Assorted Poems series

Series consists of poems in both draft and final form, which are not arranged as part of a collection. These single poems may be typed or handwritten and may appear on conventional letter size paper, as well as fax paper, notebooks, and scrap paper. Many of the poems are annotated, and revised versions may appear in poetry collections.

Athey v. Leonati

Series consists of a legal document and memo related to the case against Leonati brought to the Supreme Court of Canada by Jon Athey in 1996, for damages related to a car accident.

Athletic Associations series

Series consists of correspondence and newsletters from athletic associations, including the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WCIAA), the Canadian Football Coaches Association, and the American Football Coaches Association. In addition, the series includes letters from Universities, Colleges, CFL and NFL team coaches.

Athletic Events series

This series consists of agendas, memorandums, and correspondence mainly on the Millennium Breakfast in the 2000s. Also present are records relating to the Big Block Awards Banquet and UBC Hall of Fame, including programs, newspaper clippings, and other miscellaneous items.

Athletics History series

This series consists of research compiled by Fred Hume on the history of athletics at UBC. Included is a chronological outline of the history of many of the university’s sports teams and the development of sporting facilities at the university. Materials also contain research on coaches and profile write-ups on sports people for the UBC Sports Hall of Fame. Football programs can be found in this series 1952-2019.

Athletics photographs series

The photographs in this fonds contain headshots of individual UBC athletes, coaches, managers, and administrators. Also included are team photographs, action shots, mascots and cheer squads. In addition, there are images of the Bobby Gaul Memorial Trophy presentations, Big Block and UBC Hall of Fame events. Unidentified images have been retained; specifically, unknown women athletes and teams were retained as women’s sports are underrepresented. Predominant sports represented in the photos include Thunderbirds football, ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, field hockey, soccer, swimming and rowing. There are photos of UBC athletes and teams in fencing, rugby, wrestling, gymnastics, tennis, square dancing, curling, skiing, sailing and cross country track and field.

Atmospheric Blocking and Northern Hemisphere Anomalies series

The series consists of various information about his doctoral thesis, including correspondence, seminar notes, drafts, and data. Much of the data was analyzed using computers and programs of the time. As a result, some notes and correspondence are handwritten or typed with handwritten additions.

AUCE Local Chapters

Series consists of records pertaining to the organization and activities of AUCE's Local chapters 2 through 6. Local chapters are as follows: Local 2, Simon Fraser University (SFU), Local 3, Notre Dame University of Nelson, Local 4, Capilano College, Local 5, College of New Caledonia, Local 6, Teaching Support Staff at SFU (TSSU). Series is comprised of the efforts of these local chapters including strikes, bargaining, and organizing new members. Many records in the Local 2 files relate to the arrest and consequential support for eighteen students and workers on the picket line while on strike at Simon Fraser University.
Record types include correspondence, strike records, constitutions, collective agreements, newsletters, pamphlets, and secession records.

Audio Cassette and Videotape series

Series consists of videotape and audiotape recordings. The audio cassettes primarily record conferences and other medical/physiological lectures. The videotapes are of Copp’s induction into the Order of Canada and a talk about his life in 1997.

Series contains cassette tapes recorded in 1974 or 1975 featuring interviews with those who witnessed or somehow played a part in the "Post Office Sit-down," a protest in Vancouver in 1938, also known as "Bloody Sunday."

Series consists of eight audio discs. Most of the discs are 33 1/3 r.p.m. although one is 78 r.p.m. The discs include performances by the Hart House String Quartet, as well as Harry Adaskin presenting his radio show Musically Speaking.

Audio Tapes series

Series consists of 15 audio tapes representing nine interviews of the School's faculty members and Directors, including the widow of one of the Directors that MLIS student Maurizio Dattilo carried out and Faculty Member Judith Saltman in March 2001. These interviews were later used in their book Forty years of Library Education: the School of Library, Archival & Information Studies, University of British Columbia 1961-2001, published by the School. All interviews were recorded initially on micro cassettes. All discussions were transferred to electronic formats in July 2003. Typescript interview manuscripts are available for all but one of the interviews. Note: Audio tapes have been removed and are stored with the UBC Audio Tape Collection.

Audio Tapes series

Series consists of sound recordings of various programs, radio plays, campus events, public service announcements, and advertisements produced by the Radio Society for broadcast on its station (CYVR/CiTR) or affiliated radio stations. In addition, the fonds includes recordings of interviews conducted on behalf of the Alma Mater society relating to its art collection. Some restrictions apply – some performance recordings cannot be copied or re-broadcast.

Audio visual series

The series consists of various tape formats, including VHS, Betacam SP, Betacam L, Mini-DV, Hi8, DVC-PRO, DVC-CAM and audio cassette tapes. The videotapes are assigned numeric and alphanumeric codes according to the format type and its order in the editing process. For example, the 6000 series are DVC-CAM and DVC-PRO tapes, whereas the 7000 are audio cassette tapes. It is not uncommon that VHS tapes were initially given two numbers codes (by the creator). The alphanumeric codes are the initial tracking codes. This is followed by numerical codes, as seen in the 5000, 7000 and 9000 series. The VHS tapes include time codes.

Only the Betacam are catalogued as part of the University Archives media holdings since these are considered the original, whereas the VHS and other formats are copies. The tapes contain footage of interviews, conferences, such as the Quebec Summit, and the editing process. The Betacam video tapes are accessible under VT UBC 1174 to VT UBC 1478.
Most media was retained, and the duplicate footage was kept in various formats, such as Betacam and VHS. Footage that was not retained consisted of televised material, published works, shots that contained images of landscapes, building exteriors and interiors, audio/video tapes that were damaged, contained no image, and no audio, duplicate footage, PAL format, and images which were severely blurred.
