On verso: "A scene showing the shipping and logging activity on the Sydenham River.
Notice the dark building on the right bank.
It was here that the famous Lee-Enfield Rifle was invented by William Lee in 1878. Mr. Lee also created the first typewriting machine in conjunction with Remington-Rand.
White oak went from Wallaceburg to England for shipbuilding. Red oak was shipped to the West Indies for rum barrels. Elm was manufactured into flour barrels and cordwood was shipped to Detroit Michigan."

On verso: "This is the famous log jam of the 1890's which clogged the Sydenham River. Large quantities of freshly cut logs laying on the banks of the upstream Sydenham were washed into the river by a spring storm."

MacDonnell (regarding the Clandonald colony of Scottish immigrants in Alberta) and the British Columbia Coast Steamship Service. Includes documents, ephemera and artifacts of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, including records of travelers on CPR rail and steamships.
