Arts department records series

Series consists of correspondence, reports, minutes, and other textual records relating to Wynn's interaction with various departments in the Faculty of Arts and his involvement in departmental issues and concerns.

Artifacts series

Series consists of three artifacts, including a drawing of Cyrus Bowers, grandfather of Mary Bollert; a mailing tube used by Grace Bollert, sister of Mary Bollert, to house a number of her degrees; and a Coronation Medal and letter sent from Buckingham Palace to Mary Bollert to commemorate the coronation of King George VI.

Artifacts series

Series consists of Black's war medals, colour pallet, brushes, pencils, art and carving instruments, and skulls used in teaching. It also includes a sculptured head, colour separations used to reproduce some of Black's art for cards and other purposes, and a stamp album begun in Black’s youth.

Artifacts series

Series consists of artifacts from St. John’s University in Taiwan, world reunions of the Johanneans, and St. John’s University Alumni Associations, including badges for the world reunions and souvenir caps, cups, T-shirts, ring, crystal artworks, magnifiers, key chain watch, paper weight and gift flag. Box 6 contains hard artifacts (e.g. non-fabric materials), while box 7 contains soft artifacts (e.g. fabric materials).

Articles, Talks and Notes series

Series consists of assorted material pertaining to George Curtis and a list of select papers by Curtis. Also included are autobiographical notes written by George Curtis about his own life (titled “memoranda”), as well as discussions with others and supporting documentation recalling his role in various events and legal cases – these were acquired in the 2014 accession.

Articles, Statements, and Speeches series

Series consists of various articles, statements and speeches Beesley made throughout his career. Series is arranged chronologically. The CD-R optical discs contain jpeg images of the textual material. Speeches relate to political issues and debates surrounding the Law of the Sea Conference. The jpeg images are arranged into folders by subject and were scanned at a low resolution (l00 dpi).

Articles series

Series consists of draft copies of articles, columns and commentaries, correspondence relating to the articles’ publication for Suzuki’s article series with The Globe and Mail (1987-1989), the Southam News Syndicate (1985-1995) and Science Dimension (1984-1986). In The Globe and Mail correspondence files, one can find correspondence relating to Suzuki’s column’s cancellation and the fallout from that decision. Series is arranged chronologically by the start date of the column and then chronologically within each article series.

Articles and Reviews series

Series consists of articles, reviews, correspondence, clippings, photographs, reports, essays, and applications pertaining to Sage's professional activities, including those within the UBC Department of History. The series contains five subseries: Articles, Reviews, Other Material, Later Papers, and Department of History subseries.

Article Series

Series consists of rough drafts and revisions of manuscripts submitted for publication in BC Studies. Also included are correspondence between the authors and the journal editor, as well as comments and reports from referees before publication approval. Series arranged by issue and author.

Article Reprints series

The series consists of two sub-series. The first includes undated copies of article reprints arranged alphabetically by the author. The second includes bound volumes of departmental reprints from 1958 to 1981.

Arthur Evan Boss fonds

The fonds consists of an album created by former UBC student Arthur Evan Boss. It contains over 560 small black and white photographs, of which approximately the first half relate to UBC and taken between 1917 and 1924. The 232 UBC images include many views of students and student life at the original Fairview campus. As well as posed individual shots of students, there are many photographs of various student activities, including the annual class picnic. Although there is limited duplication of images already in the Archives, the photographs are, for the most part, unique, and a large majority of them have captions with enough information for identifying individuals. Images in the second half of the album lack detailed description and do not appear to relate to UBC.

Art Work series

Series consists of original sketches (483) and watercolours (120), lino and woodblocks and prints, cancellation proofs for lithographs and woodcuts, as well as other art forms (including street banners and welded metal) in which Black worked. There is also a small volume of artwork by others.

Art series

The series consists of eight numbered woodcut prints by Johnson. It was originally sold to James Thornton in 1982 or 1983.

Armed Forces at UBC Oral History Project Collection

The collection consists of audio recordings and transcripts created from interviews conducted as part of an oral history project to document the evolution of military training on campus. Interviewees discuss campus military organizations and student participation in war as well as peace movements at UBC. The interviews provide information about campus life and the interviewees' extensive experience in the Canadian Armed Services.

Archives Policy and ACA Survey series

The series consists of records documenting Laurenda Daniells’ role as the University Archivist, particularly her work on the University Archives policies. Materials include manuals, drafts, notes, memorandums, reports, and surveys.

Archaeology series

Series consists of the following subseries: correspondence, subject files, awards, biography, address book, diaries, lecture notes, lectures, reading lists, daybooks, class lists, examinations, student transcripts, notebook, notes, clippings, newsletters, minutes, minutes and agenda, conference papers, manuscripts, radio broadcasts, archaeological digs, data, carbon 14 dates, charts, illustrations, project progress reports, reports, papers, bibliography, project evaluations, project proposals, financial records, pictorial material, index cards, sound recordings, and artifacts. The materials in this series pertain to Borden's activities in archaeology.

Appraisement series

Series consists of an appraisement report produced for the University by the General Appraisal Company of Vancouver, appraising the value of UBC’s properties and physical assets. The report comprises nine volumes; an index included with Volume 1 and a recapitulation.

Appointments series

Series consists of correspondence, travel itineraries, copies of speeches, agendas, minutes and other materials relating to various events and meetings attended by Michael Smith between 1994 and 2000. Identified as "Appointments" in Smith's filing system, the events/activities have been filed chronologically.

Apple Classroom of Tomorrow subseries

Subseries consists of files from Robert Tierney’s research on the "Apple Classroom of Tomorrow" at West High School in Columbus, Ohio. This research preceded Tierney’s appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Education. It includes general information, publications, student files and classroom photographs.

APEC RCMP PCC Exhibits subseries

The subseries consists of documents compiled by various government agencies and civilian witnesses for exhibit during the RCMP Public Complaints Commission. The exhibits consist of correspondence, witness statements, police statements, photographs and videotapes and other materials considered pertinent for inclusion. The exhibits are arranged in alpha-numeric order where applicable and then maintained by the donor.

APEC Protest series

On November 24 and 25, 1997, student protests occurred on the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus regarding the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings, leading to a violent crackdown by police. This series contains materials related to David Breen’s involvement with the protests, including complaints filed regarding excessive force by police, the documents related to the official RCMP Complaints Commission, the hearings, and the final report. Also included are news articles from the Vancouver Sun and Ubyssey covering the issue. Materials are arranged by subject and then chronologically.

APEC Exhibits and Related Documents subseries

The subseries consists of documents compiled by various government agencies and civilian witnesses for exhibit during the RCMP Public Complaints Commission. The exhibits consist of correspondence, witness statements, police statements, photographs and videotapes and other materials considered pertinent for inclusion in the PCC. The series also includes the Commission's Interim Report, published in July 2001. The exhibits are arranged in alpha-numeric order where applicable and then by creating agency or individual.

APEC Alert and Jonathan Oppenheim Documents subseries

The subseries consists of materials created and disseminated by APEC Alert before the APEC summit and in its aftermath and materials collected and created by Jonathan Oppenheim. It consists of posters, pamphlets, and ephemera produced by APEC Alert, information about APEC and the leaders of the APEC countries; News Releases about the PCC and a letter written to UBC faculty. In addition, it includes documents composed by Oppenheim and other APEC Alert members in their attempts to subpoena then Prime Minister Jean Chretien to appear at the RCMP PCC.

"Anti-War" Period series

Series consists of publications (mainly "underground" newspapers), manuscripts, notes, and audio recordings of Maillard's radio show The Underground News on WBUR Boston University Radio. Material is arranged in four sub-series: Underground Writings, Reference, Correspondence, and Audio Recordings.

Anthony Scott fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, publication manuscripts and offprints, lecture, course notes and research files. The records offer extensive evidence of Scott's activities of teaching, research, publications and involvement with various government economic commissions. Also included are photographs (most of which are included in two scrapbooks), and a CD containing digital versions of much of Scott's written work since 1980.
