian Church, his social life, agendas and planners, notes regarding speeches he gave, his estate, and his family.

Photographs, Scrapbooks & Ephemera

Series consists of loose photographs, scrapbooks compiled by Manson, newspaper clippings, and copies of newspapers and newsletters. The scrapbooks in this series contain newspaper clippings, which predominantly relate to his political career.

Political Career

Series consists of records produced over the course of Manson's political career and his time as an MLA in the British Columbia government.

This series has been arranged into four subseries: the Liberals, electoral campaigns that Manson participated in, Manson's work in government, and Manson's correspondence with other MLAs and MPs.
