历史
Ernest Laviolette is a photographer from Cherryville, B.C. working predominantly in black-and-white. Laviolette took a special interest in photographing the Monashee Mountains in the 1950s and the 1960s, and captured these landscapes extensively during the period. Laviolette was also instrumental in the creation of Monashee Provincial Park as his photographs captured public curiosity and passion for the area. Laviolette also produced an hour-long film titled The Call of the Monashee which was released in 1965 winning the Canadian Amateur Film Award in 1968 with a re-release later in 2011. Laviolette was an active member of his Cherryville community, participating in the Cherryville Historical Society and was a founder in the annual Cherryville Days celebration which has taken place every summer since 1963.
