Photographs and illustration

Sub-series consists of photographs and an illustration pertaining to the Canadian Tugboat Company, Limited. Photographs related to crew members, launching ceremonies and christenings, tug and barge operations, tug damage, the tug powerplant, and vessel construction.

Minutes

Sub-series consists of a book containing minutes of the Company’s first
Directors’ meeting, first general shareholders’ meeting, as well as the Company’s first bylaw.

Financial records

Sub-series consists of the company’s financial records, including annual accounts and statements, trial balances, monthly statements, and a balance sheet. Includes statements for subsidiary companies, Canadian Boxes Limited, Northern Pulpwood Limited, Badwater Towing Company, and Hudson Paper Co., Ltd., and for construction performed on the mill at Ocean Falls in 1929 and 1930.

Photographs.

Sub-series consists of photographs and negatives pertaining to Pacific Mills
Limited’s operations in Ocean Falls, B.C., and the construction and operation of
the previous mill. Sub-series also includes many photographs relating to the
development of Ocean Falls, B.C. as a community.

Financial records.

Sub-series consists of financial records of companies taken over by Crown
Zellerbach Canada Limited. Includes statements of accounts, balance sheets and operating statements for Bartram Paper Products Company Limited and its subsidiaries Bartram Properties Limited and Bartram Industries Limited, and a general financial ledger for Beatty Laminated Limited.

Legal records.

Sub-series consists of documents pertaining to company legal concerns, including records related to the company’s acquisition of Beatty Laminated, Ltd., and records concerning a patent dispute with Unipak Industries in 1959.

Poetry.

Series consists copies of published poems, drafts, manuscripts and unfinished poems. Original order (filed alphabetically by title) has been kept, with poems found elsewhere in Douglas' papers added in appropriate place. Order of poems kept in other groupings has been maintained.

Articles

Consists of three subgroups as originally organized by Douglas : Mountain Articles (arranged alphabetically by title), Coast Articles, and Other Articles (both groups arranged by subject, then alphabetically by titles). Most of the articles date from the late 1940s through the 1980s.

Fiction

Consists of short stories and a prospectus for a novel (unfinished)

"Nature Rambles"

Series consists of articles written for a regular column "Nature Rambles" in the Victoria Times-Colonist "Islander", filed chronologically, by month (original order).

Christmas Letters

From 1952 to 1991 Douglas printed a 2 to 4 page Christmas Letter which she sent to over 200 friends and correspondents. Series consists of printed copies of these letters; some are carbon typescripts.
