Diaries and other Compilations series

Series consists of extracts from letters, manuscript notes, diaries, notebooks, and manuscripts compiled by various members of the Warren family. In addition, the series includes bound sketches by Henry Warrenne (contained within the binding is a clasp knife that belonged to Warrenne).

Photographs series

Series consists of photographs and negatives taken during Weisgarber’s time in Japan, during which he studied shakuhachi (vertical bamboo flute) playing and construction. Also featured in the images are some of the men Weisgarber studied, including Tanaka and Kotahara.The 2018 accessioning introduced photos of Elliot, his family, and friends.

Registration Cards series

The series consists of student registration cards with names and personal information. The cards indicate the faculty of the student, their year, and the courses requested in each session.

Dr. George Albert McGuire series

Series consists of correspondence, text of speeches, memoranda, reports, photographs, and a scrapbook about the professional and personal activities of Dr. George Albert McGuire, Hunter Lewis' father-in-law. Correspondence is arranged chronologically and then alphabetically.

Offprints series

The series consists of offprints of published works by Schofield. Series includes an offprint by A.W. Grabeau, The Sinian System.

Family Papers series

Series consists of family papers, including original letters to Henry Dunckley. It also includes letters to William Angus, William H. Dunckley and the diaries of Mary E. Angus.

Glass Slides, Negatives, and Film series

The series consists of photo prints, glass slides, and negatives used by Turnbull in his teaching. The numbers assigned to the various small boxes have been retained. The series also includes a 16 mm film titled Metal Crystals, Microscopic Technique.

Series consists of manuscripts and associated research material arising from Johns' A Study of the Present Status of the N-gro Woman in Nursing (1925).

Fonds consists of 370 black and white negatives taken between 1917 and 1924. The images are primarily of UBC students at the University's original Fairview campus. There are also shots of faculty members. As well as posed individual shots of students, there are many photographs of various student activities including the annual class picnic. Although most of the photographs are not identified they are very important for collectively documenting student life at the University in the late teen’s and early 1920s.

Arthur Evan Boss fonds

The fonds consists of an album created by former UBC student Arthur Evan Boss. It contains over 560 small black and white photographs, of which approximately the first half relate to UBC and taken between 1917 and 1924. The 232 UBC images include many views of students and student life at the original Fairview campus. As well as posed individual shots of students, there are many photographs of various student activities, including the annual class picnic. Although there is limited duplication of images already in the Archives, the photographs are, for the most part, unique, and a large majority of them have captions with enough information for identifying individuals. Images in the second half of the album lack detailed description and do not appear to relate to UBC.

Series consists of manuscripts, research materials and correspondence relating to M.Y. William's publications and reports.

Items in file 13-3a "Birds of Hong Kong" were transferred to the University Archives by David Mattison of the British Columbia Archives.

Agricultural Committees series

Series documents Moe's participation on several committees or boards: the Agronomy Conference (a joint convention of federal and provincial agronomists and the U.B.C. Department of Agronomy, of which Moe was secretary), the Provincial Seed Board (the board was administratively linked to the federal and provincial governments and the Canadian Seed Growers' Association, and Moe served as secretary), and the Graduate Committee of the Canadian Society of Technical Agriculturists (of which Moe served as chair). It consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports, and notes.

Fonds consists of a hard-cover autograph book, inscribed on the frontispiece “Helen A. Cook – June 1924 – Anyox, B.C.”. It is filled with inscriptions by Cook’s friends from her times at St. George’s School (1925), North Vancouver High School (1926), U.B.C.(1927), and the Provincial Normal School or “PP.N.S. (1928). In addition to signatures, there are poems, literary quotes, small watercolours, and sketches.

Series consists of notes and copies of lectures prepared by Boving. Original file titles have been preserved wherever they have been identified. Because the original order of the remaining lectures has been lost, they have been arranged in alphabetical order by title – it is possible that Boving initially organized them by subject. Lecture fragments have been filed separately. Most of the lectures are undated.

Correspondence series

Series consists of a 1908 form letter from the Dairy Students' Union in Hants that has autographs on the reverse, a 1912 letter from the Emigration Branch of the Interior Department of the Government of Canada, a short correspondence in 1922 with Florence Luddington in England about Double Cottenham Cheese, and a 22-page report written in 1930 to the manager of the Powell River Company regarding "The Discoloration of Wood Pulp." Series also includes several undated miscellaneous letters, including a letter from a London art valuer company called Law, Foulsham & Cole, that lists china for sale. The letter is accompanied by five black and white photo prints of the numbered items.
