Personal series

Series consists of records documenting Laycock's personal life and interests and includes manuscripts, diaries, correspondence, and published materials. The materials are arranged in the following sub-series: Diaries, Travel Notebooks, and General.

Photographs series

Series consists of photographs of China, scenery and mining in B.C., and miscellaneous portraits.

Selected photographs have been digitized and included in UBC Archives’ Historical Photograph Database UBC 22.1.

Gibson Reprints series

Series includes reprints of articles from medical journals, alphabetized by the author's last name, published in English, French, Russian, German, and Spanish.

Registrar’s General Files series

The series consists of records of the general files of the registrar. It includes the registrar’s files on various topics relevant to their role. Folders contain correspondence, memoranda, reference material, handwritten notes, notices, forms, policies, templates and the like. The original order of this series has been maintained. The series is arranged alphabetically by topic and then by year.

General Files series

Series consists of various materials relating to the University Endowment Lands collected over the years by the UBC Archives; documents donated to the Archives by Iva Mann, a long-time UEL resident and outspoken advocate for the designation of the area as parkland; and Nora Coates, a resident of Kerrisdale and a member of Iva Mann’s “Save the UEL” committee. Materials include notes, printed material, reports, correspondence and clippings.

Reference Books series

Series consists of publications produced by Macdonald College and the National Conference on Agricultural Services. The series includes two copies of the Old McGill.

Correspondence series

Series consists chiefly of incoming correspondence with a few carbon copies, or manuscript copies interspersed outgoing correspondence. The material is arranged in chronological order by year. Daniells' life integrated personal, scholarly and academic work, and the post reflects this. First names or nicknames have been used if the writer is unidentified. For ease of use, most of the letters from Daniells' parents have been separated from the rest of the correspondence but kept within the yearly chronology. The Coates-Cassidy correspondence, which was original with this series, has been removed because of the fragility of the materials and grouped with other Coates-Cassidy materials. For privacy reasons, some correspondence has been restricted for a short time period. There are also letters in other series, including speech, broadcast, subject, student records, research, and miscellaneous series.

Correspondence series

Series consists of a 1908 form letter from the Dairy Students' Union in Hants that has autographs on the reverse, a 1912 letter from the Emigration Branch of the Interior Department of the Government of Canada, a short correspondence in 1922 with Florence Luddington in England about Double Cottenham Cheese, and a 22-page report written in 1930 to the manager of the Powell River Company regarding "The Discoloration of Wood Pulp." Series also includes several undated miscellaneous letters, including a letter from a London art valuer company called Law, Foulsham & Cole, that lists china for sale. The letter is accompanied by five black and white photo prints of the numbered items.

Publications series

The series consists of printed materials, scholarly articles authored or co-authored by Copp and his colleagues, and other articles related to his research interests. Also included is correspondence regarding publishing some of these articles and correspondence between Copp and several professional journals. Files are arranged broadly by topic and then chronologically.

Biographical Material series

The series consists of clippings about MacKenzie, appointment books, honorary degrees and awards, memories and memorabilia.
Box 243 includes a few photographs, clippings, and some posthumous material. Primarily this relates to MacKenzie’s memorial and estate.

Research & Academic Work series

Series consists of materials produced through Belshaw's research, divided into sub-series according to three main areas of study: Pacific Islands, military, and British Columbia. Records include original research journals, draft manuscripts, reference materials, annotated publications, clippings, photographs and correspondence.

Published Works series

Series consists of published works written by William Rose and includes published letters, clippings, and typescript and offprint copies of articles.

Notebooks series

Series consists of notebooks, two of which are full of German-language newspaper clippings relating to World War I; the rest include notes written by Rose on academic subjects.

Personal Papers series

Series consists of some of Moe's records, including a copy of his thesis, CV and professional certificates, poems, reports, and newspaper clippings.

Family History series

Series consists of records collected and written by Priscilla Galloway and other family members regarding the history of the Peebles family. It includes a binder put together by Priscilla Galloway that has printouts from a family history database detailing family history as well as original correspondence, newspaper clippings and other records created by various members of the Peebles family. The series also includes photocopies of photographs, newspaper clippings, histories of various family members, and articles about Peter Peebles’ work.

Manuscripts / Research Notes series

Series consists of manuscripts, research materials and correspondence relating to M.Y. William's publications and reports.

Items in file 13-3a "Birds of Hong Kong" were transferred to the University Archives by David Mattison of the British Columbia Archives.

Anglican Theological College series

The series consists of correspondence, reports, minutes, and published materials. The records document Alden Barss' involvement with the Anglican Theological College of B.C.

Subject Files series

Series consists of printed and published material, photocopied documents and notes arranged by subject and filed alphabetically.

Subject files series

Series consists of subject files of notes, correspondence, papers, reports, clippings, publications, photographs, blueprints, and other material relating to areas of Clemens' research and his involvement in various projects and organizations. Includes material relating to his involvement with the Conservation Association of Canada, and his work at the University of British Columbia and as a Consultant to Staff for the International Pacific Salmon Commission.

Memorabilia series

Series consists of invitations, cards, and other materials kept for sentimental value. However, most of the current and intimate family memorabilia have been retained by Daniells' wife and children.

St. Helen's - Historical series

The series consists of correspondence, reports, minutes, financial records, and published materials. The records document Barss' involvement with St. Helen's Anglican Church in Vancouver and his involvement with the Anglican Church.

Registration Cards series

The series consists of student registration cards with names and personal information. The cards indicate the faculty of the student, their year, and the courses requested in each session.

Fairbridge Farm School series

Series consists of correspondence, diaries, minutes, proceedings, addresses, brochures, periodicals, clippings, pamphlets, financial materials, notes, manuscripts, and reports about Fairbridge Farm School. The series contains three subseries: Correspondence, Printed Material, and Study subseries.

Miscellaneous series

Series consists of correspondence, examination papers, newspaper clippings, photographs, and printed material about Thomson's personal life and research. In addition, the series includes Thomson's memorial order of service (1969).

Miscellaneous Subjects series

Series consists of correspondence, minutes, printed material, programs, reports, publications, and lecture and course notes about the Geological Society of America, the Royal Society of Canada, Museums in Vancouver, and the Canadian Department of Mines Geological Survey.

Speeches series

Series consists of the text of speeches given by Harry Logan and notes, legal documents, and scrapbooks.

Campus, Municipal, and Architectural Plans series

Series consists of maps, plans and charts relating to Buck's interests in planning the UBC campus, Vancouver, and other cities between 1911 and 1950. Their organization is by subject, following the arrangement of Buck's other papers.

Research/Lecture Notes series

Series consists of examinations, notes, manuals, correspondence and reports about individual courses and specific research projects taught or conducted by Eagles. Series contains two subseries: Course Materials and Miscellaneous Research Materials subseries. Course Materials subseries is arranged by course title

Alumni Association History Files series

Series consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, drafts, clippings, notes, reports, scrapbooks, and programs relating to historical research carried out by members of the Alumni Association. Also included are items of a general historical nature acquired by the Association from its members. The series consists of photographs, a photograph album, negatives, an audiotape recording, "Songs of UBC," two videotapes, and several UBC commemorative pins and buttons. The series contains four subseries: Miscellaneous Historical Materials, Frances Tucker's Research Files, Muriel Clark's Memorabilia, and Musical Society Heritage Committee subseries.

U.B.C. Building Files series

The series consists of the original blueprint, white print or linen architectural drawings, as well as some mylar copies; photographs of buildings at various stages of construction; related correspondence, reports, journals, minutes of committee meetings, forms of tender, quotations, agreements, specifications, certificates of insurance, and schedules of hardware; and pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and other published materials. The records have been retained by their order of acquisition by the Archives.

Senate elections series

This series comprises material relating to the triennial elections for Senate positions and the special elections for Chancellor. Series includes correspondence, nomination forms, ballots, procedure outlines, reports, financial records and statements of election results. In addition, the series contains registers listing the members of Convocation.

Correspondence/Subject Files series

Series consists of files that contain correspondence and also some other material. As this material arrived in no discernable order, the files have been arranged alphabetically by the topic assigned by Davidson.

Publications series

Series consists of copies of all of M.Y. William's publications which formed part of the papers. As established by Williams' bibliography, the publications have been divided into the following categories: "Geology," "Geography," and "Ornithology and Zoology."

Vancouver, BC, and Out-of-province Building Files series

The series consists of files about buildings the firm built or altered in Vancouver, elsewhere in British Columbia, and outside the province. Some of the files deal with contracts that the firm did not win. The records include original architectural drawings; photographs; and related correspondence, reports, journals, minutes of committee meetings, forms of tender, quotations, agreements, specifications, certificates of insurance, and hardware schedules. The records are arranged into sub-series based on the project files and grouped under subject headings chosen by the architectural firm: Communication, Transportation & Public Utilities; Religious and Funerary; Exhibitions & Spectacles; Residences; Professional; Mercantile; Social & Recreational; Schools; Administrative & Financial; Universities - Canada (excepting the University of British Columbia); Community & Regional; Hotels & Cafes; Government; Industrial. This original order of categorization has been maintained. Some files on projects can be found under two categories, particularly Social & Recreational and Community & Regional. The projects are arranged alphabetically and then in chronological order within these subject headings. For some projects, Thompson, Berwick and Pratt created a publicity file, which has been put at the beginning of the files on the particular projects.

UBC series

Series consists of correspondence, minutes, programs, publications, pamphlets, manuscripts, and notes about Logan's involvement with the University of British Columbia. Series contains three subseries: Correspondence, Miscellaneous, and Printed Material subseries.

Miscellaneous Records series

The series consists of various records and correspondences under the registrar’s care. It includes inter-university exchanges, convocation records, senate records, multiple committees, information from other universities, directed reading courses and other matters.
