Fonds consists of the compiled works and supporting documents of Peter Carl Anderson with reference to his career as playwright, actor, writer, and artist. The fonds is arranged into nine series: Acting; Art; Awards; Correspondence; Photographs; Personal Publicity; Writing; Produced Plays; and Caravan Farm Theatre files.

Acting

Series consists of documentation of the acting activities of Peter Carl Anderson, including such productions as Beckett and Arsenic and Old Lace as well as The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat, Anderson’s first performance. Records include scripts, notes, cards, programmes, and newspaper articles.

Correspondence

Series consists of letters and other correspondence received by Peter Carl Anderson, including praise and accolades, as well as rejection slips, and personal family correspondence.

Personal publicity

Series consists of press and media coverage of Peter Carl Anderson in response to his artistic and dramatic outputs. Includes some publicity ephemera, such as production posters and programs. Includes video recordings of Anderson’s activities for communications or publicity purposes. Other records include clippings and tearsheets.

Produced plays

Series consists of plays written by Peter Carl Anderson and related documentation leading to and reflective of performance of live theatre. Comprised of scripts, sheet music, rehearsal and production notes, administrative files, publicity, photographs, and audio recordings of performances. Plays covered include Caravan Farm Theatre Productions such as Animal Farm; Bull By The Horns; Caravan Music Revue; Hands Up!; Head Over Heels; Horseplay; Law of the Land; Sleigh Ride Christmas Carol; The Ballad of Weedy Peetstraw; The Blue Horse; and The Coyotes.

Awards

Series consists of documentation of the award nominations and award receipts of Peter Carl Anderson. Awards include the Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards (“Jessies”) and the Hopwood Awards, among others. Records include clippings, tearsheets, application forms, and general awards dockets.

Photographs

Series consists of photographs, including scans and born digital photographs, depicting Peter Carl Anderson as subject. Spanning childhood, career, and life leading toward retirement. Many productions, not related to Caravan Farm Theatre, are described in the digital file names.

Writing

Series consists unpublished writing, including music composition. Also consists of criticism and editorial work. 35 books, with full or partial authorship, editorship, or other association attributed to Peter Carl have been separated from the fonds and catalogued as items. Adelaide Festival

File contains three programmes from the 2004 Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts. One is a booking guide and the remaining two are programmes for the production of "The Overcoat."

File contains an envelope with production programmes, newspaper clippings, cards, letters, postcards, identification cards, invitations, and notes.

File contains two spiral bound booklets with copies of media coverage from the 2003 and 2007 productions of "The Overcoat."

[Correspondence]

File contains printouts of emails to and from Peter Anderson regarding the presentation of the play, "The Overcoat."

[Newspaper printouts]

File contains printouts and photocopies of newspaper articles regarding the presentation of the play, "The Overcoat."

[Notebooks]

File contains notebooks with handwritten notes from Peter Anderson about the play, "The Overcoat."

File contains a folder with textual records including newspaper clippings, notes, letters, a nametag, press releases, and paystubs. The folder also contains several photographs.

[Programmes]

File contains two programmes. The first is from the production of "The Overcoat" in Connecticut, while the second is from the 2005 Festspillene Bergen International Festival in Norway.

[Photographs and costume drawing]

File contains photographs from the set of the play "The Overcoat," as well as a costume drawing of the play's character "The Man" who was played by Peter Anderson.

File contains two magazines containing articles about the production of the play, "The Overcoat."

Coyotes' Christmas & Christmas Carol

File contains two envelopes bound together. Each contains drafts of scripts, notes, and correspondence. The plays included are "Sleigh Ride Christmas Carol" and "Coyotes' Christmas."

Weedy

File contains file holder with records pertaining to the play "The Ballad of Weedy Peetstraw." Records include scripts, notebooks, ephemera, cards, and newspaper clippings.

File contains three leaflets and one postcard advertising the showings of "The Coyotes" in 2019 and "The Coyote's Christmas" in 2001 at the Caravan Farm Theatre.

File contains one file folder with photocopies of newspaper articles, newspaper clippings, cards, postcard, letters, programmes, invitations, and magazines.

The coyotes

File contains a spiral bound copy of the script for the play "The Coyotes" by Peter Anderson. Pages of sheet music have also been attached to the book.

[Weedy Peetstraw]

File contains an envelope with production programmes, newspaper clippings, leaflets, scripts, and sheet music from the various productions of the play, "The Ballad of Weedy Peetstraw."

Law of the land

File contains two spiral bound books. The first book contains the script for the play "Law of the Land" and also contains newspaper clippings, a card, and papers. The second book contains the music score for the play, as well as loose pages of sheet music.

Theatre Calgary

File contains one envelope with newspapers clippings, photocopies of newspaper articles, cards, programmes, and magazines about the showings of "The Overcoat" in both Calgary and Edmonton in 2007.

File contains one identification card for Peter Anderson from the 2004 New Zealand International Arts Festival identifying Anderson as an artist for "The Overcoat."

[Envelope]

File contains one envelope with newspaper clippings, photocopies of articles, and ephemera about the Vancouver showing of the play, "The Overcoat."

[Award Nominations]

File contains one envelope with two nomination cards for Peter Anderson. The first is for the 17th Annual Gemini Awards in the category of Best Performance in a Performing Arts Program or Series. The second is for the Leo Awards in the category of Best Lead Performance - Male Feature Length Drama.
