The records document the evolution of the School of Architecture, its activities and programmes, and its relations with other architectural institutions and professional bodies. They are arranged in the following series: Historical Files, Building of Fine Arts Centre / Lasserre Building, Director's Files, Possible Closure of School, Director Search, UBC Library Bookplate Competition, Course and Programme Materials, and Scrapbooks. The fonds also includes three sous-fonds (sub-groups): the papers of former director Douglas Shadbolt, records of the Architectural Undergraduate Society, and the papers of former student Peter Cotton.

The fonds consists of two series: the Roma Research series and a Publications series composed of copies of Cohn's publications. The first series includes material generated or collected by Cohn in the course of researching Roma. It includes audiotaped interviews of Rom with notebooks containing descriptions and analysis of the conversations; a computer-generated inventory of kinship ties among hundreds of North American Roma; a transcript of a New York trial (1962) of a Roma fortune teller; miscellaneous printed and published materials on Roma, collected by Cohn; and materials from a correspondence course for learning Romani (1969/70). The research series also contains photographs (1968-74) of Roma taken by Cohn throughout North America and Europe. The Publications series includes copies of Cohn articles (1959-1993) and a bibliography of his works (1950-1993).

Collection documents Misty Rose’s career as an exotic dancer from 1979 to 1990 primarily in the Lower Mainland and other locations in British Columbia. The collection includes both colour, and black and white studio photographs of Misty Rose in various scenes, poses, with accompanied props. Newspaper articles and clippings appear in the collection, featuring advertisements, promotional material, event information, and articles about establishments and individuals. Other textual materials includes agency business cards, newsletters, and performer engagement contracts facilitated by various agencies including International Artists, Westcoast Artists, Stripper Entertainment Agency, Choice Entertainment Ltd., The Agency, The Rose Agency and Mink Agency Talent Representatives. Stationary, contracts, memorandums and communications from hotels and establishments where Misty Rose performed also appear in the collection.

Previously known as the "Ethel Johns Research Collection", the fonds consists of records generated during Street's writing of the biography of Ethel Johns. It includes correspondence (1969-1974) with publishers and the Canada Council which funded the project; transcripts of interviews with students, friends and associates (1969-1970); copies of Johns' addresses and publications (including portions of an unfinished autobiography); and draft manuscripts for the book "Watch-Fires on the Mountains".

The fonds consist of reports from field surveyors submitted as applications to designate areas in British Columbia for protection. The fonds also contains supporting records relating to the wider Ecological Reserve program and include correspondence, progress reports, presentations, memorandums, lectures, briefs, surveys, "dead applications", news clippings, Orders of the Lieutenant in Council [photocopies], pamphlets, check sheets, aerial photographs, park proposals, handwritten notes, and meeting minutes. Also included is a small series of records relating to Vladimir Krajina, including; general correspondence, curriculum vitae, a list of publications, articles, newspaper clippings, notes, a legacy biography and obituary.
The archivist restored the original order where it was definitive. However, Ecological Reserve Applications 1-39 can be found scattered throughout the supporting records series. The original record keeper appears to have created a filing system beginning at the Ecological Reserve Application 40 (Petitot Rivers).

Fonds consists of documentation of the “Racism: Breaking the Silence” workshops, organized by the UBC Multicultural Liaison Office and its Director, Dr. Joan Anderson. Included are recommendations arising from the first workshop (March 1993), President Strangway’s keynote address at the second workshop (June 1993) and Dr. Anderson’s response.

Fonds consists of textual material, graphic material and artifacts related to Ron Bick Lee’s activities as a businessman, a community leader and a member of his immediate and extended families in Vancouver and back in mainland China and Hong Kong. The material includes correspondence, business related documents such as invoices and ledger books, and his community involvement related documents. The material also contains photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, other personal collections such as rubber stamps, birthday congratulations, self-learning notes and so on. Fonds consists of records which reflect Brink's participation on the Environmental Assessment Panel (1973-1983) and The Nature Trust (1984-1987). The papers include material arranged in the following series: correspondence, teaching and research. The papers also include reference booklets and pamphlets. Each series is arranged in chronological order. The records primarily contain one large correspondence series from 1953 to 1975, with bulk dates of 1961 to 1971. The correspondence contains Brink's faculty papers intermingled with the Division of Plant Science's central office files.

It includes the notes of her Ph.D. fieldwork in Kerala, India, 1947-1949 and her return in 1964, and those from her primary fieldwork in the Tanjore District of Southeast India in 1950-1953, then again in 1974. These consist primarily of field notes and other notes made during and after those trips. At the same time, much of the material can be found under the "Kerala" (1947-1949, 1964) or "Tanjore District (1950- 1953/1976)" series. Simpson's records within this aggregation are primarily in relation to legal proceedings against the City of Kelowna in pursuit of the maintenance of the Simpson Covenant, which limits use of waterfront land on a former mill site sold by S.M. Simpson to the City under restrictive terms of sale in 1946. In the 2000s, the City sought to dissolve the Covenant; Sharron J. Simpson founded a society to challenge this initiative.

The fonds consists of the research on Le Fanu conducted by Roy Stokes. Records relate to the personal life and professional writing career of Le Fanu that were collected and composed by Roy Stokes. Records include: four original letters by or for Le Fanu, typed transcripts of letters, and correspondence between Stokes and various people and institutions throughout his research process; bibliographies by Roy Stokes and other authors; photographs and photo negatives of Beaumaris; newspapers and articles; photocopies of book chapters; and a poster and program for the Gate Theatre performance of “Carmilla”.

The fonds reflects Johanna den Hertog’s involvement in various women’s movement, labour movement, political and public service positions predominantly from the 1970s through the early 1990s. Records include materials related to den Hertog’s contributions to the establishment of Vancouver Rape Relief, an organization established to provide services to rape victims, as well as other activities related to advocacy for women’s rights, such as her participation in planning the Women Rally for Action in 1976. Records related to her participation in the New Democratic Party (NDP) at the provincial level include her role as Vice-President/Executive member of the Provincial NDP (1981-1987), Co-Chair of Mike Harcourt’s leadership campaign (1987), leadership roles in the planning of the party’s 1982 convention and the 1983 and 1986 elections. Records related to her service as President of the NDP include materials related to her role as spokesperson for the party, chair of numerous committees, liaison with the labour movement and the party’s representative in international forums. Also included are records of her public speeches throughout Canada. The fonds also includes records related to den Hertog’s 1984 and 1988 campaigns to win election as a Federal Member of Parliament in the riding of Vancouver-Centre and the 1989 Provincial by-election for Vancouver-Point Grey, where she put her name forward for the NDP party nomination. Although unsuccessful all three times, she lost the 1988 campaign by a narrow margin. Records relating to den Hertog’s volunteer and project work include her service as a board member of the Canadian Centre for Arms Control, her publication of a book chapter on the constitutional debate that took place in Canada in the late 80s and early 90s, her service on the Royal Commission for Electoral Reform and her service as a commissioner for the National Citizen’s Inquiry into Peace and Security.

Fonds consists primarily of Parrott's criticism of D.E. Harker's history of St. George's School, Vancouver, entitled Saints. Parrott's notes and letters on the development of the school add a new dimension to the information found in the official history. Many letters contain correspondence to Anne Yandel, the former Head of Special Collections at UBC Library, and George Brandak, the Manuscripts Curator at the UBC Library. Also included in the fonds are documents related to Parrott’s status as a Canadian citizen.

The fonds consists of documents and records that would go on to compose The Pocket Desert radio documentary, which aired on CBC Radio’s Ideas, produced by Gayle Cornish, and co-created by Dr. Jeannette Armstrong and Dr. Geoffrey Scudder. The documentary concerns the unique desert climate and ecology in and around Osoyoos, British Columbia, and the significance of the land to Syilx Okanagan people. The fonds is organized into two series: 13.1 Production Files and 13.2 Broadcast Files.

The collection documents Mark Thompson's involvement in the arbitration of labour disputes in British Columbia. It consists of published conference proceedings (1967-1979), copies of various collective agreements, arbitration and mediation case files (1973-1988), and reviews of the Employment Standards Act (1990-1996), and includes correspondence, reports, legal documents, notes, and published materials.

The fonds consists of material related to David Aberle's research activities, academic work and writing. It includes the notebooks and journals of his fieldwork beginning in 1940-41 and continuing through 1991. These consist primarily of field notes and other notes made during and after those trips. The vast majority of this material relates to Aberle's work with the Navajo in Arizona. The fonds also includes notes, articles, data and codes relating to Aberle's research into kinship and language among the Navajo, Mongols and Athapaskans, and extensive research into Navajo culture and economy. The fonds also includes correspondence on a variety of academic subjects, including Aberle's teaching materials from UBC's Department of Anthropology and Sociology. His work includes several reports written as part of the Navajo-Hopi land dispute. Gathered by a former student and colleague, Charles F. Ripley, this research collection includes three series relating to Terzaghi including; biographical materials, publications and professional reports. The reports series includes information about the British Columbia projects with which Terzaghi was involved. The research collection also includes copies of publications by Ralph B. Peck and J.D. Mollard.

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Osborne that relate primarily to his work with the various local, provincial, national and international sports and athletic organizations throughout his career.

The collection consists of correspondence, photographs, newsletters, and other materials related to the UBC graduating class of 1935 and the various reunions and alumni activities associated with that class.

Fonds consists of textual records and published materials produced or acquired by Keith Ralston primarily through his historical research and other professional activities, along with a small selection of personal materials. It is arranged in the following ten series, which largely reflect how the records arrived in their original order: Department of History, Thesis, Dictionary of Canadian Biography, Cowichan Fishing Case, Public Record Office, Hudson’s Bay Company Research, Research, Associations, Personal, and Day Books.

Fonds consists of audiovisual material created or compiled during production of the film. It consists largely of interviews with Suzuki, members of his family and associates, filmed presentations by Suzuki, video clips from the CBC program, "The Nature of Things", and film of Suzuki and family members in various locations in British Columbia, Ontario and elsewhere. There are also stock shots and newscast clips related to environmental issues, and a copy of Suzuki’s debate with Philippe Rushton on the question of race and genetics.
The content of this fonds is housed on several different video and audio formats: Betacam SP, Hi-8, VHS, U-Matic tape (¾ in.), reel audio tape (¼ in.), audiocassette tape and DAT audio tape. Much of this audio and video material was used in the production of the final "cut" of the documentary, and content is represented across several of these formats, with audio content found in both audio and video formats. The larger volume of the content was recorded in the field (especially on Hi-8 and Betacam SP tape) and subsequently copied to VHS tape for editing. Detailed investigation of the VHS tapes against the Hi-8 and Betacam SP tapes will reveal whether the entire content of the latter has been copied to the former in all instances.
The original order of the content was preserved by format and the finding aid is organised on this principle. In addition, a second "intellectual" ordering of the content is provided as an appendix to the file listing: in that document the set of time-coded VHS tapes that were used for editing purposes have been utilised as the central feature of the fonds. It is hoped that this will permit researchers to see relationships that exist between the several formats.
The textual records were turned over to the University Archives by Peter Davis in 2015.
