[Minutes and Agendas]

Subseries includes minutes, agendas, meeting notes, internal election information, and voting and attendance records for Pro-CAN's Steering Committee and General Membership meetings from 1987 to 2005.

[Funding]

Subseries consists of proposals, notes, and correspondence with potential donors discussing upcoming projects and positions within Pro-CAN that will require funding.

[Committees]

Subseries consists of official rules, bylaws, action plans, vision/mandate, membership lists, and recommendations of Pro-CAN's various committees. The forms and paperwork required for incorporation–as well as the resulting certificate of incorporation–are also included.

[Publications]

Subseries consists of: black and white versions of original Pro-CAN newsletters as well as official colored versions; BCCAC newsletters; press releases; pamphlets; notes and reference materials used for drafting speeches; and membership forms.

Internal Communications

Sub-series consists of communication records that do not appear to have been shared with the public outside the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) at the time of their creation; the sub-series reflects the internal activities of the NAJC. Records include an extensive amount of correspondence (which includes interoffice correspondence, correspondence between NAJC members and members of the Canadian government, correspondence between different chapters of the NAJC, and correspondence between the NAJC and various other individuals) on topics such as the redress campaign, the success of achieving settlement, financial operations, implementing compensations after settlement, information and updates on various meetings, conferences and events, the passing of motions, contract proposals, collaboration with and support of other groups (such as the Indigenous peoples of North America), the Nikkei Voice, funds, and other topics. Records also include cards, reports, newsletters, faxes, memos, printed emails, and letter files.

Anti-Choice Individuals

Subseries consists of newspaper clippings, articles, notes, photographs, and correspondence related to anti-choice individuals Pro-CAN was monitoring. Correspondence occurs between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters that were sharing information on possible threats and actions from the included anti-choice individuals as well as occasionally between Pro-Can and the actual individual. Photographs contain images of the named anti-choice protestors, usually picketing outside of abortion clinics. Some of the images contain graphic signage. Those photos included in the "Fanatic File" include handwritten notes on the back provided by the members of Pro-CAN.

[Articles and Newspaper Clippings]

Subseries consists of articles, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks that were collected and maintained by Pro-CAN for use as reference resources. The materials cover such topics as: abortion history, abortion-related violence, medical research, international pro-choice events, key persons, and political parties' involvement in the abortion debate, and so on. The scrapbooks are delineated by which newspaper the clippings came from.

Correspondence

Subseries consists of Lansdowne's personal and business-related correspondence. There is also a large assortment of mail sent to and from his representatives at M.F. Feheley Arts Company Limited and TDF Artists Limited. Other senders/recipients include: museums, galleries, civil society organizations, friends, family members, and fans of Lansdowne's work.

Magazines featuring Lansdowne's artwork

Subseries consists of copies of magazines in which Lansdowne's artwork is featured and/or in which an article about Lansdowne has been published. Some of these publications include Maclean's, Audubon, Canadian Audubon, Nature Canada, National Wildlife, Vanguard, and many more.

Newspaper and magazine clippings

Subseries consists primarily of clippings from newspapers and magazines featuring articles pertaining to the life and career of Lansdowne or subjects of personal and professional interest such as art, nature, or British history. Also included are a small number of photographs.

Vancouver Centre 1984

Sub-series documents den Hertog’s campaign to win election as a Federal Member of Parliament in the riding of Vancouver-Centre in 1984. She was unsuccessful, losing to Progressive Conservative candidate Pat Carney.
Records include an official campaign resource binder, newspaper clippings, press releases, drafts of den Hertog’s nomination speech, notes for speaking engagements, and correspondence.

Vancouver Centre 1988

Sub-series documents den Hertog’s campaign to win election as a Federal Member of Parliament in the riding of Vancouver-Centre in 1988. She was unsuccessful, losing by a narrow margin of 269 votes, to Progressive Conservative candidate Kim Campbell.
Records contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, election results, campaign posters, plastic campaign signs, campaign brochures, publicity photographs and other materials, drafts of den Hertog’s speeches including her nomination speech, post-election debriefing materials, NDP policy briefing documents, Vancouver Centre riding demographics, and campaign expense records.

Sub-series reflects Mary Bishop’s interest in and research about global population trends in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. This sub-series is mostly comprised of published grey literature on topics related to population, including population statistics, population policy, laws, education, and world fertility surveys.

Sub-series consists of catalogues, bulletins, and brochures relating to art exhibitions. Sub-series also contains biographical information on Nan Cheney.

Medical Illustration

Sub-series consists of medical drawings produced by Cheney during her career as a medical illustrator at Johns Hopkins, McGill, and the University of British Columbia. Sub-series also contains subject files and clippings relating to medical illustration.

Sub-series consists of photographs and photonegatives of Ethel and Wallace Wilson.

Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada

Sub-series reflects Mary Bishop’s volunteerism as part of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada, where she was vice president between 1975–77, and also served on the board. In 1975, Bishop represented the PPFC at the United Nations International Women’s Year Tribune in Mexico.

Records in this sub-series include documentation of Bishop’s participation in several international conferences (such as itineraries, photographs, notes, and reports); newspaper clippings; committee documents; correspondence; reports; financial records and statements; and draft marketing and communication of the PPFC.

Presbyterian Church

Subseries consists of records related to Manson's involvement in the Presbyterian Church, such as his work fundraising for the construction of St. Andrew's Hall at the University of British Columbia.

These records include church publications, speech notes, papers related to church fundraisers, congregational lists, and correspondence.

Agendas

Subseries consists of agendas, diaries, and planners that Manson used. These agendas date from the later part of Manson's life and many were only partially filled.

Speeches

Subseries consists of records related to speeches that Manson gave and which he did not identify as belonging to a specific area of his life or career or which belong to multiple areas of his life and career.

These records include speech notes and drafts of speeches.

Government department files

The subseries contains files for 1973-74 and for 1975, organized alphabetically by name of British Columbia's Government Departments. The files contain memoranda, news releases and reports from the departments, in roughly chronological order. The series includes an extensive group of files for the Department of Industrial Development Trade & Commerce/Economic Development, which contains interdepartmental memos chiefly between the Minister, the Deputy Minister, and their Executive Assistants, briefing documents on departmental organization, staffing, policy and activities, drafts of legislation, minutes, and papers of Branch Head meetings, budgets and account printouts, and departmental bulletins, publicity and reports. Cabinet meeting agendas and briefing papers are filed under the heading "Provincial Secretary".

General government files

The subseries contains materials not coded for filing that accumulated while Lauk was acting as both Minister of Mines & Petroleum Resources and Ministers of Economic Development, as well as materials accumulated during the provincial general election. Records include research materials and submissions and correspondence received.

Pacific Coastal Region

Sub-series contains photographs taken by Alan Haig-Brown to document the marine industry and culture in British Columbia, Alaska and Washington state primarily, with some files related to Oregon, California and Hawaii. The file-level arrangement preserves the original order of the creator, who grouped his photographs by date and - typically - location.

Subjects depicted include BC Ferries and their crews, the Vancouver Harbour and the Fraser River.
