Teaching series

Series consists of materials documenting Kevin Chong’s teaching activities at UBC and the Vancouver Film School, and includes correspondence and course materials.

Collaboration series

This series consists of records related to Craddock and TRIUMF’s visits to and from and consultation with other physics facilities and accelerator programs. Records include programs, queries, research notes, and correspondence.

Richard Splane and Verna Huffman Splane fonds

Fonds contains records pertaining to the separate careers and personal lives of both Verna Huffman Splane and Richard Splane, and their life together as a couple. Work records reflect Richard’s work in Alberta, his time in the RCAF, and his lengthy career in the federal government as well as Verna’s work for WHO, the federal government, and as a faculty member at UBC and the University of Victoria. These records include government reports, meeting minutes and agenda, correspondence, articles, course outlines and notes. Personal records reflect both Richard and Verna’s social lives and interest in social welfare outside of their careers. These records include correspondence, curriculum vitae, photographs (print and digital), notes, articles and publications, meeting minutes and agenda, and certificates.
The records reflecting Richard and Verna’s joint life has been arranged into eight series: Chief Nursing Officers Study, Home and Social Life, Personal Correspondence, University Hill Congregation, Social Welfare Work, Honours and Awards, Photographs, and Audio-visual. The fonds also includes two sous-fonds: the Richard Beverly Splane sous-fonds and the Verna Huffman Splane sous-fonds.

Experiential Science Project series

This series of books was produced as part of a contract with the Northwest Territories Department of Education, Culture, and Employment. PEP won the contract through an open proposal process. The series includes three student books and three teacher resource books for grades 10, 11, and 12. Work began on the series in 2006 and carried on into 2012. Experts in the field were brought in to review the content of the books, and First Nations Elders were also included in the project.

Series consists of the Experiential Science series documentation and includes book proposals, minutes, drafts, editorial notes and reports, and correspondence. It is arranged in subseries based on the book title.

Publications and Conferences series

Series consists of drafts, finished copies, and publication details of Ward’s articles and books. The series also contains conference papers, listings of attendees, maps of the cities visited, and programs from each event. Dr. Ward added copies of published book reviews in April 2013. File 23-7 was added in 2015.

Verna Huffman Splane sous-fonds

The records in this sous-fonds reflect Verna Huffman Splane's work for the World Health Organization, the federal government, and as a faculty member at UBC and the University of Victoria. Series consists of reports, report cards, examinations, correspondence, newspaper clippings, two scrapbooks (with photographs) documenting travel by Scott and his friends in 1948, awards and honours bestowed on Scott, tributes and obituaries regarding his colleagues, and a speech about Scott's early education, undergraduate research and activities, and his appointments at UBC.

The series consists of manuscripts, notes, newspaper and magazine clippings, correspondence, and other materials relating to McWhirter's writing, teaching, and other activities.

Works series

Series consists of documentation of Smedley’s sculptures and other artistic creations and includes written and typed notes and manuscripts, drawings and sketches, photographs, and various digital media. The series is primarily organized into sub-series: Notes and Research Materials, Rowingbridge, Descartes’ Clown, Magneto, Dissections, Piero della Francesca, Cloud of Numbers, Other Works, and Oversized Materials.

The sub-series are based primarily on Smedley’s works, except where the materials refer to more than one work or are more general. Within each subseries, the materials are arranged in chronological order.

Committees series

Series consists of records which document committees within the Faculty of Commerce / Sauder School of Business and includes minutes, reports, and correspondence. It is organized alphabetically by file title. It includes one sub-series for the Teaching Development Committee.

Programmes series

Series consists of records documenting academic and research programmes instituted by the Faculty of Commerce / Sauder School of Business and includes reports, correspondence, course curricula, and published materials. It is arranged alphabetically by file title.

Basketball series

The Basketball Series consists of media guides, statistics, research materials, and yearbooks. Also included is a scrapbook for the 1991-92 season and newspaper clippings. The Media and Promotions Series contains basketball programs and other publications on UBC basketball statistics

Research Materials series

The folder contains newspaper clippings and research materials, including an all-time varsity football roster researched by Fred Hume and a UBC Hall of fame program, 1994. Also in this series is a VHS by the National Film Board of the Thunderbirds in China, 1974. Hindmarch was inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. There is a DVD-R of this event and the plaque he was presented on that occasion.

UBC Administration series

Series consists of reports, research notes, correspondence, and minutes of meetings about Scott's involvement with the President's Report re: Student Enrollment (1953-1954), the Senate Committee on Courses with Large Enrollments (1954-1955), the Committee to Consider a Division of the Faculty of Arts and Science (1962), the President's Advisory Committee on Campus Enhancement (PACCE) (1998-2012). They were formerly known as the UBC Administrative Committees series.

Other Sports series

Sports found in this series include skiing, gymnastics, wrestling, rowing, sailing, and tennis. Records in this series are made up of correspondence, newspaper clippings, research materials, programs, and results.

Personal series

The series consists of correspondence, invitations, agendas, note cards, memos, telegrams, evaluations, clippings and notes relating to his various professional roles.

Clippings series

The series consists of clippings from newspapers and magazines and includes examples of Chongs’s published fiction and non-fiction writing and reviews of his books.

The Anthology of Social Studies series

This book was an updated version of a 1999 publication entitled Canadian Anthology of Social Studies: Issues and Strategies for Teachers. This book was widely used across Canada in teacher education courses. The updated versions were PEP’s idea to maintain the book’s status and relevance in the market and to better compete against newer rival books. The first updated version completely replaced the original anthology. The title was changed slightly to The Anthology of Social Studies, and split the book into two volumes. The first volume focuses on elementary teachers, while volume 2 focuses on secondary teachers. Both volumes were published in 2008. PEP has since updated Volume 1 of the anthology, releasing it with the Updated Edition in 2013. As of 2013, Volume 2 had not been updated. Series consists of correspondence, drafts, editorial notes, and reviews.

Series consists of records documenting internal and external reviews of the Faculty of Commerce / Sauder School of Business and its programmes and includes reports and correspondence. It is arranged in chronological order.

UBC Okanagan series

Series consists of records that document the establishment of UBC Okanagan and its Faculty of Management and the tenure of Sauder Dean Daniel Muzyka as Acting Dean of the UBC-O Faculty of Management and includes correspondence, reports, minutes, and published materials. Bob Hindmarch Collection

The collection consists of twenty-two UBC Football programs collected by Bob Hindmarch from 1951-1992. The file also contains an article by Athletics Historian Fred Hume on Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip's first football game and a short biography of Dr. Bob Hindmarch.
The second box was donated separately. The greatest extent of materials includes photographs. Also included is a folder of research materials, including newspaper clippings a VHS on Thunderbirds in China, 1974. As well as a DVD of the BC Hockey Hall of Fame, 2012 and a Hall of Fame Hockey Plaque presented to Hindmarch on that occasion.

Series consists of records documenting Richard Mattessich’s personal and professional life and includes correspondence, copies of publications, published materials, and notes. It is based on an alphabetical filing system that Mattessich used for at least part of his career and was reconstructed based on the order of the files when the Archives acquired them.
