Subseries documents events held by YWCA Metro Vancouver for current members, former members, and the broader Vancouver community. Events held by the YWCA include: anniversaries, reunions, and grand openings celebrating the YWCA, its services, and its membership; and awards and competitions during which the YWCA directly engages with the broader community. Activities represented include planning, marketing, and documenting events.

Providing physical fitness services alongside other wellness activities was an early function of YWCA Metro Vancouver. The organization introduced physical training classes between 1912 and 1914 and expanded its offerings after the opening of a new gymnasium in 1924. Fitness programming first encompassed classes such as marching, calisthenics, aesthetic and folk dancing, as well as athletic sports such as basketball and grass hockey. These physical fitness courses were offered alongside adult education classes including English literature, Bible study, French, dress-making, and shorthand. Over the following decades, the YWCA further developed its fitness courses, programs, and clubs alongside its adult education offerings at its central program building, Pender Y, various branch Y’s, and off-premises with Y clubs and at city-wide events. In 1957, a pool was added to YWCA facilities and swimming courses and programs were introduced. In the 1960s, the YWCA responded to an increase in Vancouver community centres and public facilities by moving towards courses focused on “social development” and “development of the individual.” 1964 saw the introduction of classes such as “Yoga-Psycho-Therapy,” “Judo: the Art of Self Defense,” and yoga camps. During the 1970s, the YWCA focused on fitness for special interest groups with its post mastectomy, prenatal, and osteoporosis programs. In 1994, YWCA Metro Vancouver opened its Health + Fitness Centre in its Hornby building. Programs center around its facilities including a pool, gymnasium with machines and weights, two studios for various classes, and pickleball court.

Material in this subseries arises from YWCA Metro Vancouver’s fitness programs and adult education classes, management of fitness facilities, and operation of services associated with YWCA fitness centres.

Some notebooks and planners from former managing editor Mary Schendlinger are also included.

These records include drafts of the work, as well as copies of correspondence and the contract between Bociurkiw and Lazara Press. Other records include other copies of correspondence related to the work, reviews and promotions of <i>Halfway</i> and other poems by Bociurkiw, and records related to the production of the work. The subseries also contains a copy of Bociurkiw's poem "Radio Nights," both in English and in German.

Subseries contains textual records pertaining to Leslie Hall's poetry broadside titled <i>35 Stones</i>. The records include drafts and layouts of the broadside, as well as copies of the published edition. Other records include correspondence, order forms, and invoices.

A notable portion of the subseries consists of photograph albums of the Bjarnason family.

The sub-series contains records related to Pocket Guide for Women Living with HIV/AIDS project. The pocket guide for women living with HIV was designed as a basic resource tool for women newly diagnosed with HIV. It was developed in consultation with HIV positive women, community AIDS workers, other social services providers and a literacy consultant. The result was a pocket sized (4 ½’ x 6”) folder with information sheets covering questions such as What is HIV? How does Hepatitis C affect HIV? PWN produced both a British Columbia edition, and a national edition in English and French.

Record types in the sub-series include project reports, letters of support for the project, financial records, requests for funding, layout of the pocket guides and timelines.

Subseries consists of correspondence mailed to George Walker since his coming to North America, except for two letters written to George by his wife, Hanne, during her transatlantic crossing several days before his. The subseries includes a large collection of letters from George’s older brother William (“Billy”) Orr Walker in Northern Ireland.

Records include an extensive amount of correspondence (which includes interoffice correspondence, correspondence between NAJC members and members of the Canadian government, correspondence between different chapters of the NAJC, and correspondence between the NAJC and various other individuals) on topics such as the redress campaign, the success of achieving settlement, financial operations, implementing compensations after settlement, information and updates on various meetings, conferences and events, the passing of motions, contract proposals, collaboration with and support of other groups (such as the Indigenous peoples of North America), the Nikkei Voice, funds, and other topics. Records also include cards, reports, newsletters, faxes, memos, printed emails, and letter files.

Subseries consists of newspaper clippings, articles, notes, photographs, and correspondence related to anti-choice individuals Pro-CAN was monitoring. Correspondence occurs between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters that were sharing information on possible threats and actions from the included anti-choice individuals as well as occasionally between Pro-Can and the actual individual. Photographs contain images of the named anti-choice protestors, usually picketing outside of abortion clinics. Some of the images contain graphic signage. Those photos included in the "Fanatic File" include handwritten notes on the back provided by the members of Pro-CAN.

Subseries consists of articles, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks that were collected and maintained by Pro-CAN for use as reference resources. The materials cover such topics as: abortion history, abortion-related violence, medical research, international pro-choice events, key persons, and political parties' involvement in the abortion debate, and so on. The scrapbooks are delineated by which newspaper the clippings came from.
