This fonds is arranged into three series that track Symonds' various roles as an urban planning professional. The Urban Education/Teacher in the City series contains records created or received by Symonds while she served in the Continuing Education department at UBC, including her seminal effort to publish The Teacher and the City. The second series, Commissions and Committee Work, details Symonds' service on the Vancouver City Planning Commission and other planning-related committees she chaired or participated in for both the local B.C. context and internationally. The final series, Planning Publications, Speeches, and Writings, focuses on writings or pieces created by Symonds or publications she set aside for her purposes. These date from the early beginnings of her urban planning career in the 1950s to well after her retirement in 1983. The records included in the fonds are correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, journal articles, newspaper clippings, brochures, memoranda, reports and invitations.

Throughout his education and political careers, the records were generated by William Bruneau and relate both to personal and professional interests.

The most recent accrual documents a joint programme between UBC and Fundacao Instituto de Radiodifusao Educativa da Bahia in Brazil.

Fonds consists of textual records generated throughout Dr. Miller's career with the Department of English. They document his involvement in Departmental affairs and include correspondence with students and other faculty; Departmental memos and newsletters, teaching notes; and committee minutes. The records also illustrate some of his interests and activities outside the Department, including the Faculty of Arts Committee on Student Life; President's Committees on University Lectures, and Spiritual Life; the UBC Anglican-United Campus Ministry, and the Co-operative Christian Campus Ministry; the Humanities Association of Canada; and the Association of Canadian University Teachers of English.

The fonds consists of records dating from 1907 to 2008, which provide a unique source of information particularly about student-related matters such as grades, university admissions, graduation and examinations. In addition to records generated by the Registrar's Office itself, there are also Faculty records (1915-1963) which were probably maintained by the Registrar who served as the secretary to Senate. The Registrar’s Office also maintained the records of the Senate’s committees, reports, and elections (1912-1930). There are also records related to the Sopron Division of the Faculty of Forestry (1957-2007). These records include handwritten transcripts and correspondence. The records have been largely retained in their physical order in which they were acquired - as a result, records from different series are often inter-filed together, making it difficult to distinguish them with any accuracy. The records on microfilm include correspondence, student registration cards, academic records, and information on scholarships and bursaries dating from 1913 to 1968. The Registrar's Office also collected copies of student examinations. In 1993 copies of student examinations from 1915 to 1969 were microfilmed and the originals destroyed.

The fonds consists of records of both the Office of Academic Planning and the Institutional Analysis and Planning Office for the period 1960-1979. Materials include records from various departmental and senate planning and building committees on campus, Presidential committees, senate committees, office correspondence, external and internal reports, and Universities Council of British Columbia (UCBC). It is arranged into the following ten series: Departmental Planning and Use Committee Records; Senate committee on Academic Building Needs Records; Presidential Committees Records; Institutional Analysis and Planning Reports; Office
Correspondence; Subject Files; Collective Bargaining Records; UCBC Records; Higher Education Committee Records; and Senate Budget Committee Records. Many of the files have initials corresponding to either the name of the office where they were opened (IAP, OAP) or the name of the former director William L. Tetlow (WLT) these initials were retained as part of the file title.

The fonds of the Faculty of Medicine includes records which document the administrative and operational activities, actions and interests of the Faculty. Such records pertain to the establishment and organization of the Faculty; the development and actions of the Facultys governing bodies and committees; the planning, development and construction of various Faculty buildings such as the University Hospital, the I.R.C. Centre, the Basic Medical Sciences buildings and the Health Sciences Centre. These records also refer to the use of regional hospitals as clinical teaching hospitals and to relations between the Faculty and the University at large; as well as, with other university medical schools, governments, medical and related professions, associations and societies, businesses and hospitals. The records within this fonds also pertain to the Facultys receipt of gifts and donations, its departmental / divisional research endeavors and it applications for, and receipt of, awards for professional distinction. The fonds consists of records from the Fraser River Model Project (1949-1962); the Vancouver Harbour and Burrard Inlet Model Project (1953-1956); materials generated in teaching and taking UBC engineering courses (1922-1972), academic materials generated outside of the UBC system, and miscellaneous engineering projects that Pretious participated in his time at UBC (1942-1977). The records have been separated into six different series. Reports and memoranda which were issued as a series have been arranged in series order, but other items were filed arbitrarily under the two projects and have been maintained this way.

The fonds comprises the business records of Sharp & Thompson and later Thompson, Berwick, Pratt & Partners, dating from 1912 to 1974. The records consist of signed contracts, specifications, minutes, correspondence, quotations, financial statements, reports, signed Forms of Tender, memoranda, photographs and architectural drawings. They document the planning and construction of the University of British Columbia buildings designed and overseen by the architectural firm. Also, They document the architectural firm's activities on buildings in Vancouver, the province of British Columbia and elsewhere. Some of the files represent unsuccessful bids on jobs. There are original, blueprint and ozalid architectural drawings in this collection. The drawings of University buildings consist mainly of original drawings and blueprints. The drawings of buildings in Vancouver and elsewhere are few in number and are mostly ozalid reproductions.

Fonds consists of records which reflect Brink's participation on the Environmental Assessment Panel (1973-1983) and The Nature Trust (1984-1987). The papers include material arranged in the following series: correspondence, teaching and research. The papers also include reference booklets and pamphlets. Each series is arranged in chronological order. The records primarily contain one large correspondence series from 1953 to 1975, with bulk dates of 1961 to 1971. The correspondence contains Brink's faculty papers intermingled with the Division of Plant Science's central office files.
