LEE Tin (aka Chow LEE or LEE Hock Chow) was born in China in the [新會 Sunwui / Xinhui] county of 廣東 Guangdong province on July 21, 1881.

He arrived in Victoria, BC on July 16, 1910. Since he arrived prior to 1912, he was issued this C.I.36 certificate on August 21, 1918, to replace his original, photo-less C.I.5 certificate.

He was married to Lee Wou Sze (1882-1964). She arrived in Victoria on November 23, 1914, with their eldest son, Lee Wah Jong. Also travelling with Lee Wou Sze were a paper daughter and a paper son: Miss Lee Lan (1895-1987) and a Lee Cheong Dai (c. 1903-1985).

Altogether, Hock Chow and Wou Sze had eight children: Lee Wah Jong (1906-1929); Harry Kang Lee (1915-1988), Albert Wah Gay Lee (1919-1983), Winnifred Yuet Siu Lee (1920-1999), George Wah Poy Lee (1921-1989), Robert Wah Jew Lee (1923-1992), Helen Yuet Hing Lee (1925-2011), and David John Wah Sing Lee (b. 1927).

Hock Chow appears to have had one other child, a boy named LEE Wing Chong who was born in 1910. On his birth registration, the name of the mother is not Wou Sze but a Jang Shee who was also listed as deceased. No one knows what happened to this child.

Hock Chow was a graduate of the Imperial College of Physicians in Canton, China. When he moved to Vancouver in the late 1920s, he operated On Wo Tong, a traditional Chinese medicine store, located at 11 West Pender Street.

He died on May 26, 1944 in Vancouver, BC.
