Biographical history

Born in 1923, Stanley J. Hunter graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1948 in Mining Engineering. He spent over 42 years in the mining industry in Canada and abroad. He was employed as a surveyor, engineer, superintendent and mine manager at various mines in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Northwest Territories and the Yukon including Pioneer Gold Mine, Canada Tungsten, Emerald-Jersey, Granduc Mine, Geco;Mine, Panel Mine and Peso Silver.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of handwritten drafts of mining stories told by Stanley Hunter to the West End Talespinners at Barclay Manor, 1997 - 2002. In addiion, he wrote memoirs about his experiences in the mining industry including the Granduc Mine Story.
