The fonds consists of copied research material used by W. Kaye Lamb in the preparation of his edited work on the voyages of George Vancouver; correspondence, clippings, photostats and related research records used in preparing the Simon Fraser journals; original illustrations used in the Vancouver publication; and published charts and photocopies of historical maps used by Lamb in his projects.

The Librarian's Office is the administrative centre of the UBC Library, and in its early years, all administrative activities were based there. However, as the Library became decentralized, these activities were devolved to the relevant branches and divisions. At the same time, the University Librarian's administrative burden increased, so a series of Assistant University Librarians were appointed, each with defined areas of responsibility, including Public Services, Collections, Technical Services and Systems, and Administrative Services.
The sous-fonds consists of records generated by the Librarian's Office and include correspondence (both internal and external), reports, minutes, memorandums, notes, budgets and other financial records, architectural plans, published materials, publicity materials (brochures, newspapers clippings), scrapbooks, and photographs. The records are arranged in thirteen series, six of which are based on the tenures of University Librarians: John Ridington, W. Kaye Lamb, Neal Harlow, Basil Stuart-Stubbs, Douglas McInnes, and Ruth Patrick. Four other series are based on the Assistant University Librarian positions for Public Services, Technical Services and Systems, Administrative Services, and Collections. The series "Librarian's Office - General," consists of records that overlap the tenures of more than one University Librarian. Most series are, in turn, further subdivided into sub-series. Included at the beginning of the General series are loan request records from McGill University College of B.C library. The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre series documents the Library's involvement in the planning and development of the Centre, which replaced the Main Library. The Development Office series documents the Library's fundraising function that supports various projects and programs of other branches and divisions. The Assistant University Librarian for Collections series was originally erroneously identified as the"Collections Division sous-fond."

The fonds consists of papers, reports, printed material, essays and photographs created and acquired by Parminter in the course of his time as a student, professor and regional inspector, as well as some personal items. The fonds is divided into three series: Regional Inspector of Indian Schools, University of British Columbia and Research/Miscellaneous Material. The fonds had no discernable original order associated with them and so the archivist decided to arrange them by series.

Series consists of reports, memorandums, surveys and photographs created or accrued by Parimenter during his time employed as a professor at the University of British Columbia. The vast majority of the material revolves around his role in committees that investigated Indigenous students and their academic performance at the university. 13 of the photographs have a letter written in pencil on the verso that corresponds with the supplied list in the file. The list identifies the individuals in the photo.

Series consists of research papers, local history, journal articles, annotated bibliographies, essays, reading lists and books on research topics written or accumulated by Parimenter. Most of the material is on residential schools and Indigenous education, but two items document some of Parminter's family history. One is a school exercise book, with exercises completed by hand, entitled "Practical Arithmetick" (1817), written by Samuel Bateson (Parminter's great-grandfather). The other is "Victorian School, "a history thesis written by Sheila Young at James Graham College, Leeds, England (1966), chronicling the history of Farnley School in Yorkshire, where John Vye Parminter served as headmaster from 1875 to 1909.

Series consists of official federal and provincial reports, directives, guides, bulletins, addresses, residential school statistics and journal articles accumulated by Parminter during his time as the Regional Inspector of Indian Schools in British Columbia. File 1-18 is restricted due to the personally identifiable information. Any request to view this file is subject to review.

Subseries consists of research and materials relating to Ward's book The Clean Body: A Modern History published by McGill-Queen's University Press in November 2019. This book represents a synthesis of scholarship on the history and development of personal hygiene in Canada, Europe, and the U.S. Types of records in the sub-series include journal article photocopies, research notes, correspondence, publicity materials, manuscript copies, and chapter drafts of the book. Photocopied documents retained by the archivist include some sort of annotations by Ward. This project included some digital-born materials saved by Ward on a USB removable memory drive. Records saved as files on the drive included various journal articles or chapters in addition to a master bibliography for the project created in the software EndNote. Other *file formats included are Microsoft Word Documents (.docx and .doc), Microsoft Excel Documents (.xlsx and .xls) and PDFs.

Some of the records in this subseries are in Italian, French, and German.

Subseries consists of research notes and digital data assembled by Ward and Dr. Henry Yu for the Chinese Head Tax Project. This comprehensive project involved digitizing more than 96,000 entries to the Chinese Head Tax Register.

Series consists of six audio tapes, including a radio interview with Black (1987), two performances of "Sam Black Sketches (1988 and 1990), and speeches given on his 50th wedding anniversary. The video tapes, particularly "Sam Black: Surface Flows," "Art Explorations A Workshop with Sam Black," and "Shared Visions," provide exciting insights into Black's philosophy about art. The super 8mm film is labelled "Sam Black" and "Schools and London Trip 19th April-21st May 1972".

The fonds consists of biographical material, family information, correspondence, speeches, publications, subject files, teaching and reference material, photographs, audio and videotapes and artifacts. The fonds also includes various forms of Black's artwork. A copy of a Black family history published by Myra Davey (née Black) in 2006 had a CD of digitized images.

Series consists of digital media (3½” floppy disks, CDs, CD-Rs and DVDs) containing items documenting Schlesinger’s life and work, including TV scripts, interview transcripts, typed manuscripts, photographs, and digital video recordings. Various formats, including generic file formats, Word Perfect 5.0, doc (97-2003), tif, jpg, mp3, MPEG, and pdf, are present. Series consists of materials documenting Nicholas Winton’s Kindertransport project and Schlesinger’s involvement in documenting and publicizing the Kindertransport many years later. Winton’s efforts rescued hundreds of Jewish children from European countries under occupation by Nazi Germany in 1938 and 1939 – Joe Schlesinger was one of them, and his name is on the list in File 9-7. Materials include scripts and transcripts for the documentaries Nicholas Winton: The power of good and Nicky’s Children, correspondence, copies of published articles about Winton and the Kindertransport, and related items. Fonds consists of records which reflect Brink's participation on the Environmental Assessment Panel (1973-1983) and The Nature Trust (1984-1987). The papers include material arranged in the following series: correspondence, teaching and research. The papers also include reference booklets and pamphlets. Each series is arranged in chronological order. The records primarily contain one large correspondence series from 1953 to 1975, with bulk dates of 1961 to 1971. The correspondence contains Brink's faculty papers intermingled with the Division of Plant Science's central office files.

The records document Chambers' activities in three research projects that all attempt to reconcile the disputes between preservation and development interests in resource management. The first project is documented extensively. The last two projects offer only a glimpse into the response of the Nazko-Kluskus First Nations to the issues raised in the Purcell study. These papers offer valuable evidence of the continuing conflict surrounding resource management and First Nations land rights in B.C. and Chambers's role in attempting to find a resolution. There are three series of records that correspond to these three projects. Because the original order has been lost, it has been reconstructed with reference to the functions and activities of each project. Files within each series have been arranged in chronological order. Undated documents have been placed at the back of each file.

The fonds consists of two series: the Roma Research series and a Publications series composed of copies of Cohn's publications. The first series includes material generated or collected by Cohn in the course of researching Roma. It includes audiotaped interviews of Rom with notebooks containing descriptions and analysis of the conversations; a computer-generated inventory of kinship ties among hundreds of North American Roma; a transcript of a New York trial (1962) of a Roma fortune teller; miscellaneous printed and published materials on Roma, collected by Cohn; and materials from a correspondence course for learning Romani (1969/70). The research series also contains photographs (1968-74) of Roma taken by Cohn throughout North America and Europe. The Publications series includes copies of Cohn articles (1959-1993) and a bibliography of his works (1950-1993).
