Elitha Peterson Productions - “Champions for Change” fonds

The fonds consists of textual documents and audiovisual materials that relate to the filming and production of “Champions for Change.” The textual materials include synopsis and scripts, tape logs, shot lists, transcripts and interview transcripts. A number of the tapes (including #3, #9, #10, #16, #17, #20 and #21) are not transcribed. The audiovisual materials are 26 videotapes, including master copies of the three-part series “Champions for Change,” the master dub tape, and additional footage of interviews with key individuals. The individuals interviewed include Chantal Benoit, Jeff Adams, Chantal Petitclerc, B. MacPherson, Kristine Bacharach, Travis Engen, Dan Gangier, Eric Gagnon, and Rebecca Borneman. The tapes also include stock footage and B-roll shots.

The fonds consist of 15 incoming letters from Ethel Johns (1948-1950, 1961-1965), Director of Nursing Services and Education at Vancouver General Hospital, and the new nursing program at UBC. Under Johns' guidance, the five-year plan established the B.Sc. in Nursing. The fonds also include biographical information and records relating to Flanagan's various awards, including an honorary doctorate from McGill University (1977).

The fonds consists of records from the Fraser River Model Project (1949-1962); the Vancouver Harbour and Burrard Inlet Model Project (1953-1956); materials generated in teaching and taking UBC engineering courses (1922-1972), academic materials generated outside of the UBC system, and miscellaneous engineering projects that Pretious participated in his time at UBC (1942-1977). The records have been separated into six different series. Reports and memoranda which were issued as a series have been arranged in series order, but other items were filed arbitrarily under the two projects and have been maintained this way.

These sketches were commissioned for an article on UBC in the ILN, 22 September 1956 (pages 467-470). Some have captions or notes attached, and notes on the verso regarding those printed in the ILN. The Library acquired them in January 1991. The drawings include the UBC Library's interior, the Library from the outside, the exterior of the Science Building, view looking north from the top of the Science Building, Brock Hall, the War Memorial Gym, the Wesbrook building, and an experiment in a laboratory in the Science Building.

Series consists of manuscripts, correspondence between the writers and the editor of Pacific Affairs, and correspondence between the editor and the academic referees who review articles before publication. Ecological Reserves Supporting Records series

Series includes records relating to the selection and confirmation of Ecological Reserves in BC. The records present in this series include correspondence, memorandums, meeting addresses, lectures, briefs, surveys, reports, “dead applications,” news clippings, Orders of the Lieutenant in Council, booklets, pamphlets, programs, check sheets, aerial photographs, park proposals, handwritten notes, and meeting minutes. Reports and check sheets on Ecological Reserves 1-39 are found throughout the records in the supporting records series. In addition, some of the reports in this series address the progress of the Ecological Reserve program in BC. Boxes: 4-8.

Ecological Reserves Applications series

The application reports include the handwritten report taken in the field and a typed and signed version of the report and maps. The IBP check sheet and correspondence related to the site are present. Each Ecological Reserve application file is not always complete; in some, the handwritten field reports are missing, and in others, the typed reports are unsigned. Application reports for Ecological Reserves number from report 40 through to report 367. Reports and check sheets on Ecological Reserves 1-39 are found throughout the records in the supporting records series. The inventory in the finding aid provides the geographic location of each report. These reports are arranged in chronological order. However, not all reports are present; missing report numbers include 89, 91, 263, 298-300, 314 & 330. Boxes: 1-3

Echoes of the Holocaust series

This book was published by PEP in 2007. It appears that nearly all the chapters were previously published as articles in other publications, based on the fact that the “original manuscript” is a collection of these articles with hand-written page numbers. Series consists of drafts, reviews, and correspondence.

Eastern Trips series

Series consists of notes generated by Klinck during visits to eastern universities to interview candidates for various positions at UBC.

Earthquake series

Series consists of materials related to earthquakes and, in some cases, may overlap with the volcano research series. In addition, this series includes correspondence, articles, maps, one photograph, and hand-written notes.

Early University Records series

The series consists of correspondence (1890-1920) generated both before and during UBC's first two presidents, Frank Wesbrook and Leonard Klinck. The correspondence that predates the appointment of UBC's first President Wesbrook deals with various issues, including membership in Convocation, appointments to the Board of Governors, hiring a President and selection of a site for the University. Correspondence generated during the presidencies of Wesbrook and Klinck provides information about the University's establishment, the hiring of staff, strictures placed on the University during World War I, attempts to move the University to its eventual Point Grey campus and many other matters. Arranged chronologically by year and then alphabetically. The series also includes subject files (1904-1936), divided into pre- and post-1915 and arranged alphabetically.

Early History series

Series consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, course curricula, and personnel records of candidates for the Head of the Department of Music from 1956-58. It documents the origins of music instruction at the University, with the minutes of the University Committee on Music, the President's Music Committee, and the Senate Committee to Consider the Establishment of a School of Music.

Early Computing Centre series

The series consists of records that document the origins and establishment of the UBC Computing Centre. However, most of the records document the historical evolution of the administration and the operation of the Centre between the time of its opening and 1970. In addition, it includes information from the Automation Committee and material on installing the Centre's first computer, the ALWAC III-E. The arrangement is based on the reconstruction of a file guide found among the records.

The series includes materials related to early career endeavours: newspaper clippings, fan mail, scripts, and correspondence.

Fonds includes materials pertaining to the Engineering Science Leads Committee of the B.C. Agricultural Sciences Co-ordinating Committee (BCSCC) on which Watson sat for the period 1967-1978. Composed of representatives of the Provincial Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture Canada, and the UBC Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Committee advised the Minister of Agriculture and allotted research funds for research projects within the province.
