Fonds consists of textual records and other materials created or acquired in Samuel Laycock's life and career and includes correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, photograph albums, diaries, course materials, published materials, and personal memorabilia. It is arranged in the following series: Writing, Personal, Correspondence, Subject Files, "The Family Life and Sex Education Information Service" (OTENA series), Educational Research Institute of British Columbia (ERIBC series) Survey, Publications, Photographs, and Memorabilia.

The fonds consists of biographical material, correspondence, files relating to the teaching of geography, copies of articles and reprints, and speeches. The fonds also includes an undated manuscript entitled Freedom in Africa, photographs and audiotapes. There is also a small series of records relating to the College and Faculty of Education (1956-1972).

The fonds consists of general correspondence (1937-1991), personal correspondence files (1950-1985), and miscellaneous personal records. Fonds also includes lecture notes, outlines and other materials relating to courses taught by Haddock at University of Washington, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University (1954-1982). In addition, the fonds contains records of his participation with the UBC Speakers Bureau (1976-1987) and subject files. The collection consists of materials acquired by Special Collections and the University Archives and maintained for purposes of historical research. The materials are arranged alphabetically by subject or name (e.g. organisations, University departments, events, buildings/places, and individuals).

Throughout his education and political careers, the records were generated by William Bruneau and relate both to personal and professional interests.
