Volcano research series

Series consists of materials especially related to volcanic research, which have been filed based on specific topics such as neogene basalts, ironmask basolith, and andesitic volcanism. Otherwise, this series includes maps and drawings, related correspondence, hand-written notes, reference material, published and unpublished works, and one newspaper clipping.

Biographical/Personal Information series

Series consists of photocopies of awards, invitations, versions of Beesley's CV, and a paper written during his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia. Series also consists of information on Beesley's Order of Canada, numerous correspondence congratulating him on his achievements, and information regarding Beesley's burial at sea in 2009.

Articles, Statements, and Speeches series

Series consists of various articles, statements and speeches Beesley made throughout his career. Series is arranged chronologically. The CD-R optical discs contain jpeg images of the textual material. Speeches relate to political issues and debates surrounding the Law of the Sea Conference. The jpeg images are arranged into folders by subject and were scanned at a low resolution (l00 dpi).

Correspondence series

Series consists of correspondence to Lyle Creelman from various people and institutions and copies of letters from Lyle Creelman to multiple people, including friends and family. Some correspondence is personal, and some are regarding her services at W.H.O and UNRRA. There is also an envelope of postcards to her mother in the series.

Ephemera series

Ephemera series (4-6 to 4-17) consists of 78 miscellaneous photographs of unknown people, subjects, or origin; articles collected by Lyle Creelman; community groups ephemera; and travel souvenirs.

Grant applications sub-series.

Subseries consists of various grant application materials made out to the Medical Research Centre (MRC), the BC Health Care Research Foundation (BCHCRF), the Canadian Heart Foundation, and other institutions requesting funds to conduct scientific research. The materials include applications, funding and financial information, correspondence, research proposals and reports.

Audio Cassette and Videotape series

Series consists of videotape and audiotape recordings. The audio cassettes primarily record conferences and other medical/physiological lectures. The videotapes are of Copp’s induction into the Order of Canada and a talk about his life in 1997.

Colleagues and Personnel series

Series consists of records relating to people who worked for and with Copp in the Department of Physiology at the University of British Columbia and colleagues from across Canada and the world. Types of materials include correspondence, lecture and presentation notes, article outlines and drafts, work and research plans, and resumes. Files are arranged alphabetically by the last name.

Financial Records series

Series consists primarily of travel claims, although other records include library fines and other financial statements. Files are arranged by topic and then chronologically.

Honours and Awards series

Series consists of records relating to the honours and awards Copp received throughout his professional career and includes certificates, diplomas, degrees, letters of commendation and plaques. Files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the award. Several items are oversize and stored in a flat oversize box.

Recommendations and References series

Series consists of correspondence to and from Copp regarding references and recommendations he made for colleagues and students. This includes academic and professional references and recommendations for awards such as the Nobel Prize. Files are primarily arranged alphabetically.

Canadian National Railways series

Series consists of materials collected while Fournier was writing his book Railway Nationalization in Canada: The Problem of the Canadian National Railways and includes correspondence, drafts of chapters, book reviews, book orders, receipts, invoices, statements of sale and a carbon copy version of the book itself. Also included is a 5-part series of newspaper articles entitled The Railways Problem in Canada.

UBC President's Speeches series

The series consists of transcripts of speeches delivered by former UBC President Dr. Martha C. Piper at various functions associated with the Development Office. Files are arranged in chronological order.

Audiovisual series

Series consists of video and audio recordings of announcements regarding endowments and donations to UBC. Recording times refer to the actual recordings, not the length of the tape. Audiovisual material is located in the Archives vault. Please ask archives staff regarding access.

The fonds consists of lectures, papers, proposals, reports, correspondence, clippings, published materials, photographs and one audiotape relating to Rice's research and publishing activities, her work with various professional associations, and advocacy for the professional regulation of midwifery in B.C. The fonds also contains correspondence, reports, memoranda, minutes and other administrative records from Rice's involvement with the Nurse-Midwifery Service at Grace Hospital.
The fonds is arranged into the following series: Education (1980-1, 1993); Published Writing, Proposals, Lectures and Research Materials (1977-2002); Nurse-Midwifery Service (1983-1991); Professional Associations (1976-1992); Professional Regulation of Midwifery (1978-1999, predominant 1987-1997); UBC Midwifery Degree Program (2000-2001) and Audio (1997).
