Snapshots Victoria B.C.

A photo album from a British Columbian woman known only as K.B.S. Predominantly family snapshots, as well as photos of travels throughout British Columbia, including Salt Spring Island, Shawnigan Lake, and Victoria. The cover of the leather album is adorned with an image of an Aboriginal chief and a simple landscape. Photos and album are still in good condition. The first large number of images are captioned, but towards the end most are not.

[Early Vancouver]

An album of photographs taken by an English visitor mostly of various places and views throughout Vancouver, plus a few of Niagara Falls. The album has been disassembled and is housed in a box. There are 67 original albumen prints in plastic sleeves, with silver gelatin copies and their negatives attached to each one. There are also seven modern reproductions.

[Abramson Family Album]

A family album that comes from the estate of one Mr. Abramson, a former Consul General of the United States to Canada. The photos are from throughout British Columbia and California, in Kelowna in particular. Most of the images are captioned, but many are too faded to be fully legible. There is some significant damage to the album and some of the photographs. One negative is also tucked into the album.

File contains records of UBC President's Advisory Committee on Safety, Security and Fire Prevention, dated September 6, 1974 to December 1984, predominant 1982 to 1984. Records include correspondence, meeting minutes, and monthly "UBC Accident and Industrial Disease Report". File also contains studies on Video Display Terminals (VDTs) and related materials.

[Ten Annual Cycling Trips, 1938-1947]

Photo album documenting sisters Clara and Kitty Wilson’s ten annual cycling trips taken throughout British Columbia in July and/or August of 1938 through 1947. The first seven trips were on Vancouver Island, the eighth in the Okanagan, and the ninth and tenth in the Cariboo region. The photos are thoroughly captioned and still in good shape. Also included are the letters and postcards they sent home during the trips (half of each card written by each sister), as well as newspaper clippings, business cards, a menu from BC Coast Steamships, a telegram, and a negative. There are also 25 hand-drawn cartoons highlighting some of their adventures. They nicknamed their bikes Rastus and Ginger, and also use a variety of pet names when signing their letters and referring to family members. The album is in decent shape though the pages are flaking at the edges. See also UL_1596 for a family photo album kept by the sisters.

An album of a Vancouver family, documenting their travels throughout B.C. and the United States as well as life in Vancouver, including the royal visit of 1939. The pages are beginning to tear out of the album, but the photos are still in relatively good shape (with some fading).

[Wilson Photo Album]

A personal photo album kept by Clara and/or Kitty Wilson of Vancouver. Mainly portraits of the two sisters and their friends and family, plus some shots in and around Vancouver and British Columbia, including photographs of the Vancouver Pier 'D' Fire of 1938. Very few of the images are captioned. There are also a couple of postcards, and at least one negative included. The album and photographs are in great shape. See also UL_1591 for an album of Clara and Kitty's cycling trips, a few of whose photos are repeated here.

[Robert Sinclair]

A photo album from a man named Robert Sinclair. The photos are predominantly of family snapshots, and images from around their rural home in British Columbia. There are also some of farming and logging, and a few of different cities and locales throughout British Columbia. Some of the photos are captioned, but none are dated. The album is secured with a metal clasp and is in quite good condition, as are the photographs.

An album of photographs, plus some loose images, focused on early British Columbian life taken throughout the province. The album is badly damaged and the spine is virtually non-existent; though some photos are faded, many are still remarkably vibrant.

[Possible Murray Family Photo Album]

An album of predominantly landscape photographs from throughout British Columbia, as well as a few in Vancouver, including some of ships in the harbour. In the back after a number of blank pages are also some family snapshots. Many of the photos are captioned in fading pencil. The album may have belonged to a member of Kathleen Murray's family.

A photo album of images taken in and around Vancouver, including Stanley Park, Howe Sound, Bowen Island, and Deep Cove; also includes family portraits and other miscellaneous scenes. Housed in a leather-bound album with an image of an Aboriginal Chief burned onto the cover. The captions are badly faded, and some of the photos are fading as well.

The Vanishing Race, The Long Headed Indian of the West Coast of BC

An album of photographs believed to be in British Columbia, including landscape images as well as a number of portraits of Aboriginal peoples, many hand-coloured. Only the photos on the right-hand pages are signed by Ben William Leeson (as B.W. Leeson). It is possible that an unknown individual added their snapshots on the facing pages to a book of Lesson images.

[Barkerville & BC Photographs]

Album likely assembled at a later date by a dealer, however many are related to Barkerville, British Columbia, and a fire that destroyed the town in September of 1868. There are also other assorted images including portraits of prominent British Columbians such as James Douglas, and scenes in other small towns throughout the province. Most of the photographs are reproductions from images at the B.C. Provincial Archives and date from 1857 to 1930.

A Visit to British Columbia 1898

An album of photographs from a trip to British Columbia (plus Spokane, Washington), by a man identified only as F.L.M., accompanied by at least two others (McMillan and English). The images depict a number of cities as well as landscapes and some mining and manufacturing facilities. It is a pre-printed album made by Kodak, though the original housing mechanisms appear to be missing and the photos are glued to the page. Some pages are blank, but it does not appear that photos have been removed; though three sheets have been cut out from the back.

AUCE Provincial Special Convention September 1982

File contains material and handwritten notes from the September 1982 AUCE Provincial Special Convention. Material includes the agenda, financial statements, and proposed constitutional amendments. File also contains a copy of the AUCE Provincial constitution (amended June 1981), a copy of the Provincial's "Policies and Procedures" (amended June 1981), and a copy of the "Rules of Order Governing AUCE Convention".

File contains the agenda and associated material of the June 1981 AUCE 8th Annual Provincial Convention. Associated material includes delegates, rules of order, 1980 convention minutes, provincial executive reports, financial statements, provincial committee reports, local reports, resolutions, constitutional amendments, emergency proposals, and miscellaneous documents (report appendices and copies of correspondence).

AUCE Special Convention on Affiliation

File contains the agenda and associated material of the April 1980 AUCE Provincial Special Convention on Affiliation. Proposed affiliations include BCGEU, CCU, CLC, CUPE, OTEU, SORWUC, and UFAWU. File also contains a voting card, an identification pin, draft ballots on amendment proposals and emergency resolutions, rules of order, the minutes of the 6th Annual AUCE Provincial Convention (June 1979), the April 1980 AUCE Affiliation Committee Report, and proposed resolutions.
