Audio Tapes series

Series consists of 15 audio tapes representing nine interviews of the School's faculty members and Directors, including the widow of one of the Directors that MLIS student Maurizio Dattilo carried out and Faculty Member Judith Saltman in March 2001. These interviews were later used in their book Forty years of Library Education: the School of Library, Archival & Information Studies, University of British Columbia 1961-2001, published by the School. All interviews were recorded initially on micro cassettes. All discussions were transferred to electronic formats in July 2003. Typescript interview manuscripts are available for all but one of the interviews. Note: Audio tapes have been removed and are stored with the UBC Audio Tape Collection.

Audio Tapes series

Series consists of sound recordings of various programs, radio plays, campus events, public service announcements, and advertisements produced by the Radio Society for broadcast on its station (CYVR/CiTR) or affiliated radio stations. In addition, the fonds includes recordings of interviews conducted on behalf of the Alma Mater society relating to its art collection. Some restrictions apply – some performance recordings cannot be copied or re-broadcast.

Series consists of audio recordings of productions of various Bankson theatrical productions. Three reel-to-reels (1963) and five cassette tapes. They are located in the archives vault AT 3877 to 3884.

Audio Recordings series

Series consists of copies of recordings of the interviews done during the SVEN portion of the study. The originals were created between 1979 and 1982. The copies were created in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These recordings are listed in the Archive’s Audio/Visual Binder under AT 3788: 1-242.

Audio Disc (vinyl) series

Series consists of eight audio discs. Most of the discs are 33 1/3 r.p.m. although one is 78 r.p.m. The discs include performances by the Hart House String Quartet, as well as Harry Adaskin presenting his radio show Musically Speaking.

Audio Cassettes series

Series contains cassette tapes recorded in 1974 or 1975 featuring interviews with those who witnessed or somehow played a part in the "Post Office Sit-down," a protest in Vancouver in 1938, also known as "Bloody Sunday."

Audio Cassette and Videotape series

Series consists of videotape and audiotape recordings. The audio cassettes primarily record conferences and other medical/physiological lectures. The videotapes are of Copp’s induction into the Order of Canada and a talk about his life in 1997.

Atmospheric Blocking and Northern Hemisphere Anomalies series

The series consists of various information about his doctoral thesis, including correspondence, seminar notes, drafts, and data. Much of the data was analyzed using computers and programs of the time. As a result, some notes and correspondence are handwritten or typed with handwritten additions.

Atlantic Accord subseries

Subseries consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings and a diary relating to the signing of the Atlantic Accord. The correspondence includes dialogue between Minister Carney and Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, and Newfoundland’s Minister of Energy William Marshall. The sub-series also consists of a copy of the Atlantic Accord signed by Carney, Mulroney, Premier Brian Peckford, John Crosbie, Bill Marshall and others.

Athletics photographs series

The photographs in this fonds contain headshots of individual UBC athletes, coaches, managers, and administrators. Also included are team photographs, action shots, mascots and cheer squads. In addition, there are images of the Bobby Gaul Memorial Trophy presentations, Big Block and UBC Hall of Fame events. Unidentified images have been retained; specifically, unknown women athletes and teams were retained as women’s sports are underrepresented. Predominant sports represented in the photos include Thunderbirds football, ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, field hockey, soccer, swimming and rowing. There are photos of UBC athletes and teams in fencing, rugby, wrestling, gymnastics, tennis, square dancing, curling, skiing, sailing and cross country track and field.

Athletics History series

This series consists of research compiled by Fred Hume on the history of athletics at UBC. Included is a chronological outline of the history of many of the university’s sports teams and the development of sporting facilities at the university. Materials also contain research on coaches and profile write-ups on sports people for the UBC Sports Hall of Fame. Football programs can be found in this series 1952-2019.

Athletic Events series

This series consists of agendas, memorandums, and correspondence mainly on the Millennium Breakfast in the 2000s. Also present are records relating to the Big Block Awards Banquet and UBC Hall of Fame, including programs, newspaper clippings, and other miscellaneous items.

Athletic Associations series

Series consists of correspondence and newsletters from athletic associations, including the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WCIAA), the Canadian Football Coaches Association, and the American Football Coaches Association. In addition, the series includes letters from Universities, Colleges, CFL and NFL team coaches.

At Home in the Universe: The Life and Times of William Shatner fonds

Fonds consists of audiovisual material created or compiled during production as well as 14 folders of written documentation related to the production of the film. It consists largely of interviews with Shatner, members of his family and associates, portions of previous roles portrayed by Shatner, as well as reminiscences from other prominent actors such as Leonard Nimoy, Kate Mulgrew, Patrick Stewart and Jason Alexander. There is also extensive footage of Shatner at his ranch, hosting his annual charity horseshow, touring his childhood home and McGill University, and his attempts to save the wild horses of Santa Cruz Island.
The content of this fonds is housed on several different video and audio formats: such as Betacam SP(small) and (large), Hi-8, VHS, U-Matic tape (¾ in.), audiocassette tape and DAT audio tape. Much of this audio and video material was used in the production of the final “cut” of the documentary, and content is represented across several of these formats, with audio content found in both audio and video formats.

Assorted Sports series

These files contain records of multiple UBC sports teams. Please see the file list for sports covered in this series. Items include newspaper clippings, The Point [campus sports newspaper], media guides, and other miscellaneous items.

Assorted Poems series

Series consists of poems in both draft and final form, which are not arranged as part of a collection. These single poems may be typed or handwritten and may appear on conventional letter size paper, as well as fax paper, notebooks, and scrap paper. Many of the poems are annotated, and revised versions may appear in poetry collections.

Series consists of correspondence, notes, newspaper clippings, photocopied articles, and other printed material concerning an assortment of authors, poets, and playwrights, including significant materials on Frances Brooke, Dave Godfrey, Kendel Hippolyte, Mistry Rhinton, Alice Munro, and Jessie Simie.

Assorted Associations and Conferences series

Series consists of correspondence, printed material, and notes about various associations and related conferences in UBC and elsewhere. It includes lectures, roundtable discussions and radio talks. File 13-9a transferred by Dr. Elvi Whittaker in June 2021.

Series consists of records of various meetings of the SSFC in which Elvi Whittaker attended, including Board of Directors, Executive Council, General Assembly and Women's Issues Network Meetings. Series consists of minutes, reports and publications.

Associate Vice-President Academic (Dr. A.J. McClean) series

Series consists of budgets, reports, minutes of meetings, studies, and correspondence about the period in which the Associate Vice-President Academic oversaw the Centre for Continuing Education (1988 to 1994). In addition, the Reorganization and Strategic Planning records of the early 1990s were added to this series during the 2018 accession.

Series consists of correspondence, reports, memoranda, policy and working papers and agenda and minutes relating to the administration of the Associate Dean's Office. In addition, the series includes materials relating to the Faculty's curriculum review under Dean Lysyk and the proposed Health Law Institute.

Asia-Pacific Economic Co-Operation series

The series consists of files from the Office of the President of the University of British Columbia, relating to the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) meeting held at UBC on November 25th, 1997. Files relating to the Office of the President's involvement in the meeting organization, the build-up to the incident and its aftermath. The series includes correspondence, media files, student complaints, reports, memoranda, pamphlets, meeting minutes, and legal documents. Files have been arranged chronologically. Other records related to APEC that may be of interest can be found at UBC Archives in the following; APEC Inquiry Collection and B.C. Civil Liberties Association – APEC Inquiry fonds.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Inquiry Collection (various collectors)

The collection consists of exhibits, videotapes and documents collected for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), correspondence and legal documents related to both the PCC and related legal actions, APEC Alert posters, information, pamphlets and ephemera, other material collected and created by Oppenheim with regard to the events surrounding APEC and the RCMP PCC, transcripts of the PCC proceedings, and a number of photographs.

Asian Studies Department series

This series consists of correspondence and reports from the different committees, programs, foundations and societies that Howes participated in and contributed to as a professor in the Asian Studies department at UBC. The series also contains information concerning the department's map and library collections, as well as the development of the Nitobe Gardens.

Asian Library sous-fonds

The Asian Library/Centre opened in 1960. It was dedicated to holding a research collection of Asian language materials, initially as the Asian Studies division of the Main Library (now the Irving K Barber Learning Centre). The collection is now located inside the Asian Centre, which opened in 1981. Represented in its resources are Chinese, Tibetan, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Persian, Indonesian across many disciplines, with a strong focus on humanities and social sciences.
Sous-fonds consists of administrative records organized into files by year. Files contains correspondence, annual reports, meeting minutes, staffing schedules and work plans.
