Jerusalem Committee subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, essays, notes, clippings, correspondence, memos, invitations, minutes, memorandum, newspapers, agendas, pamphlets, note cards, reports, plans, and maps, relating to H. Peter Oberlander’s professional contribution to the Jerusalem Committee.

Jean Coulthard subseries

Subseries consists of notes, articles, correspondence, drafts, papers and miscellaneous research materials relating to Jean Coulthard.

Jane C. Fredeman and Tony Blicq subseries

As the Senior, then Managing, Editor of UBC Press from 1973-1990, Jane C. Fredeman was primarily responsible for the solicitation and editing of manuscripts; while A.N (Tony) Blicq, as the first Executive Director of the UBC Press, was responsible for both the establishment of the departmental infrastructure, and the practical realization of the mandate of the Press itself.
Correspondence sub-series consists of drafts of letters and memorandum regarding readers reports, grant proposals, interdepartmental communication, correspondence with authors, warehouse operations, letters of acknowledgement, changes to administrative procedure and restructured responsibility, requests for donations, quotation permission, and manuscript rejections.

IUAES subseries

Subseries consists of records documenting Belshaw's involvement with the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES), including correspondence, minutes, reports, publications, and financial records.

ISSC subseries

Subseries consists of correspondence and reports documenting the activities of the International Social Science Council (ISSC).

Interviews subseries

Mostly research notes, correspondence and bibliographic press clippings regarding interviewees. Includes a few consent forms and research from the City of Vancouver Archives.

Institute of Pacific Relations subseries

The correspondence sub-series consists of letters and financial statements documenting the printing and distribution of works before the establishment of UBC Press, primarily by the Institute of Pacific Relations. The records overlap the tenure of Tony Blicq as Executive Director.

Infant Mortality Project subseries

Subseries consists of research notes and annotated German-Language articles on Infant Mortality between 1880 and 1940. The Infant Mortality Project looked at the changing medical understanding of infant mortality before WWI. Ward pursued a professional and personal interest in this project, but it did not reach the publication stage.

IFSEA subseries

Subseries consists of records documenting Belshaw's involvement with the International Federation of Scientific Editors Associations (IFSEA).

Human Solidarity subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, essays, notes, clippings, correspondence, memos, invitations, minutes, memorandum, newspapers, agendas, pamphlets, note cards, reports, plans, and maps, relating to the Human Solidarity conference at Habitat II in Istanbul, Turkey in 1996 and the 1998 Global Meetings on Community Economic Development in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Records relating to the Habitat II conference are also found in the United Nations Works and Activities subseries.

Houser subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, correspondences, clippings, articles interviews, prospectus and notes relating to the creation of Houser: The Life and Work of Catherine Bauer.

Hawaii Planning and Development subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, essays, notes, clippings, correspondence, memos, invitations, minutes, memorandum, newspapers, agendas, pamphlets, note cards, reports, plans, and maps, relating to H. Peter Oberlander’s professional work with Hawaii Planning and Development.

Harry Seidler subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, essays, notes, clippings, correspondence, memos, invitations, minutes, memorandum, newspapers, agendas, pamphlets, note cards, reports, plans, and maps and a political cartoon relating to H. Peter Oberlander’s professional work with Harry Seidler.

Grants subseries

Subseries consists of various grant application materials from Foundations, Boards, and Departments requesting funds to conduct scientific research. The materials include applications, funding and financial information, correspondence, research proposals and reports.

Grant records series

Sub-series consists of completed forms, notices, and correspondence relating to the Institute's application for various grants, as well as records pertaining to institutional reviews by granting bodies and the administration of grant funds.

Grant applications sub-series.

Subseries consists of various grant application materials made out to the Medical Research Centre (MRC), the BC Health Care Research Foundation (BCHCRF), the Canadian Heart Foundation, and other institutions requesting funds to conduct scientific research. The materials include applications, funding and financial information, correspondence, research proposals and reports.

General NGO subseries

Subseries based on an arrangement by the creator; as such, there is some overlap with other sub-series in this series. Materials include correspondence, reports, minutes, and publications from various organizations.

General Ministerial Records subseries

Subseries consists of correspondence, speeches, magazines and other materials which reflect Carney’s general activities as Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources. The sub-series also contains notes from the 1985 First Ministers Conference on the economy and Privy Council publications which outline the positions of Minister and Deputy Minister.

General Correspondence sub-series

Sub-series consists of professional, business, and personal correspondence addressed to Jane Rule. It includes correspondence and some manuscript material from writers (both professional and aspiring) and correspondence from other artists, publishers, organizations (professional and political), and fans. Files also contain greeting cards, postcards, and clippings. Files are arranged primarily alphabetically by correspondent. The writers and other artists represented are Margaret Atwood, Pierre Berton, Earle Birney, June Callwood, Anne Cameron, Donna Deitch, Timothy Findley, John Koerner, Mary Miegs, Kate Millett, Almeta Speaks, Aritha Van Herk, Eleanor Wachtel, and David Watmough.

General Correspondence subseries

Subseries consists of general correspondence with various organizations and people. Although most of the correspondence was written by Sydney Friedman, some were written by and addressed to his wife, Constance.

General college files series

Subseries consists of files of correspondence, reports, brochures, and other textual records relating to Wynn's liaison activities with various colleges and university colleges in British Columbia.

General APEC Documents and Correspondence subseries

The subseries consists of various documents related to the APEC PCC. It includes a variety of APEC-related correspondence, exhibits, submissions and notes. Much of the material is related to the perceived lack of cooperation of the Prime Minister's Office in providing access to necessary documents. Or access to the Prime Minister himself, as well as including Procter's note which led to Andy Scott's resignation and the end of the first phase of the RCMP PCC.

Foreign Missions and State Visits subseries

Subseries includes personal notes, briefing notes, itineraries and newspapers from official missions to China by Minister Carney. In addition, the subseries consist of materials from Expo 85, Tsukuba, Japan. The subseries also contains programs and menus from official state functions Carney attended as Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources.

Field work subseries

Correspondence, photographs, grant proposals, drawings, and maps related to Sawyer's work in the field, mainly in Peru. Also included are materials associated with Sawyer's role as an expert lecturer on board the M.S. Vistafijord. Some material regarding other work across North America.

Field Office subseries

Subseries consists of a distinct set of subject files from the Field Development Office. They relate to programs or events organized by the Field Development Office, such as the Young Writers Workshop.

Federal Government Works and Activities subseries

Subseries consists of drafts, essays, notes, clippings, correspondence, invitations, minutes, memorandum, newspapers, agendas, pamphlets, note cards, reports, plans, and maps, relating to H. Peter Oberlander’s professional work for the Federal Government of Canada. Also includes materials relating to Oberlander’s work with the Ministry of Town and Country Planning in the United Kingdom. Oberlander was there as a part of the Canadian National Research Council in the post-World War II period.

Family Reconstitutions Project subseries

Subseries consists of records related to the Family Reconstitutions Project, including censuses, maps, tax assessment rolls, and research notes. The Project was a series of family reconstitution studies for the cities of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and Perth, Ontario, in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ward pursued a professional and personal interest in this project, but it did not reach the publication stage.

Family Correspondence sub-series

Sub-series consists of correspondence between Jean Coulthard and family members (husband Donald Adams and daughter Jane Adams), and early correspondence addressed to Jean Coulthard's parents, Walter and Jean Robinson. Sub-series arranged chronologically.

Family Correspondence sub-series

The sub-series consists of correspondence between Jane Rule and members of her family, primarily letters written by Jane to her parents, which were eventually returned to her. Also included are some letters from her father, brother, sister, and nephew. Files also contain greeting cards, postcards, and clippings. Finally, a correspondence file from March Cost, a British author and family friend, addressed primarily to Jane's mother.

Faculty subseries

Subseries consists of memorandum, minutes, correspondence, reports, notes, and documentation generated by faculty of the Division of Industrial Education, mainly Chairman and Assistant Chairman, including R.J. LeDuc, W.R.F. Seal, and W.J.P. Logan. The majority of the files documents their administrative roles. Some files documenting their teaching activities are also included. The subseries has been re-organized in alphabetical order by the faculty’s last name.
