Correspondence series

Series consists of incoming and copies of outgoing correspondence generated and received by Professor Harry Logan.

Photographs series

Series consists of six photograph albums, containing 1464 b&w prints, documenting Samuel Laycock's WWI service in Europe and later travels; 1249 other b&w and colour prints, documenting Laycock and his family, friends, travels, and professional activities; and approximately 2800 35mm colour slides documenting his travels. Most of the photographs remain unsorted, although some have titles or other identification on the back.

Photographs and Artwork Series

Series consists of photographs of Keith, his family, friends of his father, and interesting locations. It also consists of artistic photographs taken by Keith and a painting of Gene Maillard. The series is split into Photographs and Portraits.

Sedgewick Memorial Collection series

The Sedgewick Memorial Collection was gathered by friends of Sedgewick following his death to honour his achievements.
Series consists of letters, verses, speeches and articles written by Sedgewick, photographs, a scrapbook of Sedgewick's newspaper columns, and printed materials. In addition, the series includes correspondence, sketches, and reports relating to the establishment of the Sedgewick Memorial fund and the Sedgewick Memorial reading room in the Main Library. Correspondence in files 4-23 was forwarded to the University Archives by Robert P. Aproberts in 1995.

Black/Howie family series

Series consists of genealogical information about the Black and Howie families and material relating to Black’s father, James Black, including a photograph album with images from the Boer War and various ships from World War I. In addition, there are documents relating to Black’s mother, Elizabeth Campbell and granddaughter Yarah Hooley, and a copy of a Black family history published by Myra Davey (née Black) in 2006, with a CD of digitized images.

Allon Peebles fonds

This fonds consists of records relating to Dr. Peeble’s family and professional life, including correspondence, newspaper clippings, programs and pamphlets, photographs, and DVDs. This fonds also includes records relating to various family members, created and acquired by Allon Peebles’ daughter Priscilla Galloway. The fonds is arranged into eight series, which include, Condolence Letters and Budget Book, Reports and Publications, Correspondence, Family History, Event and Travel Memorabilia, Photographs, Multimedia, and Certificates.

Peebles, Allon

Photographs series

The series consists of photographs, slides and negatives dating from 1900 to 1977. Most of the earlier photographs (1908-1924) are of MacKenzie and his fellow students at Pictou Academy and Dalhousie University. The photographs from 1924 to 1943 show MacKenzie in the various positions he held, including as the representative of the International Law Association, legal advisor to the International Labour Office, professor at the University of Toronto and president of the University of New Brunswick. Photographs from 1944 to 1962 are primarily of MacKenzie in his role as president of the University of British Columbia; of others associated with the University, of UBC buildings; many important visitors to the campus including Queen Elizabeth, Eleanor Roosevelt, and foreign dignitaries; and of MacKenzie's friends and family.

Sam Black fonds

The fonds consists of biographical material, family information, correspondence, speeches, publications, subject files, teaching and reference material, photographs, audio and videotapes and artifacts. The fonds also includes various forms of Black's artwork. A copy of a Black family history published by Myra Davey (née Black) in 2006 had a CD of digitized images.

Series consists of photographs of John Ridington and other family members, the UBC campus, and one group photograph taken during the Canadian visit of the Duke of Devonshire (1917).

Map series

Series consists of geographical maps pertaining to various regions, particularly within Canada. Series is arranged alphabetically by country and, within Canada, by province.

Correspondence series

Series consists of correspondence from Peebles and his family. Series also includes non-correspondence material, such as Peebles’ birth certificate, newspaper clippings, etc.

This series consists of materials written by or relating to Margaret herself. These include personal journals, sketchbooks, correspondence, graduation and varsity sports photographs from the University of Toronto and a small amount of campaign material relating to her time with the Toronto Board of Education.

Roy Daniells fonds

Fonds consists of Daniells' personal and professional incoming and outgoing correspondence, diaries, speeches, radio broadcasts, manuscripts, poetry, subject files, research files, postcards and postcard collections, clippings, financial records, audio material, photographs, memorabilia and printed material. Also included are the records of Roy's parents, James and Constance Daniells. The correspondence series contains thousands of letters from prominent literary figures such as Earle Birney, Robert Finch, Desmond Pacey, Northrop Frye, Herbert Davis, E.K. Brown, A.S.P. Woodhouse, as well as writers, poets, and artists such as Paul Hiebert (Sara Binks), Carol Coates, Max Maynard, Jack Shadbolt and others. His works are represented by manuscripts of his poetry, fiction, drama, scholarly work on Milton and modernism and Canadian literature, speeches and broadcasts, autobiography, diaries, and many letters to his family. The fonds also contains notes of sympathy received by Daniells' family after his death.

Postcards series

Series consists of postcards saved by Daniells since childhood. They are arranged roughly in chronological order. The art cards were collected mainly for research purposes. There are 481 early (chiefly pre-1910) postcards and circa 480 later cards for a total of 960 postcards.

Field Notebooks/Diaries series

Series consists of field notebooks created by Williams or others who worked on projects he was involved. Series is arranged chronologically by date of creation. In addition, notes briefly explaining the creation of the notebooks have been added.

Commonwealth Literature Series

The series consists of records such as correspondence, notes, and drafts of bibliographies relating to Commonwealth literature and New's involvement in several Commonwealth literature projects, including the Commonwealth Poetry Anthology, The Journal of Commonwealth Literature and the Commonwealth Encyclopedia.

Personal Material series

Series consists of diaries, offprints, notes, financial materials, notebooks, examinations, certificates, essays, and printed material about Sage's personal life, including his student years. Biographical notes on Nelda Sage, Enoch Sage, and Henry T. Gerrans. Series contains four subseries: Biographical Material, Diaries, Financial Records, and Student Records subseries.

Lester Winston McLennan fonds

The papers consist of McLennan's reminiscences of his Fairview days and life as a Rhodes scholar. Also included is a series of correspondence dating from 1924 to 1976. The correspondence has been arranged in two ways. The general correspondence has been simply arranged chronologically while other letters and cards, which McLennan sent to the Archives as identified groups, have been maintained as such. The papers also include printed material from the Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars and Balliol College.

It includes correspondence (1969-1974) with publishers and the Canada Council which funded the project; transcripts of interviews with students, friends and associates (1969-1970); copies of Johns' addresses and publications (including portions of an unfinished autobiography); and draft manuscripts for the book "Watch-Fires on the Mountains".

Series consists of records pertaining to her time as supervisor of Saskatchewan Regional Libraries. Volkoff Family History series

Series consists of records documenting the history of the Volkov/Vokkoff family and includes correspondence, a cloth mail-bag which once held much of the correspondence, official documents such as passports and marriage certificates, hand-written accounts of family history by Mikhail Mikhailovich Volkoff, transcriptions of correspondence and family history manuscripts translated into English from the original Russian, and digital copies of these transcriptions stored on CDs. Files are arranged in chronological order. Many manuscripts, correspondence, and official documents are written in Russian (Cyrillic alphabet). Some official documents originating from Harbin, Manchuria, are written in Chinese. Some manuscripts are hand-bound.
